Entry for July 23, 2006
Hi Friends and Family,
Today is 4 Weeks since Phil's stroke. A lot has happened in that time. I have to keep reminding myself that God pretty much brought him back from the dead and he has made great strides from that first week, part of me looks at him and thinks he'll just jump up and say lets go, then reality sets in (or tries to set in) and I see him there in all that pain and pray it will be over soon so he can be more normal.
Today we had a short day with Phil only 3.5 hours but we all needed a little break. His good buddy Bruce came this morning and that gave me freedom to take the morning off. He was still suffering today a lot with pain in his head, nausea. throwing up dehydration and a few other not fun problems. I was able to get him to drink 30 ounces of cranberry juice water between 3:00 and 6:30. So I was very proud of myself. He was sick of me and ready for me to go home, with my water and juice, but he still loves me, just not my beverage pushing. Before I got there he had a few episodes with the bucket and needed to drink. He had a good nurse today who was making him drink and he doesn't like her either. I just say gooo girl.
His roommate had a whole norther bunch of chatty fellowship folks there tonight. I was hoping his pastor had to be at church for some kind of meeting by 7:00. I thought they were gonna just have church right there in the room. They are trying but there is a good amount of noise behind that curtain. I will have to talk to the nurse again about this I guess. The poor guy with the screamer was able to move to another room yesterday. so the guy in the cage has a room to himself. I told Phil all he had to do was start screaming, and he could get a private room too! Phil just looked at me with that (Oh that's my Donna) look. Can you imagine Phil being a screamer, I only remember 2 times when he got really mad in 28 years. and screaming wasn't ever a part of it, would just be to weird, but if it gets him a private room, huh maybe.
We have to keep a sence of humor thats just a must right now.
Well the water pusher is also a prayer pusher. we continue to NEED all the payers we can get. Thank you for praying those of you who pray. God hears. I know he does because I am able to sleep and that would not be a normal thing for me in times like this.
