Today Muslims are viewed as being different

Suddenly they have become an eminent threat

The Hijab is seen as a sign of oppression

By the liberal, so-called tolerant West

Subjected to strange looks in public gatherings

Being called a terrorist at the slightest raising of tempers

Singled out at the airport for random searches

invariably picked out for the demeaning, not so random act

And of course every Muslim is a suicide bomber

And is under surveillance 24/7

And phones are tapped and they are being kept in detention camps

And without any proof of terrorists acts

It also happened to the Japanese on this land of the free

Thrown into internment camps for no fault of theirs

When will Americans realize what is actually behind these cries?

This is the actual definition of intolerance in action!

In this land of ours all this is not new

People have been intolerant

Of each other for as long as we can remember

In America, land of the free home of the brave

Blacks were slaves in this free country, treated worse than animals

Raped, beaten, and hanged, only because they were different

Why are the different shades of skin driving us insane?

O! Descendants of Adam, aren’t we all the same

It is happening once again

Every Muslim whether black, brown or white

Is perceived as different

And a target of religious intolerance worldwide

We are different and that should make us proud

What would the world be like if everything was alike?

Learn about differences, tolerate, embrace and expand your loving hearts

That should be the message for all humankind

For if we don’t tolerate

I’m afraid intolerance will escalate

A global war and finally death

Then who will be there for us to hate!

When will we humans realize

We are one people, our beliefs intertwined

O Allah! Give us the wisdom to tolerate each other

So that there is peace on this earth forever and ever

I only have one wish

For all humanity

To live on this abundant earth

With tolerance, peace and harmony!
