30 ADG basic
I noticed on the web site that the photo depicting Course 30 was pretty dark and hard to make out individuals, so I thought I'd see if I could send you a clearer one.

Gatcrews (1)-Baradine 1979
This was (to my knowledge) the first time that vehicle ops were trialled after No 1 Flight at Richmond managed to 'waylay' three Mk 3 Landrovers that were destined to go to government scrap. They were a classic case of 'self help' as we rebuilt the motor in one and made, or had made, all the brackets and gun mounts and other 'special mods' to get them going (with varying degrees of success)
It sure beat the shit out of walking everywhere! The picture shows the composition of the QRF with the assault section supported by two fire-support crews.
(Then) FLGOFF Dennis Anderson and SGT Barry Hogan on either flank obvoiously wern't part of the QRF, but insisted on being in the photo.

SOC-Pelican's Progress-Baradine 1979
Shown outside the Squadron Operations Centre During Exercise "Pelican's Progress" at Baradine, NSW.
It shows the head-shed at the time with LAC Paul "Irish" O'Rielly. Irish has, I believe, a significant part to play in the evolution of the ADG mustering. Long before it was a uniform item, Irish took to wearing a beret whenever he was in the field, ala the Brits.
The execs at the time thought it looked good and began the push that sees us where we are today
.This photo was obviously taken after Irish had 'exerted his influence' and shows FLGOFF Anderson and WOFF Laurie Gay 'non-issue' clothing.
