Hi Family and Friends,

We continued to see improvements in Dad today. Uncle Bill visited dad, Dad asked him to take the pulse thing off his finger. Bill said, "I can't do that Phil." Dad said, "Yes you can, Just yank it off, just yank it off." Steve Stanley visited him and prayed over him, he was about to leave when Dad started to pray for Steve and his family and all their struggles and trials they were going through, that's my Dad . Steve said Dad was quiet but he could understand his prayer, Mom heard it all (of course she was closer). While Steve was there Dad tried to take the pulse thing off his toe (they had moved it) and was able to pinch it unitl it was about 1/2" till it was clear off! Mom stopped him.
Aunt Laura and Uncle Randy saw Dad and Aunt Laura told him "your looking good today" and Dad said, "You've seen me look worse?" So as you can tell he has been quite the comedian.
Dad was able to use his glasses today. That made him happy.
Dad is trying to escape, he got to the bottom of his hospital bed and had one leg on the floor when the chaplain told the nurse she better get in to make him lye back down. They had to put restraints on him, that is really hard for him. Dad wanted mom to remove the tube that goes up his nose and into his stomache, Mom said that she couldn't because it was important and Dad replied, "not thaaat important". He doesn't seem to quite understand the extent of the damage. Dad also told mom "tomorrow is Friday, Friday is a good day to take me home". He is having a really hard time having to lye in the bed, it's uncomfortable and he doesn't really understand why he needs to stay. We keep telling him he has to obey the rules and continue to be good. He asked Josh if he was beeing good and Josh said, "yes" and Dad said, "even Josh says I'm being good, even Josh". Dad told Sam and Matt he is ready to go home. They told him that Jack (the dog) misses him and Dad said, " He's just making noise." It's good to see him so much more active today but it is hard to see him frustrated, uncomfortable, and not really knowing what has happened to him yet.
When I visited with him Mom was trying to feed him (for the first time) the pureed goop they gave him was really disgusting. He was looking forward to eating but when he tasted it he was really disappointed. Dad made Josh try it to prove it was bad. Josh confirmed it for us, nasty stuff. Mom asked the nurse if there was something else he could have and they brought him a yogurt. I told him it looked good, like blackberry, and after he tasted it he said, "poisonberry...poisonberry" we laughed. Another nurse brought him some custard pudding. He was much happier with this and took a few little bites. Tomorrow we can bring him some pureed food from home, maybe clam chowder. poor Dad.
Thank you for all your prayers, we can see God working a miracle already. Please continue to pray as there is still so much ahead and he is still in the dangerous time where his brain could swell again. Mom is relaxing a little.
Love,
Laura, Donna, Phil, Sam, Matt, and Josh
