Roadwork Review
By: Brian Alspaugh
Roadwork is the latest book i've read by Stephen King.  This book is one of the few that he wrote under his alias "Richard Bachman."  After this information became public he discontinued the Bachman books, which is a shame because are a good change of pace.
Most of the Bachman books are a more cynical, less happy Stephen King.  This story follows a man named Bart Dawes.  The city is putting up anew new highway extension, one that plans to run right thru his home of 20 years and his workplace.
As oppossed to finding a new home or a new site for his work he procrastinates, unable to face the reality that the house where his late son grew up will soon be no more.
He begins to slip further and further into madness, getting fired and a divorce in the process.  This novel follows his self-destruction.
This book would probably fall into the middle of the 19 Stephen King books I have read.  This is a good book but it lacks in variety and character development.  Overall I give Roadwork by Stephen King a 7.0 out of 10.
