End of Term
Julia Rose Antea

All of you probably know the outcome of points last term.  Hufflepuff; who started out at the top for the first few months, lost their lead in mid-December.  Unfortunately, they couldn't regain the lead in time for the End of Term.  As the EOT Speech was being prepared, the House of Hufflepuff was waiting to see if they could have possibly pushed forward to fourth place.  Sadly, their 82,843 points couldn't beat Slytherin's 116,165 points.  One year ago they finished in first place, but then to drop so drastically is weird.  When asking a Hufflepuff student, why they suddenly weren't earning massive amounts of points, the student replied with, "Hufflepuff isn't in any way, shape, or form, a point-hungry house.  We're all about having fun; winning isn't everything."
Hufflepuff Happenings!
By Darby Queally

A lot of things are currently going on in the great house of Hufflepuff.  We currently are beginning our term post goal of 100,000 posts! We are all ready off to a great start and the goal looks just in our reach! We have also just started our Welcome Committee for new students. So, new Huffies look forward to some great help with getting adjusted!
Also, a congratulations goes out to EmmaMay Isaak our new Quidditch captain!

Hufflepuff Goals
John Chang and Julia Rose Antea

We have several goals here in the brilliant and very capable house of Hufflepuff.  One of them is that we are making a severe effort to perform the five monthly challenges every month.  A PM reminding each student to do so has been sent out and hopefully it'll make a difference.  Also, by the time classes begin, we wish to have at least ten thousand posts in the HCR.  We're definitely doing well at achieving that goal.  We already halfway there and there are still nine weeks left to reach our goal.  Our last but not least goal is a certain amount of posts by the end of term.  Revealing this might not be the best idea, soI'll let the curiosity eat you up inside!
A Large Swarm of New Members
By Luna Lovegood

Since the start of June, Ravenclaw has had a huge swarm of new members entering the house. We have had EIGHT new members already this month, and one who joined the day before June ended. Ravenclaw welcomes Reva, Fabian, Elina, Ladius, Kevin, Amber, Aaron, and ana8sofia to Hogwarts with a warm open heart. Now, if you don't think that that is a lot, I think that I can say that that is probably the largest group in Ravenclaw history to join in a single month. And the month is still not over! The next closest amount was six members in April of this year. That's two new members more! It surely is a lot.

New Ravenclaws!
By Eylon Nimbus

This month Ravenclaw has been seeing a lot of new faces! Say hello to Fabian Moon, Reva Boudelaire, Ladius Potter, and soon to come Sophi Wand. We hope everyone will give them all a great welcome to the cleverest house! Also, let's say thank you to their mentors, who are helping them a lot. Go Ravens!
Ravenclaw Wins the House Cup!
By Eylon Nimbus

As everyone knows, the Ravens have won the cup for 2007-2008 with 174,576 points. Wow! Penshire just barely slipped to second place with 169,860 points. Next came Gryffindor, with 121,750 points. In fourth place this year is Slytherin, with 116,165. And last but not least comes Hufflepuff, with only 82,842 points (it's still A LOT!). Go on and get those points, houses!

Ravens Have But One Wish- To Go Back to the Future!

By Jolie Taylor

Before the board was cleaned out, Ravenclaws had a lot of pages of SPAM (actual amount withheld).  At one point, we started acting as if each page was a year in history, and that we were traveling in time.  Eventually, we were SPAMing so much, we were actually in the future.  So far so that Rose Weasley had already graduated from school in the canon series!  Now, as a new term starts, all Ravens have a goal of going back to the future!  Will this be possible?  Will we be stuck in ancient history forever?  I can't show you the results, but I tell you we all hope so!
Paddington Piece
By Yaxley Chambers

After about a month on the job, Paddington is fitting into Hogwarts like Cinderella in the glass slipper! We've made friends with each other and our Staff Members, friendships that have already formed the Polar Bear Family! Our Mentor Program, Adopt-a-Cub, is in full swing with our more experienced members assisting New-comers. Discussions about the Deathly Hallows Movie Split are intense in our HP discussion section. We've earned third place in the most hand-ins for Hogwarts Choice Awards, earning 600 points already and hopefully more on the way! RP's and games are common forums where you'll find our members conversing in and out of character. Finally, we've put together a full Quidditch Team led by Captains Joe Nworb and Damien Spikes and we're hosting a Quidditch Clinic in the house for new players and the team to get warmed up and secure for the 2008-2009 season!! Watch out Penshire, we're coming for the Cup!! A better month for Paddington, nobody could imagine, and we can only hope that things stay as good or better for months to come!!
Paddington Ghost Nonsense.
By Marie Envourte

Maybe we should turn this into an every month thing...
ANYWAYS.  Along with the new house, guess what? They get a ghost too!  Its pretty crazy actually, living down in the old bathroom with Myrtle for a while there, but then, wham. Paddingtons back! Just a few centuries, don't worry about it.

This month, a few crazy, awesome things happened, and some not so awesome.  Which should I start with maybe the bad news. Well, this has to be some kind of dumb record, but two people left within two days. Yup. We all said our somewhat, tearful good bye's to Evelyn Feuture, and Joanna. Evelyn still is tying up a few loose ends, but we sure will miss her! Next, Brady's Birthday passed on the third, and Mort's Birthday passed by on the Twelfth of June ! And some birthdays coming up are Dawlish's and Celeste's on the 13th. ( I know ! Two in one !) Lana's on the 14th, and Summers on the 15th! definitely the month to celebrate! Also, on Monday, June 23, Summers graduation passed! Lets all give her a big clap shall we? *Clap Clap*  So lets get this summer month on a roll!
Paddington House Welcomes Newbies
By Jenii Chang

Since Paddington opened it's doors last month, many new students have already joined us up in the Astronomy Tower.  Our first additons to the Paddington family were Lana Laramie and Soma Cruz!  They joined on May 31 and are both a blast to have around the house!  Next, Mort Johnson introduced himself on June 6th.  He jumped right into the Paddington fun and has already learned how to bribe Prof. Tommy with cookies.  The next student to be sorted into Paddington was Jaslyn Buadair.  She has taken on the name Jazzy, among other nicknames, and joined our house June 10th.  Carrie Berry introduced herself on June 14th!  She is currently recovering from surgery and all of us in Paddington wish her a speedy recovery!  Our most recent new students is Zoey Chang, who joined our house on June 19th!  Although our newest cubby hasn't been in the common room long, she's already jumping in and meeting her fellow students.  Welcome to all new students!  Finally, Paddington would also welcome our house ghost, Marie Envourte!  We hope she continues haunting us!

Student of the Month

The Paddington HOH team recognizes Katlin Sawyer as the first official student of the month for June!  Katlin has shown a great example of what it means to have Paddington Pride!  She's the editor of The Alohomora! (house mag), she's donated 2 shops for our co-ops, she's a member of The Lunar Lights (house club), & a member of the Welcoming & Birthday Committee.  She's always cheery when she's posting, calls other members by fun nicknames she makes up, & she even donated a cute polar bear image for other members to use in their siggies if they want to.  And if that's not enough, she keeps us in stitches with her swooning over the HOH!   Paddington wouldn't be the same without Katlin's enthusiastic spirit and "can do" attitude!  Look for more info about Katlin in 'The Alohomora!, coming out in July!  Congratulations Katlin!  Were proud of you!
Gryffindor Clean-out!
By Trystiana Radek

So, with a new year upon us, the Gryffindor Common Room (Like all the others) was in for a major overhaul. There was some serious cleaning done. It was quite beautiful, really. And now were back with a clean slate. Some sections, such as the Quidditch, House Club, and Discussion sections, are still trying to fill themselves up. Others, such as Games and Chit-Chat, are well on their way to being full-to-bursting! I cant wait to see what happens this year! Go Gryffindor!!!

The Battle of the Spammers!

By a Gryffindor

Recently, an all out war raged between Gryffindors Lynn and Mya over who the real spam queen is. Cissa created said contest in the Chit-Chat section. She created a topic and whoever posted the most would win. They each had until Friday the 20th at Midnight in each of their time zones. Lynn had a small advantage because she doesn't have flood control being a prefect assistant. However, Maybe seemed to be posting non-stop, so it evened out. In the end, the winner was Lynn with a 241 post lead. Each did a fantastic job, and helped really increase the post count. With any luck, it will help Gryffindor rise to the top and be the top posters for next term.
Gryffindor Honor Students
By Lynn Jennings

Along with the House Cup and Quidditch Cup, there were many awards given out to the honor students of each house. Gryffindor had the honor of having nine honor students, which is the most any house had. And they say us Gryffindors have no brains. The honor students were Alexis Moonchild, Fiona Chauvet, Kristin Johnson, Gawyn Crossguard, Hilary Stevens, Audrea Martin, Lily Duncan, Dan Pizarski, and Narcissa Rae Crystal. Congratulations to all of you!

New Dorms!

By Lynn Jennings

Along with the new term, there are many other new things. One of these things being new dorm rooms for Gryffindors. Everyone's being arranged and rearraged, thus everyone's meeting new people. The girls are placed randomly into either the Groovy Gryffs, Proud Phenoixes, Magic Misfits, Red Roars, and Cat's Meow. Personally, I'm in the Magic Misfits (which I find rather fitting) with Hermy, Cissa, and Megan. I'm really looking forward to it. For the boys, you can either be in The Scarlet Knights, King's Court, or Griffin's Dorm. With any hope, everyone will be happy in their new dorms, and all the Gryffindors will get along without killing each other...yet.
New Penshire Staff
By Keato Abbot

Its the beginning of a new term which means a new house staff. You probably read in PADs EoT speech who the prefects where but not the prefect assistants.

To start off Penshire is very happy to keep the head girl position in their house with former prefect Bryony Casten! Ava Black will be very much missed and Bry has some big shoes to fill. Now returning as Senior Prefect for yet another year is Samuel Craft. Getting nudged upward to prefect is last years PA (Prefect Assistant) Sapphire Lyze. And finally the last prefect, skipping the PA position and having not been at PADs for more then ten months is, Keato Abbot. Now as for the PAs, Penshire is happy to welcome back last years PA Amanda Dasaro! Also moving into the PA spot is fourth year Cauly Hauster! This year Penshire crowned three PAs so along with those two was a very strong and reliable, Evan Murdoch!

Congratulations all new staff members!!!!!

Penshires MVP for 2008 Term
By Ava Black

It is no surprise that Penshire has tried to win the cup two years in a row. We have come close twice and possibly three times will be the charm. There is a certain student each term that really puts their whole heart into the spirit of winning. This year is was Bryony Casten. She did many lessons, wrote her heart out and encouraged others to do it as well. If there were more students like her, we probably would have had 500,000 points. Her spirit is still contagious in the common room and might possibly boost Penshire to the victory in the coming term. I would like to personally thank her for all the hard work! It didnt go unnoticed!

Penshire of the Month

By The Penshire Staff

Congratulations Emmaline Bagman, Julys Penshire of the Month.  Emma has been a member here for only a short time, yet in that span shes jumped right into the swing of things and proven herself to be a true Penshire.  Not afraid to start a conversation of her own and joining in existing discussions, Emma has made friends quickly and a bit of her sparkling spirit has rubbed off on every surface (and every person) in the PCR.  Congratulations Emmawere absolutely ecstatic you were sorted into Penshire and are totally excited for all the fun to come.
Penshire Prattle
By Billy Raven

We haven't seen anyone new students since the clean-out but we are ready. The Adopt-a-Crane is back up as is 'What in Merlin's Name is a Penshire' thread. With the clean-out way over, all the rules were re-posted and everyone had to sign them again, which was a good think because it made you review them as well. Course we aren't known for causing too much trouble. LOL the games have picked up and so have the RPGs. Course Keato has started a new one, we can also count on him for something new and different! We have seen the return of a few who were missing for a time due to computer problems or Muggle life, like Rose Granger and Faith! We are working on some fun summer things, in house, and of course are lining up for the Summer Club and the summer classes like Herbology and Potions and anything else they offer up!

Penshire Prattle: A Fresh Start

By Bryony Casten

The common room has been cleaned out and the hourglasses will be reset (sooner rather than later, I hope.  I still wince every time I check and see the huge blue Ravenclaw wins the house cup banner there.  Ouch).  Weve started a plethora of new topics and brought back many of the old ones, have a June posting-war planned, and are getting right back into the swing of things.  While we havent seen many new members lately those whove been here are certainly stepping up to the plate and brining Penshire to life once again.  Heres to the start of an awesome new term!

Moving Up, Staying, and New!

By Billy Raven

As all the houses had some staff changes, we in Penshire cetrainly are a proud group! The previous Head Girl, Ava Black, was a crane and now the new one is a crane, Bryony Casten! It doesnt' get any better then that!
Samuel Craft continues as Senior Prefect and it suits him! Sapphire moved up into the Prefect spot Bry let open and also the K-man Keato also became Prefect! That's a might active strong group! Though Sapphire was an Assistant Prefect last term this is all new for Keato, but we know he is up for the job!
Then we saw two other students given opportunities, Evan Murdoch and Cauly Hauster! Man I am thrilled for both as I have RPed with them and Cauly is one of my closest friends. Do you think that means I can get away with things? I wouldn't even think about it!
Snakes' Birthdays
By Riley Jake

After looking through the calendar in the Slytherin Common Room, I found that there were a number of birthdays celebrated that I was previously unaware about. Franklynn Dandarac celebrated a birthday on the twenty-third of May, Rayne Hallowell celebrated a birthday on June fourteenth, and Saya Erikson did as well on the seventeenth of June. And, at the very beginning of July, you have Gabriella Murphy, turning a year older on the fifth of July. Happy birthday you four, and I hope that the day was very special (or will be ;))

New Slytherin Staff
By Beonca Aims

If you havent heard, all houses got new staff members often join those who wished to remain and applied to do so. In our house, we lost Jenii Chang as Senior Prefect, but gained a new one, Jess DarkWing, who has already showed she is up for the job! Jess is like the big sister, both wise and funny. Eltanin moved up to Prefect even before end of term due to a loss of a couple Prefects and he is well suited for the job. Hes like the older brother, but doesnt pick on you! Hes intelligent and a thinking mans thinker, he likes some of the more thinking games. Then comes me, lol, I applied for Prefect, again. Dont get me wrong, I did it because I love this house and we needed someone in this position who knows stuff, even if it is where the skeletons are buried. So, let me see, I have been a Prefect, Head Girl, Assistant Prefect, and now a Prefect again. I loved each position and have a feeling this term I will be working harder then before! But enough about me, lol!

Our two new staff members are Oriana Bloom and Riley Jake! They are our Assistant Prefects and frankly both can easily be Prefects with their experience, knowledge and activity. They are a great addition to staff! This is on top of a great Head of House and Assistant Head of House! We are going to so rock the glass this term!
Slytherin Scoop
By Beonca Aims

With the clean-out completed, the snakes began to put back up the things that were not requested to have returned, but all rules, most games, and other things. Many of the staff divided up the areas and were in charge of saving those important items and also volunteered to save things by request. Professor Snape did many of the rules and character bios while Professor Kelina save many requested items and other things. The clean-out was seamless and the return fun to watch as things would reappear daily. A hardy thanks to the staff for all the preparation. This past week we saw one new member, Forge, a friend of Gred Weasley and one who seems to fit quite well in the house!

Life!
By Riley Jake

Yes, you heard me correctly. The SCR has recently burst into LIFE! This month has seen the return of Rayne Hallowell, Niquie Malfoy, and Sapphire Blaire has been showing up recently as well. Not only that, we've also welcomed a newbie into our midst, one Forge, who, ironically, is a good friend of Gred. One can only hope that this wondiferious trend continues, and the SCR continues to be active.

New House Staff!
By Mildmannered Slytherin

On June seventh, the '07-'08 term had officially ended, and the '08-'09 term had finally begun. The new term saw the arrival of two new staff members, Riley Jake and Oriana Bloom, who are the new Prefect Assistants, and Beonca Aims once again holds the title of Prefect, and Jess Dark Wing is the Senior Prefect and Eltanin Wemyss is once again a prefect. With the coming of the new term, we say goodbye to Jenii Chang, a beloved Slytherin and former Senior Prefect, and wish her the best of luck in Paddington.
ThreatsPimp
By Riley Jake

While other houses at Hogwarts have house ghosts - Hufflepuff has Captain Morrigan, Gryffindor has Nearly Headless Nick, Ravenclaw has Sir Hugo Tien, and Penshire has Moaning Myrtle. While Slytherin had the Bloody Baron, the ghost hasn't been seen around the SCR for a long time. Instead, they have had a new visitor - ThreatsPimp, a baby giant squid that's Professor Bliss's pet. Having a house ghost is great, but having a house squid is better. Not only does he have a great aim, he enjoys Quidditch as well! *innocent*
