Yule Ball
John Chang
First I would like to say welcome back to Professor Lockhart who returned from a many month break recently. Well, Welcome back Professor! Second I would like to announce what Professor said in what I believe is his first post back. The Yule Ball is arriving fast. It shall come on December 17th and House Couples will be decided. The couples are due Wednesday December 10th. Good luck to the nominees.
Hogwarts at Christmastime
By Yaxley Chambers
The season of giving has struck and passed this year at Hogwarts in what feels like no time at all. Every year the students and the staff change in the month of December, the school falls under a blanket of joy and blanket of snow that changes the mood into Christmas. Classes are a breeze and all anyone can think about, even Professor Snape, is the upcoming Yule Ball, considered by many to compete with the Halloween Ball for the best dance of the year. This year we had the introduction of House Kings and Queens, many lovely choices represented their houses at the dance in their finest. Further, the staff was represented by Professor Kelina Bliss as Queen escorted by her Kings, that's right plural, Professors Stephan O'Connell and Tom Riddle. Not only was the ball a blast but the season of giving was certainly upon the castle. The annual Secret Santa is in effect and everyone is in love with the spirit. While this reporter is, like many, sad to see the
holiday go, it is good to know that we can always count on Hogwarts to make our Christmas dreams come true.
Bulletin Board Decorations (P/S)
By some person that happened to be around...
Now that Christmas is here, the Bulletin Board has seen yet another change of appearance. One fine morning, someone sneaked inside unseen and pulled a lot of fine decorations out of their sleeves. Although it is widely believed to be due to the fantastic job of Professor Opal, after she has decorated the Bulletin Board before, this student believes differently.

As widely known, Santa's little helpers are busy all over the world, why should they not make their way to Britain and especially Hogwarts to bring the magical students a lot of fine Christmas spirit? The castle's house elves were sure busy preparing the annual Christmas feast in order to make it as perfect as it was known to be. I can just imagine Professor Dumbledore sending an urgent owl to Santa, asking for help to ace the school. Sure thing it looked brilliantly awesome,  Professor Opal's creative skills, or not.

Just kidding, Professor Opal. Your banners ace, that's for sure! * thumbsup * Thanks a lot!
Yule Ball Scandal!
By: An Anonymous Hufflepuff
While attending the Yule Ball, this Hufflepuff observed one Aidan Smith dancing with four different girls, none of which were Miss Teagan Kincade! This reporter was shocked to see the second year Ravenclaw dancing with a couple of Paddingtons, a Gryffindor and this reporter herself.  When asked about the incident, Mr. Smith became very angry and threatened both this reporter and one Wildas Haim of Ravenclaw, who could not be reached for comment. The relationship between Miss Kincade and Mr. Smith have graced the pages of the Owl Gazette before, and it is doubtless that many people know about the two, especially after the antics of one Lynn Jennings, who told Miss Kincade that she and Mr. Smith were dating. However, it was quite surprising to see Mr.Smith dance with four different girls before he danced with his date, and then when he did dance with Miss Kincade, did not tell her about the incident. One can only hope that Mr. Smith speaks up before Miss Kincade happens upon this article.
Professor Snape Gets in the Spirit
Luna Lovegood
Christmas comes but once a year and with the Christmas season comes carolers, bringers of the Christmas spirit. You see carolers young and old around every Christmas and some of them are much unexpected. This Christmas, some people were able to witness one of the most unexpected caroling scenes there could be: Professor Snape and his gang of potions masters. You heard me right. Professor Snape went Christmas caroling on Christmas Eve. Who would have thought?

The groups songs we're in quite a variety. They sang songs such as Away in the Dungeons', 'Grandma Got Ran Over by a Reindeer', and even 'The Friendly Beasts'. They went around in Santa and elf hats and reindeer antlers. Were you lucky enough to get to hear a song or two from this group?
My Favorite Things
By Gawyn Crossguard
Raindrops on kittens and whiskers on blue satin sashes, bright ponies and warm woolen kettles, brown snowflakes and creamy mittens tied up with noodles, girls in paper packages and crisp apple eyelashes. These are a few of my favorite things. Door strudels and sleigh noses and dog bites with strings, wild goose poop and muddy, rusty springs. These are a few of my favorite things.

Some other things I like during the holiday season are:
- Putting those toy soldiers Muggles get into the Christmas tree, so they can spy on Santa, and tell me what I'm getting.
- Following the tradition of hiding a pickle in the tree, and the first to find it gets an extra present.
- To take a little ball of snow, and put it in one of my sibling's hands while they're sound asleep.
- Shovel driveways
- Try to be the first to wake up and yell "Happy New Year!" in the hopes of getting a dime.
Boards At Hogwarts
John Chang
Invision seems to be having problems so I think for a little while the Common Rooms and BB are off limits. I think they should be getting this fixed soon as the PM System was. Lets just all be patient as things get back to normal. I really hope this happens soon because my friend was excited because he got his sorting results and now he can only earn points. I will keep up to date with this in other articles.

PAD Fingered In Phony PM Scandal !

As many of you have probably heard through the grapevine, our beloved Headmistress has been targeted by a few disgruntled students as someone who pries into the private PMs of our members.  This couldn't be farther from the truth!  No admin on any of our forums has the ability to read other members PMs.  It is not a function of IBF boards & it cannot be done.  You can ask any admin on this site & they'll tell you it's not possible.  You can even contact IBF yourself & ask them if it's possible.  They will tell you it's not.

The reason behind this PM scare is simply because these students were doing things through the PM system that are against site rules & it was discussed in the open forum of the Great Hall Chat during the Yule Ball.  A cloaked staff member saw the conversation where the action was being talked about & informed the Headmistress of it by sending her a copy of the chat log during that period of time.  Being caught red-handed didn't make these students own up to their mistake & take responsibility for it.  Rather, they decided to turn the tables on our Headmistress & finger her as the villain in the situation claiming she was reading members PMs, even after receiving an e-mail from PAD herself where she clarified for them she doesn't have the ability to read members PMs even if she wanted to.  Their malicious rumor seems to have convince many on the site that she cannot be trusted & PAD's is not a safe place to be, when the fact of the matter is they're overlooking the fact that they broke site rules & got caught doing it by discussing it in front of others in an open forum where anyone could see what they were up to.

Word to the wise, if you want to break site rules (& you better not!), don't brag about what you're doing in the chat room where others are present.
