Entry for August 15, 2006
Dear Family and Friends,
The Lord must have known I needed some girl time. This morning I was able to get away and walk with Lisa, get some fresh air and some good girl talk. Lisa has been a gift form God to me this past year as we have been able to take some time to talk, walk, share prayer concerns, laugh a lot, and get our blood flowing. Then the Lord blessed us even some more as we saw Judy Simon walking toward us so the three of us were able to walk together, share some of our hearts, and later Judy and I were able to have a little tea and pray together. Judy and I have prayed together off and on over the past somewhere around 12 years. It was good to recall some of the past prayer concerns and how God has done more than we ever dreamed. We enjoyed praising God for what he hasn't done yet in our lives. Leaving with him those things of which we don't know the outcome yet. God knows when we need those human pillows that hold us up in love and prayer. Today I needed those pillows.
Phil was weighed today, he has lost weight again. Last week 202lbs, today 195lbs. Yikes! we got to get him to quit loosing weight so fast. Please pray with us that he can get interested in food and be able to keep it down. He drank a little Boost for me today but that's only 240 calories. He didn't eat lunch. We've cut back on some of the medication as his headaches are somewhat better, (Thank You Lord),
hoping that would help his appetite.
Phil didn't have any therapies today so I took him down tho the church and walked him around and climbed some stairs, he used his little cane and got used to that, & we visited a little with some of the staff there. He had a nice visit from Dennis his buddy from work, one of the guys who worked so hard on our railing. I got to meet his charming son Brice. It was fun to meet the young man I have heard Phil talk about since he was just a little guy. Later we had a good visit with Josh my (son) too. He brought over some wonderful Chicken Noodle soup Laura made us for dinner. Phil will eat that since Laura made it for him. He is napping right now. I wore him our today. (It's good for him).
Another prayer request is for Matthew. Tomorrow he will make a pilgrimage down to Eugene looking for work that he can do as he goes to school at U.of O. Pray that God will give him what he needs, to do what He has for him next year. We are so happy that he has a great group of guys to live with. He will be renting a house down there with some of his buddies that he lived with at the Alpha Omega house. (A Christian guys house, that he lived in 2 years ago when he was going to school there.) God has blessed him with some great friends that was a real HUGE prayer concern we had when we left him there 2 years ago. That's a whole different story of Gods plan for Matt. I'll let him tell it someday. Well I have not sent an update on Phil this early in the day it feels pretty good to have the sun still shining as I write.
Thank you for praying and caring. Time will go by and we'll look back on these days and smile. But for now it is work in these human tired bodies. Life is a vapor.
God Bless You All. Enjoy your life and let things get a little messy sometimes, it's a gift to the ones you love.
Love Donna and Family
P.S. Please keep my Dad in your prayers tomorrow as he has surgery on his hand, he will be at Portland Adventist but not overnight. He has been in a lot of pain with this carpel tunnel syndrome. Pray that he will get the relief and healing he needs.
