This past weekend, Gavin and Susie came down to visit. They brought Carter down with them and dropped him off at Grandpa and Grandma’s house, and then came over to our house to stay. Saturday morning, we went to the zoo with them. We saw penquins, a tortoise, giraffes, rinos, elephants, gorillas, and a very upset male lion who was protesting that he was locked away from his females. The Gorillas were great as we saw the four young ones outside playing in the wet grass. They would chase each other and slide down hills. They were also having a good time in their shallow pond.

We also did some finger-painting in the afternoon. They liked painting, but it became more of an effort to keep them from putting their fingers in their mouths. For dinner, we got pizza from Papa Murphy’s, which was a brilliant idea as to prevent lots of work making dinner and cleaning up.

Sunday morning, we all went to Grandma and Grandpa’s for brunch. The kids got to play with Carter and eat Grandma’s casserole (yummy). We stayed a little later to go though some heritage shopping, and that kind of messed up the nap schedule for the rest of the day, but we survived.

Every day, it seems like they add more words to their vocabulary. They are saying “Gagey, Nolan, dog, baby, more, bottle, ball, Mommy, Daddy, and PaPa (for Grandpa). Last night, I was reading and “ABC” book to them and Gage repeated A and B to Mommy.

They are also learning some “bad” stuff. Katherine will pull open her diaper if you don’t put bloomers on her. Gage and Nolan are climbing up everything, including the changing table (Nolan). In the living room, we moved the couch in front of the big picture window because they like crawling up onto the couch and looking outside. It is set away from the wall about 8 inches to give room for the curtains. A couple of days ago, we couldn’t figure out where Nolan went. We checked the rooms and were perplexed until he crawled out from behind the couch. I think Nolan is brilliant, but maybe TOO brilliant. He never seems to listen to Mommy and Daddy. He has his own agenda, and that is to drive us crazy, but that’s how it goes.
