Entry for August 23, 2006
Dear Friends and Family,
Phil had another good day it is encouraging to have 4 good days in a row. He made his own dinner of mashed potatoes, cheese and gravy, watermelon. some egg flower soup that mom brought him and some milk. He needs to start doing this stuff on his own.
We went to see Dr. Kale today my appointment was about 30 minutes and Phil's was about 2 & 1/2 hours. Dr. Kale doesn't rush he is very thorough. He put Phil on a natural remedy. That will hopefully help with the eating disorder he also manipulated his neck and head. He doesn't do it like a chiropractor he finds these tender spots and manipulates and contorts your muscles to a weird position then holds it until the tenderness is gone. This relaxes your muscles that cause the bones and joints to go out of place and brings them back where they belong. He explains it and says our muscles are like rubber bands and sometimes they get stretches and need to be relaxed and what he does is he takes both sides of the rubber band and brings them back together so they relax and waits there with them until they stay relaxed on their own. It has done wonders for Phil's chronic lower back problems he only has to see Dr Kale for this about once every 3 months where as he used to go see Dr Gary every week for the back problems. He fixed my shoulder that was bothering me for 6 months in 3 visits. Dr. Gary is good at some things that help Phil and Dr. Kale helps with other things. Needless to say we spent most of the afternoon with Dr. Kale who told Phil he was a miracle and he thinks that the prayer is working for him. He took the time to explain a lot of things to us about Phil's condition. Phil was soooooooo tired when we got home he ate lunch(at 3:45) and went to bed then I got him up to eat dinner play about 15 minutes of memory games and then he went back to bed. The CPAP machine is not working for him the guy Jim is coming out tomorrow to adjust it we may need to try a different kind of mask. The goofy thing fills his belly up with air and then he feels like he is going to explode so he takes it off and (burps for an hour) what a pain. Hope they get it figured out Dr. Kale says that will help him not be so tired if he gets to using it all the time. I gave up on making him wear it at this point because he is so miserable with it on. We went another day without the pain medication and the dizzy medication also less nausea medication. I see a little light at the end of the tunnel. Tomorrow he has the day off of all Dr. and Therapy appointments so I will have to be creative with him and do some therapy at home. Maybe go on a little field trip. I think we may have his weight stabilized. Thank you for your prayers. This has been an interesting journey we have been on. We hope that God is using this hard time in our lives for his glory. He has never failed us yet. He is faithful, and we look forward to the outcome of this chapter in our lives. We are so thankful for his people who pray.
Love Donna, Phil, Josh . Laura, Sam, Meaghan, and Matthew (He is in Eugene until Friday looking for work)
