Mmmmmm......Bananas........Again
Donkey Kong Land 2 was the Gameboy sequel to Donkey Kong Land and like it's console brethren Donkey Kong Country 2 the game's title character is Missing in Action. Donkey Kong's replacement is a feisty little pony tailed monkey known as Trixie and she even has some moves that actually make her more fun to play as then Diddy or Donkey. Namely her ability to use her pony tails as a way to hover for short periods of time making it easier to get across larger gaps and distances betweens platforms she can get farther then Donkey could even dream of. The game plays just like Donkey Kong Land simply with the addition of Trixie's floating ability. Of course this time around like the console version Diddy is the star of the game with Trixie as his partner as the two set off to save Donkey Kong from a mysterious enemy. This game seems to be more like it's console counterpart then DKL as the levels seem to follow more closely (but not exactly) like the ones in the console version and the save system has been changed to where you must find coins to save your game at the Kong Kollege like the SNES games and yes there is still battery save on this one too. The graphics are just as good as DKL and stay with a good steady framerate like it's forefather on the Gameboy. All in all this one is a very worthy purchase I personally would get DKL first as this one just seemed to be missing something perhaps it was the absence of the beloved original hero Donkey Kong but whatever the reason buy this one if you Can't find DKL or Buy them both as they are both exceedingly good platform games. I don't see a need for a option three if you like platform games this is another great game to own. Review By Preston Kilday |
