Twilight
By Makayla Malfoy

Lately in the Penshire Common Room there has been a lot of discussion over the Movie Twilight. It hasnt just been the movie but the Twilight Saga too, well mostly the movie. I decided with the weekend release just passing in the US, and the release date coming around the corner for every where else, Id give my thoughts on the movie and the book. I read the books like a month before the movie thanks to one of my best friends. I didnt think Id like it because she explained to me that it was about a vampire, Edward Cullen, and a mortal (human if you prefer), Isabella (Bella) Swan, who fall in love with each other. Bella finds out what Edward really is form her friend Jacob Black (who later in the series realizes hes a vampires worst enemy). When she confronts Edward she tells him shes not scared that shes only scared to lose him. Later Bella and the Cullens come across a trio of nomadic vampires by the names of James Victoria and Laurent. James being a tracker decides to make up his own game which is to track Bella and kill her. Of course good always conquers over evil. Basically I was wrong on saying I wouldnt like the Saga instead I fell in love with the books and was very anxious to see the movie.
Summit Entertainment had a very short time to make the movie, but when Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince release date got moved Summit hurried and jumped up on the open slot for Twilight.  Everyone was worried how it would turn out. A lot of people didnt think it would fallow the book or anything, but they actually did an amazing job on it. Summit fallowed the story line of the book excellently even thought they left some parts out you could totally tell they did well fitting 500 pages of a book into a 2 hour movie. The fan base was big before the movie came out but seemed to get bigger the closer the finished movie came out. Boys and girls of all ages went and saw it, a lot even tried to make the midnight showing of it on Thursday! My old senior English teacher loves the books and cant wait to see the movie.
The following is a review of the book and movie 'Twilight'...IT MAY CONTAIN SPOILERS!
Robert Pattinson, some of us know him as Cedric Diggory in Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, did an excellent job of portraying Edward Cullen in the movie using an American Accent through the whole movie, though there were some parts where you could hear the British accent coming out. His facial expressions even matched most of what I pictured in reading the book including the adorable crooked smile Bella loves! His lines were delivered with the passion in which I also pictured. Kristen Stewert plays Bella Swan and to me she did a better job than I expected! She delivered her lines perfectly and the chemistry between her character and Robs seems real! The only line I had any trouble with is the line in the forest when she says shes not afraid, she seemed terrified! Thats the only line that did do the justice it was suppose to.
Kellan Lutz plays Emmett Cullen, thought not in the most of the movie, he was amazing. I have to admit he was a hottie. I loved the way he jumped in the bed of Bellas truck when it came time for her to leave Forks because of James. I was not expecting it but I loved how they did it. You could tell he was doing his best to support his brother for his love of a mortal.
Taylor Lauthner who plays Jacob Black did amazing job. Never had a doubt that hed be so good on being Jacob. Not really being in the movie you could see his feelings forming more and more for Bella. Which makes me have no doubt hell be amazing in keeping Bella company in the next movie!
Alice Greene plays Alice Cullen and she was so adorable!! Just like I had picture Alice. The grace she had was amazing! I do wish they had done better on her power when Bella was running from James in the hotel. Nikkie Reed plays Rosealie Hale and I have to admit she was like perfect! I could totally see her hatred and jealousy of Bella coming from her in all her lines, though there were few. I seriously could not picture anyone else playing Rosealie any better. She actually made me dislike the way she treated Bella an Edward!
I think Jackson Rathbone, playing Jasper Hale, could of done a little better especially in his facial expressions. Everyone I know has said it looked like he was in pain. Yes he needed to show some way of showing his feelings towards Bella so to say, other than that he was good. James, Victoria and Laurent - the nomadic vampires, better casting than I thought. You could see the desire of human blood in their eyes and bodies, especially James. James passion to kill Bella wasoh whats the word.intimidating. The way they did Victoria looking at Bella and Edward, you could see her passion to go after them because they are the reason she lost something important to her.
All in all, minus a few parts of the book they didnt put in, I think the movie was amazing. You could tell where the story was going and how people really cared for each other. Rather it be a love triangle or love for family. All the characters are played well and even though its not how people pictured it, I mean come on you cant make it like EVERYONE sees it can you, it still did its justice to the book. So, in my opinion, anyone who has read Twilight or hasnt it for that matter, should go see it. Yes guys, even you. You may not be into love story but this is more than a love story, every guy I know has liked it. So you may enjoy it as well. Well until New Moon Ill catch you later!
