Entry for November 14, 2006
First, a quick review and some cd critiques, before some more on my rfeturn to Panthertown... If you are a part of the Bay Area Hip Hop scene, you were probably at the Berkeley Community Theater last Friday Night. The show, put together by a collective of hard hustling promoters which includes More Den Entertainment was the kind of thing the local hip hop scene needs these days. Hosted by the notable and well respected actor and comedian T.J. CARTER with guest appearances from James DeBarge, Al B. Sure! and other well knowns, the show included up and coming acts such as Re, to perform from his latest cd "The truth, the whole truth & Nuthin but", Cellski aka 2Took, witrh his latest "Mr. Predicter", The Berkeley Kids, K - Spitz, the "First Lady" of NBS-Savage music w/ Empress Freedom, who did a bomb a** track from their coming album and had the best performance of the night in this writer's opinion. All and all, a well rounded show with all of the elements necessary to put a little life into the rap scene: comedy (the Wild Out Bunch, Carter), some R&B (Al B. Sure!, Debarge) and even some live music by some of the area's up and coming jamsters. ALL POINTS BULLETIN!!!! At the end of the evening when things were breaking down for the close, there was an impromptu jam by two little brothers from Berkeley High School. These little Jazz impressarios were "Bad den a Mu*** Fu****"!!! Somebody find out who they are because I know some jazz cats that are ready to take these dudes on tour RIGHT NOW! The after-party was held at the Lucre Lounge of Shattuck street in Berkeley, the site of last weeks comedy jam put on by Mor Den Music, featuring the up and coming soon to be superstar De-Sol da Don on the mic. Some of Children of Sin showed up including the Louisville Slugger who mashed the stage up right before De Sol. Of course i the Ali Baba, had to manifest, taking the stage and turning it out with one of those 'dope fiend, old skool rymes". The whole evening was a smashing success. I don't know if the producers of these shows are making any money (they are probably losing a great deal) but their shows are mos def and anytime you see a show coming that's put on by Mor Den Music Entertainment Group, you needs to go there! Tomorrow we're going to take some time to talk about the town and how it's changed since I've been away. I promise the sh** is going to be titillating. 2006-11-14 23:31:27 GMT
