Yes this site is being closed down and replaced by teh Geeks.  Why well due to a lack of community interest and the fact that we can not compete with search engines such as Google it has been decided that it is time to start a new site.

Teh Geeks will be similar to OZ Web Directory but with a different less commercial mandate.  Now don't cry, you wont miss the site because admit it this site is teh suck.

NOTE: Problems With the site CSS file

At the moment the CSS (cascading style sheet) the file that controls the web sites layout is not working correctly. This is due to the popup add code Geocities adds every web page that is listed under a free of charge account. I hope to have this situation rectified by the end of October.

Lachlan Williams

A History of OZ Web Directory

OZ Web Directory began life as school student project as at De La Salle College Australia in 2001. Originally called Information Network it was created as a site for video games. Hosted by DLS' ISP SINA its content included articles about hardware, game reviews, cheats and a directory of about 100 web sites relating to varies topics.

In 2002 with the conclusion of the DLS Web Development Project its creator Lachlan Williams attempted to improve on his group’s original work. The result was Info Net a simple name change and a content update. Though plagued by a lack of interest by the other members of the 2001 project and limited access to the required software and hardware meant these changes were not added and, Information Network was left to rot in the deep dark depths of SINA's web server.

In 2003 an Information Technology Assignment allowed Lachlan to finally gave Information Network (I.N.) a long over due update. Instead of keeping the original idea of I.N. being a games site it, was decided to start off with a new design and expand on the Internet Directory feature. In March that year I.N. now renamed Web Directory went online though, with in a few weeks SINA changed its policy about student web site hosting. Due to some students having material on their sites that was copyrighted to other companies and individuals a decision was made that student web sites could only be access by members of those schools. Web Directory was forced in to obscurity once again.

In 2004 Lachlan, armed with a copy of Microsoft FrontPage 2003, revamped the site and moved it to www,geocites.com/ozwebdirectory. OZ was added to the name of the site due to Web Directory was already being used.

2005 OZ web Directory has been rebuilt with Macromedia Dream Weaver MX, reloaded and now will be an on going web project.
