So, What's up with this site?

"So, what's the deal with this website?" ...Said no one ever.
The thing most of you will ask about (if you even bother to) is "Why does this page look so old?" The reason is that it is just made that way. I have made it this way for a few reasons but the main one is, "it's working, isn't it?". This site is simple, fast, responsive, compatible and secure!

Simplicity

I am just a casual programmer, I only do this as a hobby so I don't understand every little, single thing about HTML, I only know the basics. Since I don't do a lot of advanced web programming I don't practice that specialised code so I end up forgetting it only to remember the simple stuff like drawing text and images on the screen. I never felt the need to modernise it with advanced UI, collapsible menus, forms etc so I have just left it as-is and just kept making the pages to match the style. I am more competent in 16bit assembly, C++ Visual Basic; not HTML.
You can read all of the content without stupid ads, cookies and plugins or even sign in messages just to view a webpage but with most modern sites it can make it difficult but here it is all there for you so you don't have to look behind all the pop-ups.
What about if the connection you are using to view this is poor? Well, don' worry because this is way faster than many other modern pages. When you connect the browser won't have to download all of the CSS, JS, PHP, images and all the complex HTML code; only text and the images that are needed are downloaded.

Compatibility

In today's world, you don't give much thought to whether the page will load or not because the computers we used are more than capable but many years ago that wasn't the case. Some pages wouldn't work at all because of the computer that was used to view it. You can view this on pretty much any browser there is. To prove this I have screen grabs of this site working on a variety of OS's

Index page running a variety of OS's
Windows 3.11
Windows 95
Windows 98
Windows 2000
Windows XP
If it can run on Windows XP then it can run on anything!

Security

A lot of sites now have code in them that grab some information like your location and IP address and possibly more. Some of them ask for logins only for the information to be sent and stored unencrypted and in plain text!. This page will never ask you for any personal information or logins because I don't need any of that info. I am not an expert of security but I know that this is very, very secure. I can't guarantee that the hosting service doesn't but you can bet that this HTML doesn't. This doesn't mean that this can't be hacked but it means you can't. Just don't download and go to dodgy sites, use a VPN, and keep an anti-virus active and you should be fairly safe.
