| OWLs Passers Deserve Praise
By a jealous Ravenclaw It's every student's obligation as students to take the OWL examinations before they graduate. During the '07/'08 term, three students took and passed said exams. The three girls are Cauly of Penshire, Zoey Taylor of Hufflepuff, and Jess Dark Wing of Slytherin. These three did an amazing job. Good work! |
| Hogwarts Congratulates Three Very Smart Girls By Miss. Tree Professor Stephan O'Connell, Assistant Head of House to Gryffindor and Professor of both Transfiguration and Wizarding Occupations, has one other job. He's in charge of the OWL and NEWT testing here at Hogwarts. This year, Professor O'Connell announced that three girls passed the OWL examination. Cauly of Penshire got a 7.75/10, which becomes an A for Acceptable. Jess Dark Wing of Slytherin got an 8/10, which becomes an E for Exceeds Expectations. Zoey Taylor of Hufflepuff got a score of 9/10, which becomes an O for Outstanding. All three girls did such great jobs and will be able to take their NEWTS next year. Great job, eggheads! Hopefully, more students will be taking these exams next year. |
| Cauly Hauster Passes Her O.W.L.S.
Billy Raven The House of Penshire couldn't be more proud! Cauly took her OWLS and passed! Though she is not one to blow her own horn, she does have to be proud of her accomplishments. Somewhere in her couple of years here, she had completed enough classes to take these exams and I, for one, am encouraged by her feat and plan on taking them next time. Something all Shirelings are shooting for come this end of term. Cauly has always been shy, but we have seen her blossom over the year and participating in many RPGs, games, and post wars. This term she even was awarded the position of Assistant Prefect and is doing great! I know she has to be an asset because she is an active Penshire and has always been there when needed. Cauly sense of humor is often seen in the games and RPGs, if you don't join those, you may not know that. So, Cauly, we in the Shire are proud of you and plan on following your lead! Great job!!! |
| Congratulations to Cauly! By Penny Shire It has been announced that Cauly of Penshire was one of only three students to complete their OWL examination. Cauly passed with a grade of Acceptable. Numerically, it was a 7.75/10, which is more than I could probably get! Because of this, Cauly can take her NEWTs next year if she so chooses. Great job to you Cauly! |
| Way to go, Jess! By Patty Ten When the OWL results were posted by Professor O'Connell, Slytherins rejoiced in seeing one of their own on the list for those who passed. Jess Dark Wing completed her OWL exams with a score of 8/10. This gives her an E for Exceeds Expectations. Congratulations Jess! I'm sure there are many people envious of your achievements and your success. Now, with this milestone out of the way, Jess is eligible to take the NEWTs either next year or at her leisure. Once again, great job, Jess! |
| Zoey Shines Above the Rest By Ray Van Claw Recently, it had been announced that three girls completed their OWL examinations last term. While all three did great jobs, one stood out above the others. Zoey Taylor, a Hufflepuff, got an Outstanding on her OWLs with a numerical score of 9/10. This is more than anyone else who took them this year, way to go! Perhaps it's the purple hair that gave her some sort of intelligence boost, who's to say. Now that Zoey's done so well on this, she can take her NEWTs next year. Will she do as well on those as she did on these? Let's wait and see. |
| What? What? What?
By an angry Ravenclaw Last term, three girls took the OWLs with Professor O'Connell. They were Cauly, Zoey, and Jess, respectively from Penshire, Hufflepuff, and Slytherin. When reading this, I became furious. Why is it that no one from Ravenclaw took the OWLs. Aren't we supposed to be the smart house? What happened here? We have many members of our house who are perfectly capable of taking the exams, they just choose not to. I feel one of the main reasons to blame is the fact that we can only take five classes at a time. If we could take more, we'd be more ready for our OWLs sooner. But, still, pump it up, Ravens. Next year, I hope to see a lot more on that list of passers of the exams! |
| Interview with a Temporary Professor Interviewer: Pluto Interviewee: Professor Lunar After Mythical Creature class one day, I was able to catch up with the good professor, and ask her a few questions about the class, and her temporary professorship. When did you first have the idea for conducting such a class? When I had a feeling that I needed to teach so I came up with ideas and then I asked my friends in Chat Box in the Great Hall what they wanted to be taught, they gave me ideas. I looked at them all and then decided the one I liked best and knew the most about, and here I am today. Was it hard to get permission to start the class? No not really, I just had to see if my lessons were good with Professor Ripley. She said they were brilliant so then I went on to ask the lovely Headmistress PAD, she said they were great and asked if I would become a Professor for a summer class first to try it out. I accepted of course. How much time and effort did you put into creating the class? "Loads of time. I had to cram writing five lessons and making the website for it in three days or four days. Because Professor Ripley wanted to put it in before the Summer Club Opened. I put loads of effort also because I wanted it to be great thing for students to come and see. I just redid the whole thing for that purpose actually. How is being a "currently temporary" professor different from being a student? The only thing that is different is the fact I give points and make lessons. But I still have access to my common room I RP there. Have fun like all students do here at PADS. Do you like the position enough to consider it as a possible job after you've finished your schooling at Hogwarts? Of course! I wouldn't have asked to be a Professor if I didn't want to be now would I? How do you think you'll feel when you're not teaching anymore (i.e., when the fall term starts)? I will be saddened not to be teaching you lovely students anymore But I will also be happy because soon as I get out of Hogwarts I shall be coming back to teach But thanks for Having me Riley! And for all of you students who do not wish to take a look at my class, come see me for a meeting, you shall change your mind right after our meeting *shifty* |
| Dueling: The Great and Neglected Sport
By an Avid Dueling Fan Dueling, it's one of the greatest sports of the Wizarding world. Not only is it very good practice for combat spells, but it's a lot of fun and gives people a taste of the real world without danger. In Hogwarts, we have our very own dueling club. Here, students can register their wands, practice potions, and take summer classes. However, as the name suggests, the main thing to do here is to practice with your houses Dueling Club. However, it shocks me to see how little our school dives upon this opportunity. Not only is it a fun way to cast spells and relieve stress, you get points for various meetings. It's a win-win situation! So, why is it that is great pastime is just swept under the rug and forgotten about? I feel the main reason is that there's not enough drive presented by the Professors and staff. With other things, there is honor, glory, and a trophy that you can brag about forever. However, with dueling, there isn't any of that. Maybe it's time we started. Maybe we should have a dueling cup, or at least something to increase motivation. After all, school is about to find and encourage people's interests and strengths. Well, what if some student's was dueling? We have to let them express that. So, I say, we add some more drive and bring the Dueling Club back full force! |
| What Happened to Broomstick Racing? By Green Belt I always like the concept of Broomstick Racing. It had all the things wizards and witches our age enjoy. You can fly, cast spells at each other, as well as have the trill of competition. However, I was disappointed this year at how much it fell though. We only had one race, if that. While I wasn't a racer myself, I enjoyed the atmosphere and how much the other people enjoyed it. So, with the new term coming up, I'm hoping they'll bring it back. Please, Professors? |
| A Wild Weird-Sister Concert
By Yaxley Chambers In one of the favorite games of the BB, Ask a Professor, Hilary Stevens of Gryffindor asked one of the best questions, "If you had Five Tickets to a Weird Sisters concert, which four people from the site would you bring and why?" This question shed some real light on the Professor's of PAD's Hogwarts, and here is what some of them said; Prof. O'Connell said, "First Ticket: Me of Course! Second Ticket: Prof. Opal- she's my boss in Gryffindor and Steve's got a crush! Third Ticket: Prof. Riddle, he's the closest to Steve's age and their friends. Fourth Ticket: Prof. Ripley, I may not be a Penshire anymore, but she's still my mum! Fifth Ticket: Hilary Stevens, for asking such a tough question! Prof Lockhart said, "Weird Sisters? I would take any four people that could tell me who they are!" Prof. Riddle said, "For the Weird Sisters tickets, I'd take me of course, Prof. Haddington cuz I luv her, Prof. O'Connell cuz we're friends, Prof. Opal cuz I don't want Steve to be sad I have a date & he doesn't, & the 5th ticket would go to............probably Prof. Bliss cuz I think she needs rescuing from hanging around too much with Snape!" Prof. Opal said, "Only four? Well, I'd for sure take Professor O'Connell, because Professor Opal would like to spend some time with him. PAD, because she's our lovely Headmistress. Professor Lockhart, because I'd love to see him at a rock concert. And the last to Hilary, because this question was tough." Prof. Snape said, "Weird Sister tickets? You are assuming I would be interested in going." Well there you have it! Seems like that would be some concert!! Great question Hil! |

House:Ravenclaw Article:Hang In there Vampires! As many of you know, summer is the season with the most light. With the Summer Solstice on June 21st, the day is exponentially longer than then night. For many of you, this may mean an extra longer curfew, or more time to practice on your broom. But for a select number of student's a means more time locked up inside. That's right, for Vampires whom can only safely be out on the grounds or roaming the castle, in the peace of night; summer is a prison and winter true liberty. So to all those vampires out there, autumn is soon on its way, and after that the peace of a long winter night on the grounds. Hang in there, and stay out of the hot summer sun!(or at least wair some of my newly patented, Vamp Sun Screen, which will allow an hours worth of indirect sun light) ps. Note it can only be used once every 24 hours and also, if you either don't wair the recommended amount, go into direct sunlight, or stay in indirect sunlight longer than the recommended time, serious injury and even death can occur. p.s.s All orders should be sent to Augustus Dolohov, 4th year Ravenclaw, Price of 2 Galleons for a pint sized bottle. |
