I-I...I'm, uh...I just saw it...scared...panicked. Thinking. Brain hurty. Oh...My...God! This is exactly what I wanted- for Lorelai to propose,...not for Rory to drop out, of course- although we all knew that was coming. It was in the promo. The WB wouldn't just lie. Oy with the poodles already! okay. I just need to calm down...breathe...breathe. Oh my god. Okay. Um, I love you Luke! Wasn't that proposal adorable? It's hard to type cause my hand are like shaking so much. Uh...I think that Lorelai relized how much Luke has been there- as a father to Rory, as a friend to...both of them I guess, but mainly Lorelai right now. Of course Luke would or will say yes...lost my train of thought...oh yeah!, but maybe since Luke said "what?" (really probably just surprised and didn't know what else to say) Lorelai thought it was kinda like saying "no". I just hope she doesn't think that he thinks that they are not ready for this step. Before tonight's episode when I watched last week's, I noticed that when Rory said that Luke didn't seem much like a "family man", Lorelai kinda nodded sadly.... depressing episode (tonight's), but I'm...happy, I think.
I'll never be able to get to sleep... this week. The WB's mean. Stupid cliffhangers! I sad and happy. Urgh! No, I'm not sad or happy, just all mixed up inside. I guess I'm confused and um... bewildered. I'm glad that Lorelai thinks Rory should still be a journalist... not that I was doubting that she would. I my god, Luke! Say yes! Please, for me. No, no, no! Why wouldn't he? I mean he loves Lorelai more than anyone... ever. She loves him the same amount, ... although I think she just might now be relizing this. I hate the WB! Oh, wait. No, I don't, cause without them there would be no Gilmore Girls and Guys and Luke. I wonder if it would really ruin the show if they were to get married. I'm practically crying here.... Ok finished with that, I think.... I watched that scene like ten times in a row (the DVR wouldn't record the last scene cause the [not] stupid WB made it go over in time- oh, I hate commercials...and Richard and Emily- hate them too). I watched Lorelai listen and reacat to what Luke had to say. She was listening. Finally, she was listening. Even with all the stuff going on with Rory, she had time to listen to her new best friend,... and he is her new best friend (that is, if you can only have one, cause Sookie's not bad at all, but it used to be Rory now it's just not- they've grown apart). I watched as Lorelai listened to Luke. The whole time, wearing that necklace. They are the sweetest couple. I just hope that Lorelai proposed out of love, not out of spite for her parents (which I just now thought of, by the way). I know that Lorelai is not stupid enough to do something like that. They second best thing- after just plain love- would be to get Rory a good, caring father that can actually help her through tough Yalie times and anything else. I think Luke used to be like Richard was in that scene with Rory crying on his shoulder- not as open as possible, hiding things often. Now I think (thanks to Lor he's grown, but...) that Luke is still kind of self consious, and I just hope that Lorelai knows that too, because if she doesn't she might back out of proposing because of that second "what?" Ooh! I hope that Luke actually know that Loelrai is serious, but I mean why wouldn't he? We've all seen how much effort he's out into this relationship (eight years, a horoscope, an ice skating rink, ooh!- the chuppah). They may be kinda earlyish in the boyfriend/girlfriend category, but they've know each other for like eight and a half years. They've been best friends for who knows how long. We know that eventually Luke and Lorelai will get mariied (if you didn't notice, I just remembered the chuppah.), because of that scene in season...oh, can't think of it right now...season 2, I think...anyway, the scene a while ago that show Luke and Lorelai standing under the chuppah looking like they are getting married (love that shot). A list of some of the romantic things that Luke has done through out the series:
-special tv
-new bed
-chuppah
-bought a house (that I now am really hoping that Kirk didn't buy)
-kissed her at her run-through thingy
-bought her flowers
-and a necklace
-and earrings
-is going to say yes (GG premonition)
-asked if he thought he should go on that cruise with Nicole (just a big hint to her that she, of course, missed)
-loved her daughter like his own and more than someone he was actually realted to (jess)
-had that dream that she told him not to get engaged
-ice rink
-loan for inn
-went back to her when her mother told him to (last part not so romantic)
-kept the horoscope from the day the met
-pined for her (hello! Ava Garder, Honey!)
-wants what is best for her, what she wants
-loves her (still hadn't heard him [or her] say it though. [not so] stupid WB!)
I think that the Lane/Mrs. Kim and Rory/Lorelai issues were dealed with in the same episode to show how Rory and Lorelai are growing apart (too obvious?). It shows how Lane used to envy Rory for her relationship with her mother, and now we are seeing this completly different side of Mrs. Kim- an understanding, almost open side.
Rory seems mad when Logan says that Lorelai told him that Mitchum did something to hurt her. "She shouldn't have said anything."- Rory. Does she not want Logan to know? Is she scared of what Logan will think? This makes Rory mad at her mother even more.
"I overreacted."- Rory. So she does realize she overreacted? Then why would she drop out of Yale and move into the pool house if she knows that she's overreacting and should be controlling her emotions and thinking over everything she does very thoroughly.
"You're my girlfriend, Rory. He should have treated you better than that."- Logan, of course. As his father mentions, they (Mitchum and Rory) have extenuating circumstances so he tries to go easy on her- fails miserably. Logan thinks that he should treat her differently, because she's his girlfriend. Not the best characteristic ever. I know some of you think that Mitchum did treat her differently because of the circumstances, just the opposite way of the way Logan meant. I think that Mitchum was truly just saying what he thought. He was giving her career advice. You have to remember that he hasn't even seen any of her articles so hasn't read her writing. She was just there doing assistant type jobs. Mitchum doesn't really have perspective on whether or not Rory would be a good journalist. He just felt like he had the obligation to examine and review what she had done so far. He said that his gut is sometimes wrong. This time it probably is, although it could be that this whole time Rory has been perusing the wrong career. Then again, the only way to define a "right career" would be to follow what you want to do. If Rory wants to be journalist, that's the right career. If not, she should pursue something else.
"I just want to forget this. I just want it to go away."- Rory. Does a great job with that, huh?
"I've got my last final today. I should go over my notes." Ends up not taking the final- just sitting there thinking. Either she didn't know she was going to react by dropping out or just wanted Logan to leave so she could mull.
"Rory stole a yacht. How has your night been?" "What?"
"Rory dropped out of Yale." "What?"
Deja vu
Deja vu
A bunch of travel gifts? Definitely means that if there was any doubt that this job offer included travel, there's not anymore.
Luke didn't realize Lor took the meeting he told her to take until she told him she did. Luke doesn't know how much she really listens/considers what he says. He says, "What about the kids?!" Therefore, she has to think and consider this too. She eventually figures it out, because she's not stupid, and she realizes just how "in this" he is. She's not scared so she proposes.
"Kims don't give up," is said by Mrs. Kim. "Gilmore's don't give up," is not said by Lorelai, but should be said by her, because she worked so hard to get to where she is today. She wants Rory to work that hard to get something great too.
"It'll be nice to have you home for a while."
"Well, I'm glad you feel that way."
Rory originally thinks that she will be able to stay with her mom a foreshadowed above.
"Logan agrees with him [Mitchum]... he never said that he was wrong." Logan blatantly ranted about how awful his father is and how he never wanted her to take the internship in the first place., how his father was a jerk. Rory must not have even been listening to Logan, because he went on and on about how he thinks his father is wrong. Rory doesn't really seem to care what he thinks. These two lines must be foreshadowing to a Logan/Rory break up.
Lorelai is fine with the fact that Rory is changing her mind about being a journalist. She says that she should just take a few classes here and there to see what it is that she wants to do- of corse only if she's sure that she doesn't want to be a journalist. I totally agree with her here.
"I just got everything I need."- Lorelai. "Everything" means someone to be there to be there for her, help her. She needs back up. Since in the end the grandparents end up siding with Rory (Her whole family is very persuasive. This probably rubbed off on her.), she has no one to back her up, no one to help, no one to be there. That's when she realizes how much Luke has been there for her, has offered to be there for her, and will be there for her. She realizes that Luke is the only one she can trust. Once Luke starts to rant about how he can help, he just confirms those realizations. To hold onto the only one she can trust, she proposes.
When did Lane get her glasses back? I thought she got contacts.
"We will find her some sort of suitable job."- Richard. A job, huh? Well, maybe that will lead to something inspirational or important. Hope so, maybe.
"I thought that we were going to stick together and convince Rory to go back to school."- Lorelai. When she's disappointed an her parents for not following through with getting Rory some help, she goes to Luke's. There he rants about a plan he think of to keep Rory in school. She realizes how much he cares for Rory and her and knows that he will follow though with whatever he promises. Again, she realizes that she can trust Luke and only Luke (Sookie too, but she has Jackson and the kids and it's beyond the point). [I probably could have combined this and the other "trustable Luke" one, but couln't figure out how, sorry.]
"She came to me."- Richard. This really must have hurt Lorelai. |
