Work Hours
- 100 hours/course
- 2.25 to 2.75 hours/class
Duties and
Responsibilities
- Instruct up to 16 students per class in the general educational skills necessary to receive a passing score on the five tests of the GED
exam
- Maintain classroom records and submit administrative reports to Marywood's School of Continuing
Education
- Using an official practice test, formally assess each student at least once during the 11-week course
- Provide a positive learning experience for each student;
ensuring each experiences some form of academic success
Knowledge and Skill
Requirements
- To be effective in teaching the skills needed to pass the GED exam battery, an instructor should
demonstrate competency in teaching reading/writing skills and the basics of
high school math.
- A GED instructor should also possess at least six months experience in managing a classroom or in supervising the training of adults.
