Summary
(Note If you haven't seen the movie and don't want it spoiled, skip the summary and scroll down to the Review section.)
The Last Castle stars Robert Redford as a former military general, Irwin,  who refused to follow immoral orders from his commanding officer.  Not following these orders resulted in the deaths of 8 of his men.  For this crime he was put in a prison full of former military men who commited crimes.
The Prison is run by Winter a man who although decorated with medals, has never even been in battle.  Winter is sick with power and uses it to abuse the convicts.  In one instance he forces a man who saluted Irwin  to stand saluting in the rain for 24 hours.
The prisoner's want to revolt but Irwin refuses to help, that is until a prisoner is killed by an "accidental" shot to the head.  The prisoners then devise a plan to take over the prison.  This results in a large battle between the two sides.  Just when it looks as though the prisoners are about to win 100 snipers surround the prisoners
What the general fails to realize is that if another death occurs at the prison he will lose his job.  He forces all of the prisoners to fall to the ground but robert remains on his feet with the man's flag in his hands.  He is threatening to raise the flag on the pole upside-down, the sign of an overthrown castle.  Robert turns his back to the General and begins to walk towards the flag pole.  As he begins to attach the flag he is shot in the back 6 times by the General.  With his last ounce of strength he raises the flag, ... right side up

Review
This is one of the best movies this year.  The acting is good, the fight scenes electric and the pace is great.  This movie never slows down.  I would recommended this movie to anyone who liked The Rock, Con Air or Escape From La.
Overall everything in this movie clicked and if I had the movie and the chance to watch it all over again, I would.  This movie is rated R and had a run time of about 2 hours.  It is rated R for strong laungauge, Violence and Gore.
I give The Last Castle 8.5 out of ten
