| What If? Volume 3 By: Brian Alspaugh 5/20/02 I have talked about idea's for new and interesting video games in the last two columns, ... and this editorial is no exception. Here are some random thoughts for cool games. I feel I should write them down before I lose them. So here are some of my idea's for cool games. If you don't like them, then come up with a better idea and send it too me. don't worry I will give you proper credit. I wouldn't take your idea, say it was mine and sell it... anyways here they are The Band Ok it's a working title but imagine a game where you create a band and you get to lead them to the top of the music industry. I think it would be cool to design the people, the style of music, and set up gigs. You could watch the band progress from the club scene into getting a record deal and making it big. Forever Again, not a clever title, but a game I would like to play. Take the best elements of a role-playing game such as the sense of adventure and large world. Then take out the less fun elements such as random battles, and frustrating puzzles. This could be a quest for the most powerful object in the world, the lost ark. Think about how cool it would be to tie in religious history into an exploration game that takes place during the crusades. Sword fighting, Horse riding, escaping persecution, saving those being attacked for their religion while capturing the Lost Ark. Game Collection This is a simple idea, but I think it's a good one. Most peple like boards games, but not the setup, adding or taking down, Plus it's hard to finish a 6 player game of monopoly in two hours. So I propose a collection of boardgames, with a built in save feature and a stat tracking system so you can know how many games each person has won. This game would be easy to make and i'm sure it would make alot of money. Just add Risk, Monopoly, Life, Sorry, Stratego and a couple of others. So there you have it, some cool idea's for games I would like to play. |
