| Nintendo's Gamecube Vs Microsoft's X-Box Which is the system for you? By:Brian Alspaugh II 11/05/01 |
| Introduction The launch of two major videogame systems has never came this close. With the X-Box coming out on November 15th and The Gamecube coming out Novermber 18th it can be hard to decide which system to buy. Over the next couple of pages we will go over the pro's and cons of each system. We will discuss games launching with the system, games coming out in the future, controller design, price and availability. First we will start with the actual game system, price and availability The Systems Nintendo's gamecube runs off of pocketsized 1.5 gigabyte discs. The system itself is also compact. It is less than half the size of the X-Box. It has four controller ports as well as the X-Box. The X-Box runs on DVD'S meaning unlike the Gamecube it will be able to play DVD movies. Price And Availability The Nintendo Gamcube will launch in two different colors. The system will cost 199$, games for 49$ and controller's for 25$ Microsoft's X-Box will run for 299$ and game prices will be the same as Nintendo. Controller The Gamecube controller is alot smaller than the X-Box's. The Gamecube controller seems like a mix of the SNES and Nintendo 64 controller while X-Box's is more like a Dreamcast controller. Without actually playing with both controller's it's hard to make a comparison. I can say that after playing with the Gamecube controller I found it comfortable and easy to use. Launch Games The X-Box has more launch games than the Gamecube. Launch Games arer games that come out at the same time as the system. Here is a list of X-Box and Gamecube games coming out On The actual Launch day. There is more sports and adventure games for the gamecube. however if you like fighting games or first person shooters, The X-Box has the edge. |
