The only way to know God is by accepting His Son Jesus Christ(John 14:6). You can do so by simply asking the Lord to save you from sin. You may simply pray "Lord Jesus save me" with a sincere heart and you will be saved (Romans 10:13). You must also pray to the correct Jesus. The one who is 100% God and 100% man (John 1:1,14)
After salvation comes discipleship. During discipleship you gradually become more and more like Jesus. The keys to discipleship are a heart that wants to change, prayer, reading the Bible, good christian friends and a good church.
