the bottom!draco emporium

you'd think they just had sex. but they're actually glued to the floor.

why?

why bottom!draco and not bottom!harry?

okay, this little fanon thing would work, if the books like, didnt exist. i can see top!draco *grumbles angrily* but since theres absolutely NO bottom!harry, theres no worries.
case in point, page 149 of the paperback copy of sorcerers stone:
The Remembrall glittered in the sun as [Malfoy] held it up.
Give it here, Malfoy, Harry said quietly. Everyone stopped talking to watch.

he didnt even shout -- he expected to be listened to. now, the fact that he was more than likely has something to do with the fact that hes harry potter, but he still expected it. not something that a particularly passive or abused person would do -- or, if it is, not part of the classical abused profile a lot of people tend to put harry into in bottom(or suicidal)!harry fics.
Malfoy smiled nastily.
I think Ill leave it somewhere for Longbottom to find-- how about --up a tree?
Give it
here! Harry yelled, but Malfoy had leapt onto his broomstick and taken off.
Harry grabbed his broom.
durdeedur stuff about flying being great.
Give it here, Harry called, or Ill knock you off that broom!
Oh, yeah? said Malfoy, trying to sneer, but looking worried.
Harry knew, somehow just what to do.
blah blah, harrys great at flying No Crabbe and Goyle up here to save your neck, Malfoy, Harry called.
The same thought seemed to have stuck Malfoy

THIS is the perfect example of the harry/draco relationship!
harry: you give me that!
draco: no. you can't make me.
harry: wanna bet?
draco: ... err... *attempts to weasel out of it like he always does because he does not face problems head on like a dominating person but tries to wiggle out of them (because he is very wiggly)* but! it's too late! because harry will PIN him down and force him to-- errrhm. right. okay. ^__^;;

and, yes, of course there abused folk who dont fit into any sort of profile, but how harry acts isnt only not passive, its a tad controlling.

you still don't believe me? you think that i'm making up controlling-ness when there is none? fool!

In the words of the ever-wise wellington: Dude, Harry is one of the biggest egoists of all time...the way he makes everything his responsibility...he's a control freak! He's also rather self-important. And just because he's a tad introverted doesn't mean he's got major self-esteem issues. I mean...dude, those belong to Ron, archetypically speaking, and even he is a hardly down on himself as much as he's down on the rest of the world. Draco's got self-esteem problems because it's been driven into him by a demanding father whose opinion he actually cares about (as opposed to say the Dursleys whose opinions Harry doesn't care about one bit). I mean, Harry knows the Dursleys are idiots...they don't effect his esteem so much because he knows they're full of bull. If you look at canon, Harry is completely hateful toward his family (not that they don't deserve it or anything), he never makes an effort to please them...the only time he gets self-conscious is when his fame comes into question at Hogwarts...and that's where ego comes in. Harry is angry and whiny and selfish, but hardly lacking in self-esteem. He's overconfident if anything.

i agree with that completely, and she worded it so well, i didnt want to change anything she said or paraphrase it. ^^;;;;
i think one of the reasons people dont pick up on this part of harrys personality is because hes a nice guy. you can be confident and hate people and still be nice, and since he is, it doesnt really stick out.

nooooow ... the reason why i think harry is top and not bottom is, strangely, because of the dursley's. they blow the things that he does way out of proportion. they react to the tiniest detail of everything he does. its in a negative way, but it still gives him a lot of power, making him the center of their lives. it only makes sense that a five year-old getting treated as if he just blew up a building for asking a question about his parents would have some sort of ego problem, either way. they give him way too much power over their lives.

some people write harry as being not all that concerned with which position he takes in the relationship, and thats the only one i can even swallow-- i dont read them, mind you, but it doesnt bug me that they exist.

HOWEVER! i do believe that draco is going to be the one who dictates who is going where...

to do anything with draco, save a passing slur in a fic, youre going to have to make some assumptions about his character, as all his character is so far is a insult maker.

you can go with many things, but it pretty much boils down to whether or not he really means what he says to harry and company.
i think that he means it because if he doesnt, then im not a draco fan, im a fan of his mask, but, i digress.
i can live with two basic versions of canon!draco --

theres draco-who-means it (A)-- draco can back up what he says, and hes going to defend what he says, even if what he says to do so is a bunch of madness. hes either very blunt and callous or smooth and slippery and very sneaky. this draco doesnt pull on harrys heartstrings, and if he does, its unintentional. he doesnt ever apologize and hes probably still very rude and malfoy-like to everyone. this draco seems to be easy to write, so theres a lot of him out there, but only a few actually get him down well, and i love those writers, i do.
top!draco, yes? no! >_< we still have top!harry to deal with. now, if harry is head-over-heels in love with this draco, then he might bend for him. but can you really picture harry letting himself get topped by this brat? course, it can be done, and it can be written very well. i just really like my dracos bottomed. hmmm... *pats bottomed draco*

and draco-who-means-it (B)-- when it all comes down to it, draco is a classic bully, all bark and no bite. and when you corner bullies (minus the crabbes and goyles), theyre going to want to squirm away. plus, if harry were to corner draco with something that he basically as no idea about, a real relationship, he wont know what to do. harry would, and harry would automatically step in and take control. even if harry doesnt know how to handle that, how he handles new experiences is sort of to plunge right in--i see draco as a testing the waters kind of guy.
im not talking about on an actual experience level --even though, say what you will, i have serious doubts about JKR intending the slytherin commonroom to be the home for orgies (albeit, bring JKR into any slash argument is ridiculous)-- im talking about all that love-dovey, my-hearts-all-warm stuffs. when done well, i like this draco.

then theres the draco who doesnt mean what he says, tends to be abused and hopelessly in love with harry. if he manages to top erk. im not going to even try to understand that.
theres a whole other vein i could go down with a!draco, but i find that i really want to end this before it gets to be three pages.

squeaky shoes?

sheesh! aren't those annoying? i hate them! i hate it even more when it's my shoes, and people are all ... starin at me. and thinking, "jeez, why are her shoes squeaky? it's annoying. i wish they weren't."

and what about ron/draco?

people who ignore the ron/draco vibes in the books -- and are slash fans -- are mad. angry people! angry people who can't see what's floating right in front of their faces!

i mean ... ron has actually tackled draco.
and then they rooooooolled around on the ground.
uhm... ignoring the fact that they were, like, 12.
draco goes out of his way to annoy/pester ron; he doesn't do this-- as far as we know-- to any of the other weasley's, any other member of his school year, really. yes, he could very well be doing this to annoy harry, but he really focuses in on ron.
i don't think he started out thinking, "oh boy, i'm going to annoy this redhead because i happen to like redheads and hope that one day, if i annoy him enough, he will tackle me and force me into submission and then i would become his sex slave"-- err okay, no.
i think that he was annoying harry, and realized that ron is much more responsive and fun to bother! wheee! so he started focusing in on him more. ^___^
if... shee. okay. if they actually got together, i can imagine ron having a picture perfect idea of their relationship, making him become a bit more passive, but that would only last if draco went along with it. and i can't picture draco doing that-- he'd be constantly be making sure he knew this wasn't going to happen. they would annoy each other, and then they would wrestle. ^________________^
and since ron is bigger, ron would WIN! YES! >)

why eyebrows?

you see, eyebrows make sure that we don't get an access of dust particles and other nasty things that live in our hair in our eyeballs. why they are the shape they are, why they stop when they do, why they're as thick as they are, i have no idea.

why the black background?

i like the color black. it's very death-like and grim. and when you see black, you don't think of top!draco. because black is scary, and everyone knows that draco needs to be protected when he is scared. harry or ron or snape or percy or maybe even seamus would happily protect him. because they are very top.
