| Top Five Turkey Activities
By Jennifer Kull (JUNK) 1. Hand Turkey. The most simple and most common turkey activity for a youngster is that of making a turkey by tracing the hand. Where the thumb is becomes the head of the turkey, and the rest of the digits become the feathers of the turkey's tail. Not only is this a fun activity for the youngin's, but it keeps them preoccupied while the grownups take care of the important things. 2. Turkey Coloring Pages. All children like to color. I don't care who they are, all children like to color, unless they are taught otherwise, like a little boy might be taught that coloring is for girls (this is not true, by the way). This is why keeping a couple of simple outlines and designs of turkeys handy is very convenient. 3. Actual Crafts. Turkeys can be made out of practically everything. Pine cones and maple leaves, oak leaves and acorns, or any other different types of materials. If you are up to the challenge of allowing the youngin' to use glue and other such dangerous craft tools, I do suggest this one. It is more involved and can be fun for both the child and the adult. 4. Place Settings. Table place settings can be a simple folded card that sits on a plate to mark a person's seat. These are usually fun for a child to decorate, and they always enjoy glitter, glue, and generally anything messy and hands on. I suggest marking the name of the person in permanent marker first, so that it does not disappear under whatever decorations are added. 5. The Thankful Turkey. This turkey is simply an outline of a turkey with edible feathers onto the end. Each feather represents something you are thankful for, so this activity is wonderful for getting children to think about what they have and not taking it for granted at a very young age. |

Then the completed Mad Lib is posted. 1. Room. 2. Food (plural) 3. Favorite TV show 4. verb ending with -ing 5. adjective 6. male friend 7. number larger than one 8. teacher 9. adjective 10. number larger than one 11. singular noun 12. animal 13. past tense verb 14. adverb 15. exclamation 16. famous person The Mad Lib put together.... THE STORY: Last night, as I sat in the Slytherin Common Room eating apple pies and watching Heroes, the telephone rang. When I picked it up, I heard a(n) jumping sound. It was my comfortable friend Tom. He told me that he couldn't solve the 13 (thirteen) problems that Professor Snape had assigned for homework. I'm pretty pretty in math, so it took me only 4561 minutes to figure out the answers. "These problems are easy!" I told him. "Use your snake." "It's broken!" he said. "I think my cat was over it." "Then you'll just have to use your fingers!" I suggested slowly. "Yikes! You're a big help! The next time I need advice, I'll call Harry Potter," he shouted. I don't know why Tom was so mad. Did he want me to give him the answers? |
