3 3/4 C sugar 1 C Karo syrup
1 C water 1 tsp flavoring oil (anise/cinnamon/etc)
1 box powdered sugar food coloring
1. Line cookie sheet with aluminum foil and cover bottom with
powdered sugar; set aside.
2. Mix sugar, syrup and water in saucepan and heat to 300 degrees
(temp is critical; strongly suggest getting a candy thermometer for
this).
3. Add 1 or 2 tsps of flavoring (dependent upon desired strength)
and desired food coloring (I use green for wintergreen, none for
anise, red for cinnamon).
4. Immediately pour onto sugared cookie sheet and let cool.
5. Shake/brush off excess powdered sugar and store in airtight
container.
(NOTE: You must use a separate pan and utensils - or clean the original ones - between each batch to avoid mixing the flavors)
