If you decide to take a walk from the hotel I'm working in to the river, this is the beach you will end up to. Untouched and charming, you could walk on the river shore for miles and miles like this.
Some of the pictures I prefer out of all the ones I've taken so far. This is a view from the Mont-de-la-Croix-de-Clermont. Spring is just starting to show it's yellow leaves before turning to a darker green.
Not knowing where to go this day, I decided to take the car and stop wherever I felt like stopping. I ended up here, in Cap-aux-Oies. Very quiet place in early spring, but well know for it's nudist beach during summer.. The only ones showing their belly to the sun at this time of year are the hundreds of fishes that the seagulls have taken out of the water to eat on the rocks.
What do you do on a rainy day ? No you don't stay in front of TV, you go out and enjoy nature's hidden treasures.. This is exactly what I did when I went to Baie-des-Rochers this day. End of May the summer isn't yet what we could call nice and warm, and this is what you could see this day. Arriving when the river is at high tide, going for a walk and coming back for low tide...at least now I know why it's called "Rocks-Bay", you can only see them appearing slowly with the rythm of the tide. I couldn't believe my eyes when I saw this iced waterfall which was still there in the mid-June. It stood proudly in middle of the bay, contrasting with the dark green of the pine trees.
There is two national parks near where I live, and one of them is Parc-des-Grands-Jardins. I've already been to this one once (see pics on the 1st page..). This time, the track is called "La Pinde", nice and easy way through the different pine woods of the region. At this time of year, don't even dream of going near a lake without being "eaten" by mosquitos. It's a small price to pay if you want to appreciate the view.
The VW-beetle meeting only starting later on this day, I had plenty of time to visit the Isle-aux-Coudres. Very quiet place, and very interesting scenery to look at.. We had the pleasure of observing 8 herons in the bay you see in the last picture. The rock formations from the first three pictures where pretty amazing too (only a selection here). I need to go back to this island to finish taking all the photos I wanted to but didn't have the time to take.
One day we decided to go kayaking in the Haute-Gorges-de-la-Riviere-Malbaie national park. Nice and hot summer day, cruising slowly along the river and stopping from time to time to take pictures or eat. I went with two french friends visiting Quebec for a few month. To strat with you have to fight against the current, even if it's not a strong current, we reached a point where we couldn't go forward anymore, so we paddled back to the starting point...much easier with the wind and current helping you.
15 days of fun, music, and art in the streets for Quebec city at the beginning of July: it's called the Festival d't du Qubec. On the far left you have an idea of the streets in the old part of Quebec. Next right is the type of street circus you would discover everytime you change streets. Then right and far right are 2 concerts I went to, obvisouly you understand easily why I chose these ones. Far right you can see the White Cockatoo Performing group, all didge, singing and dancing the traditionnal aborigines way. Then middle right, is the Marc Valle Trio, a band from Quebec with an Australian didge player.
QUEBEC
And what did we find parked on the streets? an old Renault 4L and if you look closely it even has french number plates..
Litlle 2 day-trip with my parents around the Lac Saint-Jean.. Once again the pictures say more than my words, but I'll just say what and where it is. Top 2 left, is Sainte-Rose-du-Nord on the northern part of the Saguenay Fjord. Then pictures en the right where taken at one of our stops for a quick lunch before continuing our journey.
Saguenay Lac-Saint-Jean..
Stopping at Saint-Jeanne-d'Arc you could see first of all the old wind and water mill (left and right), not in use anymore, but still in pretty good condition. If you continue the road a bit further you could find this covered bridge completely made of wood and this old barn typical of the ones you could see in Quebec (below)
This would be different landscapes you could see during our trip, different places, different time of day, different scenery...what more could you ask for when you are visiting..
In the town of La Baie you could find this big pyramid made entirely with "give way" road signs. It's the HA-HA Pyramid, and it also opens in order to become a stage for the town's live concerts.
A place we stopped at to taste their spicy french fries and fajitas with a nice and cold Corona. Despite what you could think, it wasn't for the beetle we stopped, I even didn't see it at first, my VW radar wasn't working very well this day..
Some friends came to visit too, on the picture in the middle you can see Fanny and Brice. This day we went for a walk in the nationnal park Hautes-Gorges-de-la-Rivire-Malbaie. A very hard and long walk, but worth it, the time spent together, the view, a few wild strawberies and a few pictures to remember.
Our time together didn't stop there, we also went for a day towards Tadoussac.. After an early departure, we left for a horse ride in Baie Ste-Catherine (photo on left and right), and then on for a whale watching tour. My digital camera only being very basic didn't allow me to take any pictures of the whales. But you can see below different points of view between Baie Ste-Catherine and Tadoussac..
The next two days we spent on the other side of the St-Lawrence River.. A very early departure towards St-Simeon take the ferry for Rivire-du-Loup. We slowly went north, stopping wherever we felt like it. And we finally decided to spend the night at Le Bic. A very nice place, the view from the Bed and Breackfast we stayed in is shown right. and the sunsets are said to be amongst the most beautiful ones in the world. Well I'll let you decide after seeing the pictures below..
The same evening we went on a moonlight kayaking adventure. We came on full moon time and they organise excursions on the bay you can see above and left. Really a good experience enjoyed by everyone. And guess what, it was also the night when you could see most shooting stars in the year too. And the next day we went to a parc, with plenty of lakes see photo of the wooden sign. . We didn't stop at all of them, but we saw a few and also saw a few wild animals.
Always looking for nice places to play the didge, this is what we've found with Simon on a day we went for a walk along the rail track and river shore. A natural stone cave, but it's still not loud enough. And then, we found this water evacuation tube which obviously at this time of year is dry and clean. We had one person inside the tube and one playing at the entrance. The sound couldn't go anywhere but along the metalic tube and our ears..
