Are You Like Your Character, Part 2!
By Summer Raine

Ok, last month I wrote an article with only that a fraction of the student responses to the question are you like your character? And here are some more answers:

This is what Rose Wick wrote: "PADs wasn't my first RP site (it was a place called vHogwarts, back in the time that I had no idea what god-moding was *shudders in embarrassment*), but it was one the of the first ones with humans instead of animals... so, yes, I made Rose quite a lot like me.

We both have brown-blond hair, though hers is slightly more mouse-colored, both love to read and write, play Quidditch (who hasn't tried?), and simply sit and stare, preferably at some sort of nature, like the stars, a meteor shower, a lake, sunset, sunrise, et cetera. In fact, for the most part of appearance, we are identical, except where she is a little under average height, I'm normal to slightly above, and I don't need my glasses nearly as much as she does - oh, and I have gray eyes that have personality problems; sometimes they're hazel.

In personality, well, it depends. A lot of people at my school would say I'm frightfully shy, and rarely talk to anyone, like Rose, but around my good friends - 'the lunch crowd' - I am outgoing, imaginative, musical/Broadway/acting/singing-lover, talkative, sarcastic/cynical, and altogether crazy; that's how I imagined Rose would have been if certain events hadn't happened in her childhood.

Just a note, but personally, I don't think that making a character like you isn't such a big deal. You always read on other RP sites to 'make your character original' and 'don't make them like you - it takes more skill to write one that isn't', but personally, I don't see how that is. If you say everyone's different, and no one's the same, than it sort of is making your character original if you base it off yourself... right?"

After Rose is Hilary Stevens! This is what she said: PAD's was my first RPG site. Ever. I was actually looking for 'Harry Potter games' to play on the computer in class (free period!) when I found this little index thingy, and PAD's was on that. So yeah.

But Hil was pre-made. I had this huge extra-HP-character story thingy in my head. And it was Hilary Stevens. So I guess I did put myself into her. I honestly didn't expect to be in Gryffindor though. I spent the night I put in the sorting quiz going 'I don't want to be a Hufflepuff, I'm not touching that Penshire place, and Slytherin wouldn't be ideal. I bet you I'm in Slytherin though. But it won't be Gryffindor. I bet you it won't be Gryffindor'. XD

When I started out though, Hil was incredibly like me. Loved reading, quite withdrawn to strangers, but bouncy with her friends, hated breaking rules, and was really hardworking. But then, I guess she got a little wilder, and now she's only a bit like me. It's almost like; Hil is a part of me no one ever sees. Like, I'm so not that brave. But I can get really hyper with my friends, but I don't talk to everyone like Hil does. But Hil's got my art skills for sure. XD

As for appearance, when I joined, she was just like me. Short brown hair and brown eyes. Then I totally changed my mind and made her have long brown hair. And maroon eyes, but that was before I messed with her history. Then she went red-head. But I did that for a Quidditch game and kept it. And when I couldn't find any Hil-ish red haired people, I went back to being brown. And then she changed for being vamp to elf, so I gave her blue eyes. But she's tall. I'm tall. XD and Hil's pretty athletic, and I run cross-country, so that about says it all."

Since SOME PEOPLE*glares at fellow Gryffies*(don't worry I'm not mad...or am I? duh duh duh!) post a lot about their character & themselves you will have to wait for another article next month on are you like your character. See you then!
Three Cheers for EoT!

End of Term is just around the corner!  Everyone is excited to start fresh and begin the new term.  Newbies are especially excited for the new term, because theyll get to sign up for classes and become even more a part of their house.  End of Term Cleanout is going to be a ball!
Summer Vacation Time
By Ava Black

It is that time at Hogwarts!  People will be headed home to visit with family and friends.  Though some will stay and enjoy the Summer classes offered.  Trains will board on June 15 and run until the 18th.  Be sure to make adequate travel plans!  Grades will be sent out via owls in mid July!  Have a fun summer!
The Box Ritual?
By Luna Lovegood

For quite a few months now, Ravens in the spam topic, have been putting people in boxes and shipping them off to some of the most random places in the world. It all started with my first 'Odd Quote of the Day' (OQD, for short). The quote was "be quiet or we'll pack you in a box and ship you back to Turkey," or something along the lines of that. The first victim...I mean, student, we had was Arya. She was really the only one for the longest time. Recently, though, we decided to send one of our lovely prefects on a vacation. To Antartica. It started with getting the box and stamps. It got harder after that. How were we to get Summer into the box? Anna chose to offer up chocolate. Summer tried to be protected by Ariene. Lets just put it this way -- Arya got mad about having to share her box. Where is the next mysterious vacation going to be to, you think?
The Evolution of Games
By Bry Casten

Every common room games forum is filled with internet games such as Associated Words, This or That? and I Confess.  The rules of each game is simply stated in the first post, and the fun ensuesstudents (and sometimes professors) join in the game and post according to the rules.

But slowly, over time, the games begin to evolve.  Sure, they were meant to start out a certain way, to be played under certain rules, but very much like Jurassic Park, games will take the upper hand themselves morph into something much more than its creator intended.

Take, for example, the Merging  Names game.  For the first eight or nine pages the posters used the game as it was expected, taking two names, such as Samuel and Keato, and adding them together to form a silly name, in this case Samuto would be one product.  As time wore on, however, the game evolved, gradually forming equations that looked more interestingfor example, as posted by Sapphie, Penshire + Quidditch Cup + House Cup = Totally going to happen!  With this post the thread morphed into something completely different, complete with Billy equating that I would win Survivor and me adding one of my own about surfing hippos (this would take far too long to explain in just one OG article).

And so it stands that Games are funny things.  We may have ideas for them initially, but no matter what we first expected they will always take a turn whether we like it or not.

But we usually like it.
Matchmaker, Matchmaker!
By Pepper

Matchmaker, matchmaker make me a match!  Find me a find!  Catch me a catch!  Well, boy do I have a catch for you!  The matchmaker thread on the BB has been closed by Admin.  This is only one of three games that has been closed and announced as no longer acceptable in the BB Games forum.  Hopefully Hogwarts wont go loveless for long!
Duck, Duck, Gone.
By Pumpkin

Duck duck duck GONE!  Say goodbye to Duck, Duck, Goose, because it is officially closed, shut-down, and unavailable.  Thankfully the CRs will still get to keep the game, but unfortunately the Bulletin Board isnt that lucky.  Some students are wondering what theyll do without the quirky game, but Im sure theyll find some loophole!
Penshires Words to Live By
By Billy Raven

Walking through the common room I heard a discussion of words to live by and decided to join the conversation. At first they seemed pretty reasonable like ones you would find in fortune cookies, but they soon changed. These are just some of the more funnier or true to real life ones! I hope you enjoy, we had fun sharing them.

* DON'T WORRY ABOUT THE PEOPLE IN YOUR PAST THERES A REASON THEY DIDN'T MAKE IT TO YOUR FUTURE
* When life gives you lemons--squeeze them in people's eyes and RUN AWAY!!!!!!!!!
* Out there someone's gonna love you; warts and all!
* Pluto is SO a planet!
* Never go to a doctor whose office plants died
* Never say "oops", always say "Ah, interesting."
* Boys are like lava lamps...fun to watch but not too bright
* Life is like a rainbow; you can't have a rainbow without any rain!
* [Be who you are & say what you feel because those who mind don't matter and those who matter don't mind.] anonymous
* Well-behaved women rarely make history.
* When staying over a friend's house, or in a motel/hotel, Bed & Breakfast, or cabin or tent site...............after packing up, take time to do one more walk-through to make sure you have everything! Lost & found is full of shoes, pillows, cell phones, CDs, DVDs, toys, stuffed animals, and jewelry to name a few items. So, take the time to make one more pass so you don't leave anything precious behind.
* Some days you are the bug, some days you are the windshield
* Remember, when someone annoys you, it takes 42 muscles in your face to frown. BUT, it only takes 4 muscles to extend your arm and SMACK the loser upside the head.
* Never walk in a crowd with the laces of your shoes untied.
* When running, if you get a cramp, pinch your wrist very, very hard, and the cramp goes away! You trick your body! ...But then your wrist is gonna hurt.
* Two wrongs don't make a right, but three lefts do!
* Rabbits poop..............A LOT!
* Always remember you're unique. Just like everyone else.
* You have one mouth and two ears, this means that you should listen twice as often as you speak.
* Everybody lies, but it doesn't matter since nobody listens.
* Sign your lessons with name and house, or you will be going back and forth with the professor in order to get the points you earned.
* The statistics on sanity are that one out of every four people is suffering from some sort of mental illness. Think of your three best friends -- if they're okay, then it's you.
* If you're like me, your problem isn't that people call you names; your problem is that if you punch them, you'll get in trouble... most of the time...
Summer at Hogwarts!
By Lotus Root

Summer is finally close by!  As many of you may know, the summer brings many activities to Hogwarts.  Summer Club is one of the most popular ways to have fun during the summer.  Student Council is always in charge of creating the Summer Club and deciding which activities they are going to use in it.  Summer Club is a great way to earn points for your house during the summer and a ton of fun to participate in!
Hogwarts Yearbook Club: Quotes Needed!
By Bryony Casten

No it isn't a epitaph, it's going to be placed next to your picture in the yearbook!  Quote Ariene Callahan in her call for last words from three of the six Hogwarts houses.  The Yearbook Club is working to finish their product, and theyre giving every student a quote to go next to their picture!  The call for Hufflepuff, Ravenclaw, and Gryffindor quotes has been announceddue date June 2nd.  Penshire, Slytherin, and perhaps even Paddington requests will be announced at a later date.  So all students (and staff too!) start thinking of the best words to be beside your face in the yearbook and get them turned into the club!
Can Paddington Do It?
By Good Luck To Ya

Weve been seeing the Paddington members around the Bulletin Boardand hearing their opinions as well.  All members are excited to start the new term and enter the House Cup race as well they should be.  Theyre excited to form a quidditch team and play against the other houses as well they should be.

But will they be successful?  As a student from one non-cannon house to another, I wish you the best of luck and would like to give you a few words of warning.  If you have the lowest points of the whole school and are behind by a ridiculously large margindont be discouraged.  If you lose every single quidditch game by a landslide dont be discouraged.  If your common room is a complete mess and you have no idea whats going on half the time dont be discouraged.

Starting a new house is not an easy feat.  Penshire students who were here when it began know quite well just how hard it is to keep up with the other houses when they have double your member number.  They know just how hard it is to try to play quidditch with only five active people in the house.  They know just how hard it is to try to work on a hundred things at once, all of which are the most important.

So the question is: Can Paddington do it?  Can they defy the odds and be a stiff competitor next year?  I for one wish you all the best of luck and look forward to seeing how the new term progresses.
Looking Ahead to Summer Term!
By A Penshire Contributor

There is nothing I look forward to more this time of year than summer term!  Nows the time when I actually want classes to be over and to start freshthe CRs are cleaned out, the points are reset to zero, and everyone gets a brand new start, all houses on even footing once again.  The last few weeks before end of term always seem to drag by, and I want nothing more than to think ahead to the joys of summer still to come.

Besides all the glorious aspects of starting anew as described in the last paragraph, summer term brings with it a few other things that we dont see during the normal year as well.  The Summer Club, usually run by Professor Delia and the Student Council, will open sometime during the first few weeks, as will (hopefully) a few short RPG classes and puzzles to work on.  Summer is the time to focus on RPGs and getting things back in order againso once the frantic point-earning of this term ends, sit back, relax and look forward to the fun to come!
Anonymous Members Rampant on the BB
By An Anonymous Writer

In the past few weeks the Bulletin Board has seen a sudden increase in anonymous members.  So much so that it caught my attention as being out of the ordinary.  Why, all of a sudden, does the BB have four or five anonymous members on at one time, multiple times during the day?  I suspect that members are engaging in private and perhaps illicit activities stalling in certain forums in which loitering is strictly forbidden.  Spying on RPG threads that are closed or secretive in nature.  Whatever the reason, it will be interesting to see if the trend keeps up or if it disappears by the end of term.
