Entry for August 30, 2006
Dear Friends and Family,
Wow it is already the end of August. Today was a good day for Phil he was very busy. We are excited to say that he has only one more appointment with Speech Therapy and he will be done with that!!!! Zoe his speech therapist says he is done next week he is Graduating!. Josh took him to the three therapies for me today. He said he enjoyed it. It really is interesting what they all do. Tomorrow morning Phil has an appointment at Mt. Hood Hospital and the afternoon will be Dr. Root the Sleep disorder Dr. his office is somewhere not to far from Good Sam. I'll be happy to see what he has to say about getting some more help for Phil with the cpap machine, Phil just isn't using it. There has to be a better way.
Phil was up a lot more today. Still very tired but he was up! He ate a little better, Dinner was potato clam chowder with corn in it. That was new! This morning he ate a whole Banana with his hearty hot breakfast cereal, milk and juice. Everything stayed down!
I made Phil an e-mail book with all the e-mails I sent, and you sent to us, so he can feel like he knows more of what went on in his life this past 2 months. The thing took me 6 hours and is 2 inches thick. That will give him something to do next
week.
The next 2 weeks it is Dr appointments, MRI appointments, & Therapy appointments every day. He will be so worn out. Me too, but it should quiet down a little after that, I hope. One thing we won't get is bored. It is so wonderful that we have these Dr.'s available to him. I am thankful that it is summer too, because for the late afternoon appointments I have day light. I am night blind so if this had to happen this was the best time of year for me driving him around especially to those downtown Dr. appointments, it would be nice if they had offices closer to Sandy. Good thing that Phil knows downtown well, he can help me get to these places we haven't been before. I guess it is good for me to be stretched a little.
I see Phil improving in bigger than baby steps every day now. It's like seeing a slow motion film of a flower blooming get sped up like they do on the nature channel. I am so encouraged. All I can say is to God be the glory as I look back on all that has happened these past 2 months. It is so amazing to me and the Doctors where he has come from. Thank you for your prayers, I know God has used them to show his power in this healing. It's still hard but it is Fun to see my sweet husband become himself again. Thank you for praying.
Looking Forward to what the unsure future holds.
Love Donna and Phil and Family
