Formerly the site of Kilarney's Jamaican Brewery, the tri-story Old World Social Club is conveniently located near Canarsie, Gravesend, Coney Island and Bay Ridge. Purchased by then-22-year-old Mars Marsden in the late summer of 1901 and renovated into an elite club for the advancement of favorable political agendas and exclusive, high priority business deals. Marsden, the Club proprietor, runs a thick chain of docks along the southern shoreline of east Brooklyn used primarily for importing - and then fencing - black marketed or otherwise illegal goods. He employs a good number of the area's citizens directly or indirectly, and has built up a level of immunity with the local law enforcement agencies. Marsden runs a tight ship and makes everything his business, making sure his first priority, his territory and business therein, go unchallenged at any cost.
