Fun With Dad Least Resistance Training
In the last 3 months I have used the training techniques recommended by the BLM.  These techniques include: the construction of a staight shute with relief pen; Fishing for Mustangs by Frank Bell; and operant conditioning using clicker training by Alexandra Kurland.
I also realized that a working knowledge of wild horse behavior and respect for the power of a 600 pound wild animal were critical.
On arriving at the ranch, Destino was terrified.  He would stay 30 feet from an approaching person, and or bolt around his enclosure until the person left.

In the photos below my husband, Kurtis, is teaching Des to stand, walk, trot, canter, and gallop along a 100 yd section of fencing in a 3 acre paddock.
Using no physical restraint Des and Kurtis enjoy play time.
Des is now free to move about the field Follow me Des!
Des wants to stay within a four foot distance Oops better put on the breaks Des.
Let's do some flexing.
Kisses please.  "I love you Dad."
Just for fun let's gallop!
Come in. Whoa!
