Candelina is a very sweet and calm Metresa, for the most part. She is seen in the Catholic image of Our Lady of Candlemas (La Candelaria). He feats day is Febuary 2 (same as the pagen holiday of fire "Candlemas") and her colour is red. Her main drink is dark rum but she may also be offered beer and red soda pop; she also smokes both cigars and cigaretes. She is the wife of Candelo Sedife and Mother to Candelito (El Nino de Praga). I know one individual (and frankly he is the only one I know to say such a thing) that says that Candelina is Candelo's sister. I don't know where such a notion would come from, but everywhere that I have seen Candelina, and anyone who I know that knows her knows her to be Candelo's wife. I think the word to best discribe this union (or any spiritual union) would be "partner". The term "marriage" is a mundane term coined by people. These spirits are too elevated and far more advanced to be adhearing to such ristrictions that we give ourselves.

None the less, when she arrives in possesion, she is very similar to Anaisa (as most Metresas are) except there is no loud laughter. Candelina's voice is much more soft spoken and the pitch is definetly much lower, as well. When she arives she asks for her red fula, and any other objects the horse may have for her. One thing she loves to have is her red skirt. She too, wears red lisptick. Candelina could drink beer just as easily as she could straight up rum; she is a hot Lwa. She seems to prefer to drink beer with a shot of Florida Water and dark rum in it. If and when she arrives "enpetrosa" as we say--meaning pissed off--she'll drink just Florida Water. In the same fashion she may smoke a cigar just as easily as a cigarette; it all depends on what she wants at the moment, which may be dictated by her mood. Usually if all is pretty calm and going well she'll ask for beer and cigarette. If she needs to come stronger or perhaps in the head of a child of her's she'll ask for the rum and cigar. Again, it's all up to her. I have seen her ask for three candles and do just as Candelo does with them (pass them around her body and place them between her toes and hold one in her hand) but yet at the same time i've seen her NOT do these things.

Candelina dosen't seem to arrive too often in posesion. Honestly I believe it's only due to people not really knowing about her. She's a very chearful and happy Lwa. She also offers very good advice and is a very concerned mother. Unlike Anaisa, Candelina's attention is easy to maintain. While Anaisa might have a slight case of Atention Deficit Disorder at times, Candelina is always focoused and atends to one thing at a time.
