Geralds Game

Geralds game is a novel by Stephen King about a man and his wife's vacation to the woods.  As part of a game He handcuffs her to the bed.  She decides she wants out but he pretends to not realize.  She kicks him sending him flying head first onto the floor killing him and leaving her handcuffed to the bed.

This is the seventh Stephen King book i've read in the past month.  So far I would say this one lies somewhere in the middle of the pack.  It's far better than The Tommyknockers or The Girl Who Loved Tom Gordon, but nowhere near as good as The Stand or Firestarter.  One thing King does good is making the reader apart of the story.  There have been times reading that I have actually forgot that I was reading.
The downside to his books in my opinion is needless gory details.  I'm not going to go into detail about it here but she does get out of the handcuffs.  When I read just how she was going to do it I almost quit reading the book.  Curiousity got the best of me though and I finished the book.
Unlike alot of Stephen King books this one has nothing to do with the Occult or the supernatural.  When I first started reading this book, I thought it was going to be boring.  My thought process was how are you going to make 400 pages of a women tied to a bed interesting?  Trust me on this one, he found a way.
In closing this is a decent book, that should not be read by the weak.  This is a good read but if you are looking for Stephen King at his best, pick up The Stand, Carrie or Firestarter.  I gave Gerald's Game 7 out of ten
