Interview with Prof. O'Connell
By Summer

The End of Term came just about a month ago, and new changes have been announced a couple weeks afterwards. I was fortunate enough to track down one of our newest professors, Professor Stephan O'Connell! As a devoted actress myself, I asked the Professor about his position as the head of the Drama Club.

Summer: Good day, Professor! How are you?
Professor: Hello there Summer, I'm very well thanks, and you?
Summer: Oh, I'm great, thanks! Now, you are the new staff advisor in charge of the Drama Club. How do you like that position?
Professor: Yes, that's right, Headmistress Dumbledore thought I could handle it when I arrived; of course I was craving the position when I heard its former leader had left the school. I love the position as it is now, the club hasn't opened just yet, but when it does I should really enjoy it!
Summer: What is your background in drama?
Professor: Well, I'll start off by saying that I love Drama almost as much as I love Hogwarts. Being a Half-blood, I went to Muggle school prior to Hogwarts and I was the lead in the play at my school when I was only ten, and I loved it. When I did make it in Hogwarts, although there wasn't an official club, I was known for my dramatic ways and for being a comedian. I have and continue to read all sorts of plays as well.
Summer: What do you hope to accomplish this term with the Drama Club? Do you have anything planned?
Professor: This term my biggest hope for the club is that students are introduced to the art, like they have been before with Professor Opal's club. I will introduce short lessons in the club room to educate future actors/directors/playwrights, but most of all the point of this club is to escape the work load of classes and have a good time leaving you a take on a new character. Plans for the club will be the lessons, some acting games, like the popular charades! And the biggest plan of all is the main productions we'll put on. These are big plays and shows that are filled with almost all of the Drama Club and we practice and perform to the school. For anymore information I really suggest you visit our board!
Summer: Wow, thank you so much for your time, Professor! I'd be sure to join the club, sir! Thank you.
Professor: Thank you Summer, see you soon.

Well, you heard it from the man himself! The Drama Club is here, and ready! If you're interested in the dramatic arts, you should consider the Drama Club, located in the Annex Building, corridor 1.
Lead Prefects plans for future world domination
By Evan Bishop

Tom Riddle. Honor roll student, Lead Prefect, and future ruler of the world? As Tom goes about fulfilling his requirements at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, many ask the question of what his future plans are for taking over. I have taken it upon myself to ask Tom a few questions on the subject and see if he could offer the reader a little bit of insight into his thoughts.

Evan: So tell me Tom, hows being the Head Prefect going first of all? Do you enjoy the leadership position?
Tom: So far it's going great! I enjoy being in a position of power very much. Gives me a little more...freedom.

Evan: Do you have any specific plans for when graduating from Hogwarts?
Tom: To become the greatest & most fear wizard ever of course.

Evan: How long do you think it will take to finally conquer?
Tom: I'm not sure how long it will take me to reach my goal but rest assured I have friends helping me along the way.

Evan: What about the Ministry? Any worries that they will come after you?
Tom: Let them. I'll outsmart 'em any day.

Evan: Also do you fear anything might stand in your way?
Tom: I may run across a few snags here & there but I'm a smart guy, I'm sure I'll figure out a way around them.

Evan: Have you always planned on conquering or did it just come to you one day? What made you think of doing it?
Tom: It's always been a dream of mine. It's in my blood.

Evan: Any other thoughts you would like to add for the interested readers?
Tom: Just that I will make it well worth anyone's time that joins me & my group.

Suffice to say, I believe that the name Tom Riddle, for us, will always be a remembrance. Great things come from the future. Lets see if the Slytherin Prefect will become the ruler of the world. If so, will he run the world better than the ministry? Only time will tell.
The Young and Restless: Hogwarts
By SoD

The first ever Hogwarts soap opera's first episode was on Saturday, July 14th in the middle of a dance taking place in the great hall. The soaps co-stars were Jenii Chang and Kiley Blaire, two students in Slytherin. The soap is about an owner and her pet. Their relationship takes a drastic turn when Jenii [pet] finds out that Kiley [owner] was telling lies. Jenii starts a heated argument, including flying curling irons. The argument leads to a full-out wrestling match. There's hair pulling, elbowing and even tickling. Finally, Kiley throws herself at Maya leading to Jenii stomping out of the Great Hall to go pack her bags. Did the red-head leave Hogwarts? Of course not. She takes one last look at the Great Hall as she's about to leave and breaks down at the site of Kiley and Maya. She seeks comfort in her friend Scarlet. When Kiley steals Scarlet away from Jenii, she accepts the hugs of another fellow Slytherin, Gred Weasley. It looks like it's going to end in sorrow much to the dismay of the fans when suddenly Kiley gets jealous and takes Jenii back. The soap ends, to the applause of many, with the two Slytherins back together. Luckily, I got to sit down and have a short chat with stars Kiley and Jenii. Here's what they had to say:

SoD: Good Evening.
Kiley Blaire: Evening
Jenii Chang: Kiley!
Jenii pounces on her co-star.
KB: Woot
Kiley hugs her co-star.
SoD: Alrighty, Enough love.
JC: Yes Ma'am.
Kiley twiddles her thumbs.
SoD: How does it feel staring in Hogwarts first ever soap?
KB: Well, it feels great...I do so love being the center of attention
JC: hmm. It's quite fun actually. I really enjoyed it.
Jenii turns to Kiley
JC: we know.
Kiley sticks her tongue out at Jenii.
SoD Can we be expecting more episodes to come?
KB: Well...
Kiley looks at Jenii and Jenii smiles back.
JC: Perhaps.
KB: Yeah, we haven't really discussed it
JC: ...I mean, she's rather a pain to work with...
SoD: Really? Do you have anything to say about that?
SoD turns questioningly to Kiley.
KB: Not really...she's right, after all
SoD: mmhm.
SoD scribbles some notes.
Kiley attempts to peer at what SoD is writing and SoD covers her paper.
SoD: How does your on-screen relationship compare to your off-screen relationship?
KB: Well, we're definitely not lovers off-screen, for one
JC: Yes, but she is my owner off screen.
Kiley nods in agreement.
JC: *continues* ...and I do love her, but more like a sister.
KB: Yesh, sisterly love
SoD: ahh. I see.
SoD makes more notes.
Kiley makes another attempt at peeking
SoD continues to cover her work.
SoD: Alright, you guys are friends and housemates, was it hard to yell at each other during those heated arguments?
JC: Not really. Actually, it was kind of fun.
KB: Not really...I mean, we both know none of that stuff was true
KB: I was trying not to laugh my head off the whole time
JC: Me too. I was suppressing laughter the whole time I was supposed to be crying.
SoD: How do people you see daily and knew before you starred in this soap treat you now?
KB: Pretty much the same, actually...
KB: Though we've gotten some stunning reviews
JC: I'm not treated any differently, I mean everyone thought highly of us before this
JC: Yes, she's right. I'm sure we'll get excellent treatment from the nurse.
SoD: Really? I'm sure that's quite a story, but I'm really out of time...
SoD makes a few last notes. 'Talk to Nurse'
SoD: ...unless you guys had anything you wanted to add.
JC: Nope, I think I'm good.
KB: No, I haven't got anything
SoD: Alrighty. Well, thank you for your time. I hope to be able to see a future episode and I wish you well in your future careers.
JC: Thank you.
KB: Thanks

The first episode was amazing, the reviews were high, and I can't wait to see another episode.
Young and the Restless: Hogwarts
By a Great Hall Reporter

The Gryffindor-hosted Harry Potter dance saw more than the drama of the new 5th movie and 7th book. It was also the scene of Hogwarts' first official soap opera. Below is this reporter's summary of the first two episodes, which took place in the Great Hall of Hogwarts around midnight on Saturday.

Jenii Chang and Kiley Blaire were once very much in love...but what happened? One minute they were enjoying a fancy jig on the dance floor in the Great Hall, the next they're screaming at each other. Lies! Betrayal! Cheating and stealing! The popcorn starts flooding into people's mouths as the cat fight begins. Kiley and Jenii wrestle in the middle of the dance floor, pulling each other's hair, punching and kicking wherever they can reach. They continue to yell: "I thought you loved me!" "You'll be nothing without me!" "You'll be pining for me within hours!" All of a sudden, they're torn apart by a former lover of Kiley's: Maya Parker. Kiley runs into the comfort of her past flame's arms as Jenii bursts into tears and runs from the Great Hall... but not before she throws a curling iron straight at Kiley's head! The hair-curler-turned-deadly-weapon connects with its target, and...

Kiley is dead!

Pandemonium breaks out as the onlookers sob and discuss what to do with the body (but do absolutely nothing to help the dead girl). Finally, Scarlet Santuzza dumps a glass of water on Kiley, and the girl wakes up...only to discover that she has been turned into a vampire! Seeking solace, she clings to the only other vampire in the room (Scarlet) and the two attempts to run away together. They are halted, however, by Jenii, the recently slighted lover of Scarlet. More yelling ensues, and Kiley is forced to watch as Jenii gives up on her own gender all together and begins a hugging fest with Gred Weasley. Jealous beyond reason, Kiley cries alongside Joy Jennings, and the two turn to each other for support. The jealous feelings permeate the Great Hall like a thick blanket, until finally Kiley can take no more. She runs of out of the Great Hall, still crying, and screaming the words, "I still love you, Jenii!!" The curtain falls as the rest of the students watch Jenii chase her true beloved out of the room.

This new soap opera was met with ecstatic reviews by the crowd who witnessed these pilot episodes. There were tears, cheers, and joyful laughter as the group of actresses (and one actor) bowed to their audience. Madame Pomfrey, resident matron of Hogwarts and one of the sobbing observers, told this reporter that the soap "was absolutely spiffing...the best soap I've seen since...wait, it's the only soap I've ever seen." And another viewer, who wished to remain anonymous, proclaimed the soap to be "a heartbreaking story of betrayal, relationships, and weave-pulling...an absolutely wonderful soap that everyone should see."

There is no word yet on whether the cast of "Young and the Restless: Hogwarts" will perform any more of their amazingly dramatic episodes, but one thing is for certain...this is one soap opera that students will be talking about for years to come.
