| Favorite Costumes
Beonca Aims In the common room we had a thread asking what your favorite costume was when you were young and what you would want to go as this year. Here are some of the responses! Beonca - My favorite costume when I was little was Pippy Longstockings, though many people didn't know who I was. I had a wig of red hair in two braids that my mom rigged to stick out, and had a short dress of polka-dots with red & white stripped leggings and paten leather buckle shoes. It was fun to walk around with my braids sticking out and trying to get in a door turning my head sideways. I carried a pillowcase for candy, incase it rained, the thing wouldn't get soggy and tear. I want to go as a fairy with wings! I would like to have these gossamer (sp) wings that are attached to the back of my frilly fairly gown. I would have a pouch with 'fairy dust' to sprinkle on people to make them happy. Professor Delia - My favorite costume when I was younger was a devil costume. I was about 4, my first Halloween. Everyone always thought I was a little angel...but I showed them! Timothy Landry - Hmm...I think my favorite costume (that I can remember) was when I went as a giant silver Hershey's Kiss. I was really young, and it was probably the cutest thing ever. I even had a little pointed hat with the "Hershey's Kiss" paper sticking out of it. This year...well, I haven't dressed up for Halloween in a while, but as I'm fairly sure there's going to be a Zombie Walk at my school that day, I'll probably be covered in fake blood with ripped clothing. Gred Weasley - Pippy Longstocking is awesome... Mine is a large piece of paper taped to my shirt that says "No really, this is my Halloween costume...and be in completely normal clothes. Riley Jake - I went as a Flamenco dancer when I was four, and when I was twelve I went as a Chicago Flapper. I think those were my more original costumes. Oh! And I went as Guinevere one year, and a generic princess another year. I was a witch about three or four times. I want to go as Batgirl. That's been my dream since I was about ten. I wanted to sew my own costume and go as Batgirl, but I haven't done so yet. Jess Darkwing - I went as a dark fairy last year, whoot for all of the purple and black. and yea I had to go sideways through doorways because of the wings. Not sure what I'll do this year though, maybe a variation of Harley Quinn or something. Eltanin - I think my favorite costume was when I was six or seven--well, I was in second grade, so I must have been seven. I was just a generic princess, but my mom made my costume for me. I mean completely made the costume. She made up the design, picked out the fabric--it was pink taffeta (I think) with pink lace puffed sleeves--and sewed it herself. She even made my tiara out of wire and beads. She made me a cape, too--a dark red velveteen cape with big pink buttons to hold the clasp. It was literally the only day of my childhood when I thought I looked better than anyone else at school. This year...well, I don't know. My neighbor and a bunch of people she knows are going as Batman villains, and I joked that I should be the Penguin because I have the build for it. I might or might not do that. What I really want to be, but don't think I'll have time to make the costume for, is Darkwing Duck. I am the terror that flaps in the night...I am the grade curve that gives you an F...I am Darkwing Duck! Professor Snape - When I was little, fancy that, I loved my vampire costume. I had those fake teeth, as my fangs had not come in yet. My cape was black silk on the outside and red silk on the inside with the high collar! I wore a mini-tux and white gloves. I was probably ten years old at the time, my next favorite would have to be the year I went as the devil. This year? Maybe I will forego the Sheriff of Nottingham and go as Alan Rickman! Lucy Macknight - When I was 10 or so my friend and I went as fallen angels and that had to be my favorite costume ever but this year if I go to a costume party or something I think I'll be a vampire. Josh York - Is it too late? Because, when I was a kid, I really enjoyed going as the devil, in my red jumpsuit, horns and cool french mustache kind of thing, as well as carrying my trick-or-treat bag around and my devil's stick. |

| Field Trip
by Luna Lovegood Some of you may or may not have heard about how Ravenclaw is having a field trip, and some of you may or may not have heard about how Professor Simbi was thinking about leaving a few of us in Egypt by the pyramids. Well, it has happened and Lucius, Wildas, and I were left behind by one of the pyramids. Wildas, Lucius, and I surely weren't expecting to be left alone there with nothing but the clothes on our back, a spare set each, and our wands. Boy, that was a very disastrous trip. And LUCIUS WAS WEARING AN INDIANA JONES OUTFIT! First came the shock, we really hadn't been expecting to be left alone in the vastness of the desert. And none of us exactly were that great of fans with the other. Wildas and I got off with a bad start when he started talking about Jolie as if she weren't even there and set her locker on fire. And I was still having flashbacks of trying to teach Lucius to fly. Second came the panic, we weren't sure what to do. We even forgot we were a witch and wizards for the brief period! Once that was over and we finally realized the fact that we were magical we calmed down a bit, but not much. None of us could transport our self to the others, nor any place else. It was extremely hot and we couldn't stand the heat. Who ever knew that deserts were so hot? We conjured up some food and water and tents by use of our wands and only hoped that we would be saved soon. Eventually, however, we were rescued by our Head of House and were returned to the common room. Never have I thought that I would be so grateful to see that place again! |
| Ravenclaw Rap

So yay and welcome back you two and welcome to the others! We're going to have a great term this year! Ravenclaw House is currently in the midst of a field trip led by Professor Simbi and Profesor Greenleaf. We're going around the world. Who needs 80 days when you have magic? We're taking the trip over the course of a weekend. Plots are being thought up and people are being left behind. What a trip it is! Also look out in the next issue for results of our current point-a-thon and loads more. But for now we say "Happy October!" |

| Professor Lockhart LEAVES
(Hufflepuff Happenings) By: Teagan Kincade When Professor Lockhart announced in the Hufflepuff Common Room that he would be gone for MONTHS, many of the students didn't know what to think. Questions such as "Bye Uncle. Where are you going?" (John Chang). After the shock seemed to disippate from the students at having a sub Head of House (Thank you, Professor Kelina! :) ), comments such as, "We'll be good," and "Profs, I promise to be good," followed by a couple shifty smilie faces, filled the common room. That was one week before Prof. left. The day he left his announcement and fare-thee-well, the house was exuberantly gracious to him, (of which I am sure he greatly appreciates). Of course his signature "Don't miss me too much!" was the ending of the speech. Despite all of our jokes about wanting gifts and souvenirs, and promising to behave, we were upset, and I'm sure I can account for mostly everyone when I say that he will be missed until his return. As I said to him before his departure, "I'll just bother you like nothing else the minute you return! So be SAFE. Please." And may he return in one piece. Hufflepuff misses you already, Sir!!! |
| A New AHOH
(Hufflepuff Happenings) By: Teagan Kincade Professor Lockhart announced Professor Kelina Bliss's addition to the house as a buffer for his bad news about having to leave for several months. I have to admit that, having never heard of her, I was a bit iffy. My opinion changed immediately, however, when I saw that Professor Kelina was actually interested in what we, as the students, were interested in and what we were doing. She involved herself quickly, and I am sure that this has helped her adjust to the life in the Hufflepuff Common Room. So far, Professor Kelina has engaged us in an RPG sort of as an introduction and getting to know her type of deal, played with us in the Ask us Anything! game, and kept up with the organization of the common room (there's no dust!). Besides that, she's begun discussions on the Monthly and the Inner-House Contests and our Halloween costume theme, and she has even organized and started a Post-a-Thon for the entire common room! Each of these interactions with the professor has been a success, and I am proud to call her an adopted Huff. Welcome again, Professor Kelina, from all of us! |
| New Hufflepuff Students
(Hufflepuff Happenings) By: Teagan Kincade Among the newest students in the Hufflepuff common room are Braedon Stone, Taylor Sparks, Shenilya Jones, Alistar Knight, Ashley Soccer, and Rosie D. Among them, Taylor Sparks is most definitely the most active. She participates in the games often and is Co-Captain cheerleader of Lady Badger Cheerleading Squad. Besides contributing multiple discussions, games, and contests, the Taylor stays involved and active. Alistar Knight is the second most active new student at this point. He has only just arrived, but he has begun RPGing like it's his second nature and was quoted in his introduction thread that he can't wait to get to know everyone. Braedon is the third most active student. He was quoted saying that he was happy how nice everyone in the common room is, and that he looks forward to getting more involved in the games and RPGing as a whole. The other students seem to be a bit shy and have not posted much, but I am sure that we in the Hufflepuff common room can lure them out of their shells! |

| Student of the Month
Professor Tom Riddle The Paddington HOH team recognizes Jenii Chang as our student of the month for September! Jenii has definitely shown a lot of Paddington Pride in the CR! She's our Senior Prefect, writes for the house mag "The Alohomora", participates in most house-wide events like point & posting wars, & she's a member of the Quidditch Team (The Polar Padfoots). Jenii is very supportive of her housemates & helps run our Mentor Program, too. She likes to play the CR games & has been quick in making lots of friends. Jenii lost her internet connections for a few months over the summer & her time online was very limited because of that, but that didn't stop her from getting on whenever she could & continuing to post around & do her duties! Thanks for all your help in the CR, Jenii! Look for more about Jenii in 'The Alohomora!' coming out in October! Congratulations Jenii! We're proud of you! |
| New Paddington Staff Members
By Yaxley Chambers Due to recent troubles that led to the inactivity of Prefect Brady Lennox, Prefect Assistants Rose, and Adie, and our Assistant Head of House Professor Mackenzie Haddington, it has been decided by the remaining staff members to replace Brady. While sad this may be, we did so with the eager and active new Prefect Lana Laramie, who has excelled thus far in the House and in the last month as Prefect. Rose and Adie were replaced with Katlin Sawyer and Soma Cruz, two active members who were eager to help out and have done a lot of work thus far. And the upper-staff members of Hogwarts decided it would be best for us to receive Professor Kat Montgomery as our new AHOH and it's been excellent so far, Prof Kat immediately became a Paddy and we're very excited to have her! We may have hit a short speed bump in August, but Paddington is now back on track and ready to breeze past the other houses for the cup!! |
| The House of Stepford?
By Tyler Keegan No matter whats going on in Paddington house, there are always two certainties you can count on no matter what. One is Katlin Sawyers obsession over our HOH, Prof. Tom, & the other is her constant enthusiastic & bubbly posts everywhere. I dont think theres ever been a day when there hasnt been a post by Katie somewhere in the common room being overly excited about something & swooning over our HOH. As a matter of fact, I cant ever remember a time in the few months Ive known her that shes ever seemed disappointed or sad or even interested in a guy her own age. It got me to thinking is Katie the victim of a hex, possibly the Cruciatus Curse, placed on her by Prof. Tom? Its no secret Prof. Toms hexed & cursed students in the common room before, not to mention his constant reminders in his domain thread The Temple of Tomilicious that we are to worship him. Or could it be she was hit with a very powerful Cheering Charm & slipped some sort of love potion? One can only wonder if Prof. Tom is running his own little version of The Stepford Experiment right here in the Paddington common room, starting with Katie as his first willing guinea pig. The only thing we can be sure of at this point is the day Katie stops smiling & drooling over our HOH is the day the earth will stand still |

| Slytherin Scoop!
Beonca Aims Well, we have recently seen some students and returns! So, the house is starting to get busy. Busy is not the work for the Slytherins working on the latest Inner-house Contest! This discussion is huge and a lot of ideas and suggestions coming in from all in the house. Can't say, of course, what exactly is being discussed, but just know we are going to do our Slytherin best. Currently the house is having a 'Write-Off' and the prizes for the teams are fantastic, we out did our last prize offerings and the articles are flying, even our HOH got into the fray! So, read them and weep! Also, the discussion on the house Halloween dance theme is in full swing, we picked someone right off that was suggested and are flying with it, that is a pun, but you won't get it until the Halloween dance! So you see the house is hard at work and working together! |

| Snakes' Birthdays
by: Riley Jake There are a few birthdays coming up for people in the Slytherin common room. Kayla West turned twenty one on the fourteenth of the month. Rainy Dae became nineteen on the twentieth, and Emma Powell is going to turn fifteen on the fifth of October, and one of our Slytherin prefects - Eltanin Wemyss, is turning nineteen three days after Emma, and Clark Wayne turns a year older on the twelfth of the month. Sapphire and I celebrate our birthdays on the twenty-fourth of October, turning eighteen and fifteen respectively, and Lucianna rounds out the month on the twenty-ninth, celebrating her eighteenth birthday. Happy Birthday everyone! |
| AHOH Changes in Slytherin
Beonca Aims The snakes weren't sure we even liked this idea at first, an assistant for our beloved Head of House, but when we got Professor Kelina Bliss, minds were quickly changed. She came right in and started posting and showed us a funny, sly side of the Herbology teacher! And not only did she do a great job, she brought Threatspimp! Her pet squid was certainly a hit with the house, you would never know when he was going to pop up, or start tossing things. You know eight arms allow for a winning combination when it came to food fights or snowball fights. Trust me; you want Treatspimp on your side! She showed us compassion, humor, and support! Sadly we had to say goodbye just when we were having fun, but she got a higher call and we could understand the need to move her, but we do miss her. Then Professor Delia Macintosh took her place, well, no can take her place, but came in as our new Assistant Head of House, we call her Professor Delia, easier to type! LOL Anyway, she started posting and getting into the swing of things here and now we feel like she has a Slytherin heart. Professor Delia also posts around and gets involved, she doesn't pull any punches which makes her a good fit. So in the end? We think we have had two great opportunities to get to know two really great professors! We miss Professor Bliss, but we also like having Professor Delia here. We're snakes, we can adapt! |
