Vaulting - Gymnastics on Horseback.
I love vaulting! I run one of only a few groups in our area. I think it has got to be one of the best sports in the world! I won't go into detail about it, but if you want more information, go to the American Vaulting Association site. It describes the sport in detail and has some great photos. It is probably the best vaulting site in the world at the moment. For an Australian feel, go to the NSW Vaulting Council. Vaulting is best described as gymnastics on a moving horse. A series of compulsory movements are performed, as well as a freestyle, or Kur. The scores for all are combined to get the final score. Beginners vault at the walk, more advanced vaulters go at the canter. If you would like to learn about vaulting, or come to a training session to try it out, please email me. I will be more than happy to help you out! We train Tuesday and Friday afternoons.
Below are some photographs taken at various competitions around Australia. More to come! Click on picture to get a larger image. These are also free of copyright so you may download them if you like. I just ask that you let me know where you are going to put them so I can have a look!

These pictures were taken at the NSW Championships in 1994. We have (from left) Frances Marsh on Yovi, me on Yovi, me doing barrels, Stefanie Dawson on Yovi, me mounting on Yovi.
The left hand picture is me on Barnaby at the Nationals 1995. The other two are at the 1994 ACT champs, and are me doing barrels and Siobhan Turtle on Vee Bee.
Check out the results from State Championships! Stefanie came 2nd in the walk class, Amanda came 7th in the walk class, I came 7th in C class, and our barrel team gained a second placed mark however due to a technicality we had to compete HC. Well done guys!!! Our thanks go to Hunter Valley for the loan of Rebel, and to NEqC for the loan of Maninga! More results from the Christmas Competition are on the team page, where you can also meet everyone on the team, as well as the horses!
