Phil in Maine, USA has both good news and bad news for his leg of this year's crawl:
Great to see the announcement! I've been warning my friends that it
would likely be the last weekend of May. I'll pass the word. We'll be
organizing a proper crawl this year instead of focusing on only one pub.
Partly because of the sad news below.
It is with heartfelt sadness that I must announce the passing of our
local brew pub, the Firkin Sturgeon, in Gardiner, Maine. The owner
closed the doors last fall. Please have your crawlers hoist a glass in the
Sturgeon's honor during this year's crawl. I am planning to have a
moment of silence and raise a toast to fond memories of good beer and
great blues.
This year's crawl will likely cover pubs in at least 3 towns, maybe 4.
A tentative list is: The Old Goat Pub in Richmond, ME; the Liberal
Cup brewpub, Higher Grounds Cafe and the Wharf in Hallowell, ME and the
Depot in Gardiner, ME. I'll get a more solid list with the help of the
"Minister of Fun" as we approach the deadline for the tour guide. (Our
Division Director at work named one of my co-workers the Minister of
Fun during the Christmas Party because of his shenanigans).
Mmmmm shenanigans...
