A Point-a-thon for February!
By: Myrrima Goldenleaf

With the ending of our last point-a-thon, many Ravens enthusiastically awaited another one. Yet, a month passed and no point-a-thon emerged. This may be partially because Gwen Tatham, who so graciously put the last one together, was still busy making awards for all of the ravens who participated. So finally Luna Lovegood put together another one for all of us! I won't tell you any more about it, that's a secret! lol, but I do know that it will be fun and hopefully another exciting outlet for all of our Ravens. Fly High, Breathe Deep!
Ravenclaw Activeness
By: Myrrima Goldenleaf

WOW! I mean, wow! Really, that is all I can say when I look at the wonderful group of Ravens now inhabiting Ravenclaw house. Last year I wasn't sure that we would be able to survive very well as a house since there were so few people actively participating in anything. But it is about time that I commend the people who have come to Ravenclaw. They have been extremely active, happy people who, somehow, manage to infect everyone else with their enthusiasm and they have brought the house back to life in an amazing way. So here's to you my dear Ravens! For keeping the house alive, for coming when I wasn't sure that we would ever have an active house again, and for continuing to be just as spirited and active as you were when you first came here. Huzzah!
New Ravenclaws
By Ariene Callahan

Once again, when the winter months seemed bleak and unending, Ravenclaw has reason to shimmer with joy and life. We have welcomed a sea of new students and would like the rest of the school to welcome them as well. Please give a warm and magical welcome to the following newest members of Ravenclaw: Elizah Smith (Penshire Transfer), Dylan Addams, Prof. Lily Fairydust (Returning), Sam Charles, Edogawa Conan, Zubayr Conan, Ryan Ravenclaw, Penny Hung, and Ashleigh Owens.

As many as we've said hello to, we have also had to say good-bye to several members. We wish them the best, and were sad to see them go: Xenophilius Lovegood and Birdie.
Welcome Back Prof. Lily Fairydust!
By Ariene Callahan

Ravenclaw has recently welcomed back one of it's most beloved members! Prof. Lily Fairydust has returned as temporary Head of Ravenclaw. The house is thrilled beyond words to have her back smile.gif She was greeted with many excited 'hello's" and a parade of hugs and smiles. Currently Taylor Wallace, who graduated last year, and is the current Ravenclaw HOH is unable to be around, due to muggle life and responsibilities. We miss you Professor Wallace, and will be waiting for your return to us!
Penshire Prattle
By Ava Black

Penshire had another great month!  We welcomed three new students: Hawk-eye Granger, Erika Klause and Dorinda Emerald.  We also welcomed back longtime student Kayla Black.  We were pleased with our newest staff addition, Assistant Head of House Professor Charles Simbi!  I am sure he will have a great time getting to know everyone in Penshire.  We have many plans on the books for next month.  We will be hosting a dance, having a point-war and of course another post-war.  Penshire has had a really great year and I can only foresee great things for its future!
Cranes versus Snakes
By Ava Black

Penshire took to the Quidditch Pitch again this month.  It was Slytherin versus Penshire.  This game was a bit more challenging for both teams as the roster had to change several times.  It was looking pretty hairy there for Penshire until Sapphire Lyze managed to catch the snitch.  Penshire managed to hold onto their undefeated title one more time!  It will be interesting to see if they can keep that cup again this year!  So far it is looking good!
Penshire Challenge!
By Ava Black

The wonderful house of Penshire has issued a point-war challenge to the Noble house of Gryffindor.  The basics are for each student in the house to get as many points as possible from March 1-31st.  The house with the most will win.  I personally love challenges like this because it always helps me to be motivated to do my best!  I know both houses will kick it in overtime to be in the first place spot!!! Good luck both houses and may the hardest working win!
Penshires Valentine Exchange
By Ava Black

For Valentines Day this year, Amanda Dasaro set up a flower exchange.  It was a great opportunity for students (and staff) to tell each other how much they care!  All we had to do is place our orders with Amanda and she delieverd them via private message.  What a great surprise it was to have such an overflowing pm box!!  Thanks Amanda for all the work you put into this, it was a great success!
Penshires Posting War
By Ava Black

Penshire had a posting war on February 11 18th.  This time we were broken into teams of two and had to post like crazy in the common room.  The winner of this months contest was Faith Puppy and Alex Park.  The team had over 2700 post!!  A close second was Ava Black and Riley West with over 2500.  Great job to the winners!!!
Penshire of the Month
By: Amanda Dasaro
This month's Penshire character is none other than Keato Abbot. Believe it or not, he started the poll this month to pick our character and he won! So, he asked me to write this article about him. Keato joined Penshire this year and he has been a wonderful addition. He even joined after me and has about 8,000 posts in our CR.

Keato is also involved in a lot of things here at Hogwarts. Not only does he write this article every month, he runs the entire Penshire Spirit Club, called the PCSC. He participates in many RPG's in our house, the most recent one called "Sledding." He would also like me to notify you that his favorite foods are muffins and grapes. (He talks about them frequently in the house.) Not only that, he's one of our chaser's on the quidditch team, and a fine one at that! So, that's why Keato Abbot has been chosen as the Penshire of the month.
Random Evil Twins
by: a concerned Hufflepuff

Yes, you read the title correctly. Hufflepuff has it's very own set of evil twins that aim to fight good and evil at the very same time. December Ravencroft Lovegood, mild-mannered owlery assistant, first year Hufflepuff student, and EmmaMay Isaak, Prefect and third year Hufflepuff have become random evil twins. Why? I'm not sure. They have a to-do list a mile long, which includes putting out an issue of the Transfiguration Today as well as fighting people who aim to take away internet connections and hold them for ransom. One can only hope that in their tirades that they don't destroy the Hufflepuff Common Room.
Hufflepuff Staff Changes
by: December R. Lovegood

Before I was actually in the Hufflepuff Common Room, I received news of the staff changes, and knew that the prefects that were listed for Hufflepuff were about to change.

As many now know, Maya Parker is now the Senior Prefect, Zoey Taylor is Prefect, and EmmaMay Isaak is a Hufflepuff prefect as well - and, for Prefect Assistants, we have Elizabeth Crow and Natalie Corvin.

Now, I haven't been in Hufflepuff for all that long, but I've gotten the chance to speak with every one of the staff members during the short time that I've been here. All of them are outstanding individuals, who really deserve the chance to be members of the staff.
Gryffindor Going For Gold
By Hilary Stevens

Whatever you might say about Gryffindor, whether it's that they never win anything, are worthless at getting points or that they are simply Gryffindorks, you've got to admit, we don't half try. Now, this happens to be proved by a little thing called Quidditch. Just look at the season so far. I mean, trying not to tempt fate or anything, but you must admit that we have played brilliantly. Which gives us all the more of a reason to keep trying. The Common Room has been in high spirits, after successfully winning both games against Slytherin and Ravenclaw. Guys, you played great, but you can't stop us when we want to win that badly, can you? So anyway, we're currently raring to go for our match against Hufflepuff in February, and then it's Penshire. So move over guys, you're looking at the new Quidditch cup winners.
*Gryffindor Newbie Update*
By: Cissa Daniels

Newbies. We aren't just talking about any newbies were talking about Gryffindor's Newbies! There have been many new Gryffies coming in ,but are they all staying active? Helping out in the house?.

A bunch of new students have been joining us in  Gryffindor a few are Ayesha Sofea, Lainey Vaux, Michelle Athena, Mya Moe and some others. The thing is some don't stay active for too long. *__*

Look at this list longer eh? Ella Urie, Michelle Anthena, Talhha, voldemort6732, Morgan_LeFay, Mya Moe. What and why are our Newbies disappearing off the face of the Earth? we ask ourselves. Every single time one comes after a bit of being active they go bezork. How sad.

The bad thing is it's not only Newbies who are doing this some of the older students are also disappearing. Who knows were they are headed for and when they will return?

Catch us next month when we'll be telling you more about them and how they're coming along.
Gryffindors Give Back!
By Lynn Jennings

As mentioned in another article, Gryffindors have a lot of new clubs on the rise (one started by yours truly). However, as these clubs were only mentioned generally, there wasn't enough room to go over one in detail. The newest club, the Leos Club, was started by Shannon Wood, is to help out people all over Gryffindor, and possible the entire school!

Based on the Lions Club in the Muggle world, the Leos club plans on doing many things. They include helping new students get around, helping out old students with their problems, and even helping staff members with some of the tasks they need to do.

Being a new club, we are unsure of where exactly it's going to go. However, we promise to keep you updated on our latest accomplishments. After all, as reporter for the Leos Club, it's my duty!
First In-House Match
By Fiona Chauvet

Gryffindor was lucky to kick off its first ever in-house Quidditch match, and it was a ton of fun! Mostly because I was able to play, but that's beside the point. Roxanne Whitez and Adam Crawford Jr. both did a crazy super awesome job at refereeing the game. As for the teams, there were two teams of six players. The first team was Fred's Insomniacs which was captained by Audrea Martin, who was a Chaser. The other two chasers were Alex and Karine Frontenac, Beater was Rose Weasly, the Seeker was Jason Potter (also co-captain) and the Keeper was Lily Duncan. The second team was Sly's Lions, captained by Hilary Stevens who was also the Keeper. The chasers were Wedge, Death (co-captain) and Narcissa Rae-Crystal. The Seeker was Rose Wick and the Beater was me, Fiona Chauvet. Both teams played brilliantly, but Sly's Lions came out the victors! The game was a ton of fun and I look forward to our next in-house match.
Tons of Clubs
By Fiona Chauvet

The Gryffindor Common Room has seen a rapid influx of house clubs in the past few weeks. Not that it's a bad thing. On the contrary, it's very good! They were the brain children of Cissa Daniels, a new addition to the GCR, Lynn Jennings and Shannon Wood. Three of the new clubs are designed to get lions more involved in some aspects of the school, like making books, shops and writing for the gazette. So far there has been a lot of interest in them, and they're continuing to do well. As for Shannon's club, she's created a group that helps out the house in various ways and helps to keep it clean. It's just starting out, but there are already some members. For now the club section is a busy place and I'll keep you updated on how these new clubs continue to grow and flourish in the common room.
March Birthdays
By Fiona Chauvet

Birthdays are a lot of fun to celebrate and Gryffindor would like to wish everyone who has a March birthday, a very happy one! We have a few students celebrating their's in March, but they're all big ones! The first birthday belongs to Hermy_own who will be turning 12 on 7th! Next is Narcissa Rae Crystal who will be 14th on the 12th, Hattie Gryff will be 24 on the 22nd, and our own Prefect's Assistant, Hilary Stevens will be turning 14 as well! Early birthday wishes to all four of you! I hope you have a happy one!
The Welcome Wagon
By Fiona Chauvet

January and February have been two busy months in Gryffindor, as far as new students are concerned. In January alone we welcomed four new students and welcomed back an old student. Summer Raine, Cissa Daniels, Mya Moe and Lainey Vaux all entered Gryffindor and have been big contributors to the house. Gryffindor was also happy to welcome back Lynn Jennings who has been gone from the common room. But Lynn is back and with a vengeance! She's been super active and we hope to have her around forever! We were also happy to welcome Callista Newell, who has been in the house for some time, but just recently introduced herself. In February we were happy to welcome back Gladys and Madge Jhick. Gryffindor was also lucky to have Will Colins and Trystiana join the house. Welcome to Gryffindor, to you all!
Slytherin Scoop
By: Beonca Aims

Of course the snakes know how to celebrate Valentine's Day! By the time you read this, we will have had a great time at our dance/chat, Slytherin style of course and our mini-timed RPGs. We also have been busy with a few points earing and post gaining things, but if I told you what they were I would have to kill you. A coupld new games have popped up and a few older ones have gain new interest. As reported last time, the new dorm formations seem to be working and I personally just love my dorm mates. Right now we are hanging up posters and feasting on treats. The house does seem empty at times, but our spriit is strong and we know we will get through the slump with the help of our trusted members!
Slytherin House Pride
By: Riley Jake

Now, when many think of the Slytherin house in terms of the Harry Potter books, one thinks of a lot of horrible things, such as Voldemort, the Death Eaters, and Lucius Malfoy, and his son Draco. However, here on PADs, the situation is quite different. Everyone is very nice to each other, and everyone helps one another out when they need help.

Ever since I joined the about a month ago, I've made a ton of new friends, and the number of people I know has just kept growing. A lot of these people are Slytherins that I have met in the CR, and started hanging out with there. I even managed to get my cousin Cole to join as well, and he's in Slytherin as well. We really are a family here, and we all are working very well together, hoping to achieve our goal of the House Cup in June.

Personally, I'm very proud to be a Slytherin, and I'm sure that the rest of my housemates are as well.
Celebrating Valentines: Slytherin Style
By: Jenii Chang

As you all know, last month was February, and with February, comes Valentines Day! Valentines Day was quite a festive event in the Slytherin Common Room. The events started off with an exciting Secret Sweetheart gift exchange, where everyone was assigned someone else to shop for! There was also a Slytherin-Exclusive Sweetheart Valentines Dance! Everyone was ready to boogie and celebrate ALL NIGHT LONG! Lastly, an Avatar Contest went on to see who could make their avatar the most festive in honor of Valentines Day. A panel of Slytherin staff members were in-charge of judging the avatars and choosing the best ones in all different categories! Valentines Day was an fun, exciting time in the SCR and the activities never stopped coming!
New Kids on the Boards: Slytherins Form a Band
by: Eltanin Wemyss, Slytherin

The "PARTY!!!" thread is a familiar sight to those who frequent the Games forum on the Bulletin Board. Slytherin House enjoyed this so much that we began our own party in the common room. During the course of the thread, someone began playing an instrument, and enough people joined in to form a (rather unconventional) band. A joking comment by one of the members turned into the band name: the Social Deviants.

The band consists of six members playing five instruments. Rayne Hallowell and Viktor are the resident flautists, and also the start of the band; it was Rayne who urged the very beginnings of the band to start playing, thus paving the way. Riley Jake is the cellist, providing the backbone of the music. Jenii Chang, in addition to being Senior Prefect of Slytherin, plays the trumpet for the band. I (Eltanin Wemyss) provide back-up harmonies on the dulcimer, a quaint stringed instrument similar to a guitar or a mandolin, and also act as PR and graphics designer for the group. The lead singer is our very own Piper Bailey, also known as Princess.

The Social Deviants have already put out their premier CD, arbitrarily named Let It Be when I was designing the cover art. The debut album is a two-disc set consisting of thirty-two songs plus a bonus track. The CD has been very well-received in many circles. As it describes the house quite well--and is a lot of fun to boot--it has become somewhat popular. The Social Deviants look forward to the possibility of putting out a sophomore album in the very near future.
The Perfect Slytherin Boy's Valentines Day
By: Cole Sanderson

Valentines day. It's an interesting time, to say the least. For most, it means candy, flowers, and making goo-goo eyes with that "special someone." However, let's face it. There are a lot more fun ways to spend what is normally such a boring and sickening holiday.
Ladies, I'm going to be honest. Guys could care less about whether you cut your hair for the holiday or what store you got your shoes from. Not only that, but any Slytherin wants nothing to do with anything pink or flowery in the first place. Instead, a much better way to spend the day is to go out of your way to be original. All of your friends going to Madame Puddifoots? Go to the Shrieking Shack, or the next Weird Sisters concert. Friends wasting money on a once a year dress? Spend those hard earned galleons on the funkiest looking hat you can find. Those last forever. And, last but not least, nothing says "Happy Valentine's Day." Better than some good old fashioned pranks on little Hufflepuff children.
