Entry for July 8, 2006
Hi Friends and Family,

Phil was really tired again today.  I could hardly get him to eat but remembe,r that is to be expected after all the trauma of getting the shunt out and getting that brain to deal with all that fluid on its own. The neurologist Dr. Brown came to see Phil he said it was a good excuse to ride his motor cycle. He thinks that on Monday the 10Th they will do an evaluation on Phil and see if he is a good candidate  for the rehab at Good Sam. Rehab center. He said Phil would have to put on a good performance for them or else he would have to go to a rehab facility(nursing home) until they think he is strong enough. When Phil didn't feel like eating I reminded him of that and  I was able to get him to sit up and eat some.  Tomorrow we will bring milkshakes, the hospital food is nasty. Dr.Brown said he was a miracle. He said when they took Phil into that 6 hour surgery Monday night he had a 95% to 98% mortality rate. They didn't think he would live but they had to try. Some things are better left unknown until later. He said that his "Carma" must have been good that day and God was blessing him (the Dr.) for something good he must have done instead of all the bad, but we KNOW IT WAS GOD his grace and mercy.

Good news Phil was able to walk with the walker up and down the 3rd floor at 2 different times, he had a little help but was able to do most of it on his own. His poor head has scars and stitches all over it. They will serve as a reminder of who is in control of our lives, how fragile life is, and how we need to get our acts together with God because even a young, healthy man can get so sick so fast.

Please pray that he is able to eat and get his strength up so he is chosen as a candidate at Good Sam. Rehab. center. He is doing so much better this weekend than last weekend. Thankyou for all of your prayers. I asked Phil if he was worried about anything today and he said no. So for now he has some peace.  thank you for your prayers I can feel them.

Donna
