ABOUT THE AQUARIUS SET
(written by the creator of this amazing graphics - Moyra)
This Jewelette is uniquely qualified to take liberties with Aquarian imagery, both as an astrologer and as an Aquarian. So I did. However, amethysts, which are part of the two traditional glyphs, the one for Aquarius itself and the one for its ruler, are the Aquarian birthstone. Truth be told, the ultimate Aquarian birthstone would be a star. Slightly impractical, but most fitting to the sign's energies. There are no metals per se associated with the sign, except aluminum, which I decided was far too prosaic.

You may be stumped as to why "Aquarius", which sounds like a water sign, has lightning bolts, stars and clouds all over it. Aquarius is not a water sign. Its an air sign, like Libra and Gemini. The energy of air is mental, and Aquarius is the sign of revolutions, enlightenment, and yes, the future. The lightning symbolizes the abrupt form of enlightenment on the more difficult side, and the brilliance, on the more harmonious side, brought on by Uranus, the ruler of the sign.

The Divine Water Bearer is not dispensing water but enlightenment and the freedom that can result from it.

And since I have the Aquarian podium (together with all of *you*, because this is the most democratic sign), I would like to say a few words about the whole "Age of Aquarius" thang.

Astrological ages are marked by which particular slice of the great big pie in the sky (The Zodiac) the sun rises in on the Vernal Equinox (that's the first day of Spring). Despite the hue and cry (based on that song from the musical "Hair") about the "rising of the age of Aquarius", the Sun will continue rising in the slice of sky pie called Pisces - on the upper fish - for another 400-500 years or so. Therefore, we are not *yet* in the Age of Aquarius.

And finally, why has the little Aquarius lady I painted got red hair? Actually, its very, very strange, but I know more Aquarius, Aquarius rising, Moon in Aquarius or ruling planet in Aquarius redheads than of any other sign. And this includes us elective redhead Aquarians. Traditional astrology ascribes red hair to Aries and its ruler, Mars, but a disproportionate amount of redheads have strong Aquarian signatures in their chart, or a very prominent Uranus, the ruler of Aquarius.
