Counterfeit Apologetics The web link below to Beliefnet.com is presented as an end-time example of the degree to which certain factions have gone to counterfeit the Gospel of Jesus Christ and to corrupt the fundamental teachings of Scripture. The use of readily identifiable media figures, such as Peter Jennings, is an attempt to lend credibility and authenticity to secularized presentations of Christian Apologetics [a theological defense of Christian Doctrine] when in truth, the intent is to distort and deny: the sacredness of Scripture, the life of Jesus, the works and miracles He performed and to undermine the Holiness of God Himself. This treatise was first aired by ABC News and narrated by Peter Jennings and now is posted by Beliefnet.com. This firmly reveals the present day truth of II Timothy 4:3-4 which reads ..... "4:3-4. for the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears; and they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables." Two text commentaries presented in the Search for Jesus treatise have some marginal redeeming merit {such as "Old Wine and Wineskins"}, yet the preponderance of solicited articles would best be described as interfaith theological convolutions, pathetic Jesus Seminar rehashing's and/or ecumenicalized unitarian compilations. Bottom-line, the underlying tenant in this treatise is "there are many roads leading to Rome, yet all arrive at the same place" ... thus, they present there are many pathways to God, just "choose one and stay with it". (albeit, John 14:6 - which states emphatically "Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by Me.") This then is the type of 'false gospel' referenced in Matt. 24:24 - which reads "for there shall arise false christs, and false prophets, and show great signs and wonders; insomuch that, if it were possible, they shall deceive the very elect." Don' be taken in by "media talking heads" attempting to present themselves as theologians or "counterfeit theological scholars" attempting to be 'politically correct' in their interfaith-ecumenism. Both will lead you to a counterfeit gospel spoken of by the Apostle Paul in Gal. 1:6-11.
