Penshire Prattle
By Shalamar Magoo
Well, this month has definitely been a busy month in Penshire! Penvivor is heating up and sadly I was knocked out first round! But leaving the island wasnt so bad, at least I can relax now! The contest seems to be the hottest thing in the Penshire Common Room right now, such sibling rivalry is always welcomed in our Common Room!
This month we have seen some new students join our great house as well. As we all know, its tough starting in a new school. Youre taken out of your circle and thrown in with another mix of unknown things and people. Its hard, but with friends and mentors they can get through!
But, with the high spirits were all in now with Thanksgiving coming up and Christmas almost here, it has to be easier to get along with a new house right now, right?

Penshire Prattle
by Ava Black
Penshire has had an interesting month! We have been having a competition called Penvivor. It is a bit like survivor! This weeks adventure leads us down to the final three. It is between Ava Black, Bryony Casten, and Danny Lupin. Know knows who will win! We are gearing up for our next big quidditch match against Gryffindor. Penshire hopes to see another Victory! Now to the part you have all been anticipating. Yes, Penshire has seen a slip in house points this month. A small set back but no worries. We should be back on top in no time! So watch out!!!
Penshire of the Month
By Ava Black
This month we would like to recognize Thomasina Sealy as the Penshire of the Month. Masi has been a member for just over a year. She has almost reached 10,000 post in that time. She is an active member and a good friend. She has been steadily earning points in articles and homework. A faithful spammer, she also brings many delightful things to the common room for us to enjoy! Thanks Masi, and Congratulations you are this month's Penshire of the Month.

Professor of the Month
By Ava Black
Penshire would like to recognize Professor Tabatha Moonstar as this month's featured Professor. Professor Moonstar joined the staff in the summer as part of the summer language lessons. Her class Irish Folklore became part of the regular term. The classroom is located in the third corridor of the Annex building. The lessons are an interesting blend of many different legends native to Ireland. I hope you will check them out! Congratulations Professor Moonstar you are Professor of the Month!
Penvivor Round 1
by Ava Black
Penshire is having its very own survivor type game called Penvivor. The first round was a grueling post-a-thon. The two people that didn’t post enough were asked to leave the famous island of pena-bobo. After five days of posting Shalamar Magoo and Lucia Valentine were asked to leave the island. The top poster was none other than myself, Ava Black. Does this mean a certain victory. I think not. Our Penvivor host Mr. Samuel Craft has many grueling task ahead for the remaining contest. It is still anyones game.
Penvivior Round 2
by Ava Black
Penvivior is currently the hottest thing going on in Penshire. The second contest was a points contest. Contestants raced to earn as many points as they could! The only catch … no homework was allowed!! That still left plenty to do with shops , books, the Sorcerer stone challenge and articles. The race was on and Ava Black came out on top again! Sadly, Riley West was asked to leave the island of penabobo! Wonder what task Sam Craft will think of next!
Penvivor Round 3
By Ava Black
The next round of penvivor proved to be another great event. The remaining contestants Ava Black, Danny Lupin, Bryony Casten and Araceli Mendoza were asked to complete as many homework lessons as they could. Stratagies popped up this round as Ava Black waited till the end to post her standings. This proved to be to her advantage as she stole the victory once again. All in Penshire were sad to see Araceli Mendoza kicked off the island of Penabobo.
Featured Penshire RPG
Araceli Mendoza
This month's featured RPG is called "Another Fun Trip to Hogsmeade." This is truly an amazing RPG. Started in May of 2006, it is still going on to this day, with both of its' participants posting very regularly. These two participants are Imogen Riddle and Kayla Black of Penshire, both of whom joined in the latter part of last year. This RP has continued on for 7 pages worth of full posts. These posts are not quick small one-liners. The basic storyline is two friends going shopping together. Congratulations, Gen and Kay for excellent RPing!
Welcoming New Serpents!
By Jenii Chang
November brought in many new students that I would like to take a minute to welcome both to our gorgeous house of Slytherin and to all of PAD'S!
Among all of the new students who we'll get to at some point in this article all about them we're welcoming back to students who dissappeared. Welcome back Semara Black and Criss Drapeau!
The first new Slytherin I would like to welcome to our wonderful house is Taylor Blaire. We're still trying to discover if she is in any way related to our Kiley Blaire. Kestral arrived next happy and excited and is now an active member of our house. Shortly after Taylor arrived Keira Riddle was sorted into our house. Keira comes to us all the ways from Germany! Aren't we special?
Kitty Kitona transfered here from Ravenclaw and we are happy to have her and make her our own! Naesala du Ciel arrived next and has been continually active ever since. Liel was our next new student. She was welcomed immediately and has jumped right in. Adrian arrived the same day and Adrian too jumped right in.
Will Vandrom arrived the next day with his pet frog named Slytherin. Although Will dissappeared... *secretly thinks it was probably out of fear*... we'll sure he'll become active soon! Michelle Fershet has arrived a couple days ago and didn't get scared away. She jumped right in and played some of our games.
Lastly, I'd like to welcome Alanna who joined today! Alanna has already started posting and we're glad to have her.
Welcome all new Slytherins and we're glad to have you to help us win those cups again!
Slytherin Scoop
By Beonca Aims
What is going on in our common room? I bet youd like to know, but alas, I am not telling. We have gotten some newbies, and many of us are still hanging out and working on points, lessons, and other things. We just published another Daily Prophet, and a pretty good one if I say so myself. With Jenii Chang now in out mists, the DP should be rocking as well as our OG article count. Everyone is getting along as we Slytherins doand we have grown. Lily Merlin and myself have been tapped to be Assistant Prefects, so now we are a powerhouse with JenJen being the Senior, and Seraphina and Kayla the Prefects. And of course our wonder HOH and other Slytherin members, so just sit back and watch out hour glass raise as we are determined to keeping the Cups.
My Life as a Prefect Assistant
By Penny Hung
As most of you readers may know, a change has taken place in Hogwarts. The staff have created a new position, although it may not be formal, for students in each house. This new position is a Prefect Assistant. A Prefect Assistant assists the 3 prefects in the house. They are given several moderation abilities, although they are not allowed to abuse them. They can only use these abilities if a prefect instructs them to. I, for one, am a Ravenclaw Prefect Assistant. Since a few of our Prefects are quite busy with Muggle Lives lately, me, along with Summer [the other PA], have been given several tasks. Some of them are just regular job, such as checking on topics, etc. However, being a Prefect Assistant is quite fun. People ask you to do stuff for them, such as passing messages on, etc. It gives you some responsibility, as well.
Ravens for the Cup!
Updates to our Calendar
By Roxanne Whitez
So far, if one would peer at the calendar posted in the Gryffindor common room, you would probably notice that it is fairly filled up with numerous things. Well, not exactly numerous but house events that range from three days to almost more than a week! So what exactly have the Gryffs been doing?
Well, for one thing, as soon as the month of November started, the housemates have decided to start with another Post-o-Thon, only the continuation of our house Triwizard Tournament. While that lasted a good three days, we then decided to proceed directly into a "Help me! Contest." However, that event was not as successful to say to least, as no such activity was recorded to this event. But without any wait or hesitation, we gave our wonderful Gryffindors a week of rest, and celebrated the birthday of Hermione Granger in the meantime! The second grand event that has already started and is still going on is the Point-o-Thon which is only one of the several ones we have had so far since the Start of the Term. Last but not least, the month ends with a happy birthday to Tallulah Schiffer, one of our new Gryffindors from before. Until next time, the calendar will only be busier.
Rising numbers
By Roxanne Whitez
Have our numbers risen since the last issue? Have any statuses changed? Well, for once thing, the numbers have definitely raised a considerable amount thanks to the Post-o-Thon we had in the beginning of the month of November. So for this issue, here is what Gryffindor now has as statuses:
The red-hair, ickle-hater Gryffindor, more formerly known as Leah Black, remains first and dare I say that she intends to remain in that spot for as long as she can without our second prize winner, Linda Danes with only a hundred points behind. Leah Black has admitted that there was a time when she was found beaten and thus rushed to gain her position once again. Thankfully, our dear Dainee is a kind person and let her go. Next come the usual best friends, Kristin and Aerwin with a thousand points apart, followed by Adrianna La Cerva with only 2K away from tie-ing with Aerwin. Megan Miller is also separated by 2K, coming in sixth as yours truly is another thousand away. Another Black joins the league, as Kalie is carefully making her way up, with our very own HoH Professor Opal with 6,7K and last but not least, Amber Potter keeps her status as last, even if she was not with us for a good period of time. 'Til the next issue!
Welcome to Gryffindor!
By Megan Miller
This month brought with it four new students who were sorted into Gryffindor. First, we welcome Calie Granger (formerly known as Joy Jenning) who traded in her yellow and black uniform for a red and gold one. We're glad that she chose to join us here in the Gryffindor common room.
Next, we welcome Jason Mewes who had no idea that he was of magical blood until he was finally informed by his mother and grandmother only a few weeks prior to coming to Hogwarts, after his father died. We wish him all the best here in Gryffindor.Next, welcome to Shaney West, a Veela. Last but not least, we welcome Kevin Potter, who had been to Hogwarts previously but was in sorted into a different house. Also, we have Will Sutton.
Among the newbies, an old face has finally returned to us after a month or so of being away due to muggle life. Welcome back, Amber Potter! We missed you!
All newbies were welcomed into Gryffindor with warm greetings and lots of assistance and advice and were all encouraged to participate in anything that catches their interest and to also join the many school clubs. We know that their lights will shine brightly here.
Roxanne and Gawyn: Gryffindor's Newest Couple?
By Megan Miller
With nothing new happening in Gryffindor gossip-wise, until now of course, this article has been neglected and forgotten in the past few months. With nothing new to report and constantly repeating the same news over and over again, writing this article seemed utterly pointless to both myself and Gryffindor's other house reporter, Roxanne Whitez.
This month brought with it, finally, some new gossip, not a large amount but enough to be able to bring this article out of the vault and back into public view. Ironically enough, the gossip in this month's article was provided by Roxanne Whitez herself.
It seems that Roxanne and fellow house mate, Gawyn Crossguard, are well on their way to becoming Gryffindor's newest couple. Quite recently, the two, who are close friends to begin with, were seen together walking hand in hand strolling down the streets of Hogsmeade and both seemed to be completely oblivious to their surroundings, mostly focused on each other. As a good friend of both Roxanne and Gawyn, this reporter has been informed that Roxanne is returning home for a bit due to the upcoming arrival of her baby sister and is bringing Gawyn along with her.
I guess all the rest of us will just have to sit back and see what happens. More details soon to come. Tune in next month to hear more on this potential couple, and hopefully some others as well.
Love is In the Air
By Kiley Blaire
There is always the chance for love at Hogwarts, and it seems that Hufflepuff has some especially prominent players in Cupids game during this first part of our term. Rumors abound about the love connection between Kamron Flame and Maya Parker.
Yep yep... he hugged Maya ...
Aw, the ghosties are in love ...
Maya and Kamron sitting in a tree...
And then theres the matter of them hugging, right in the middle of the Slytherin-Hufflepuff Quidditch match! To outsiders it would seem as if these two are well on their way to a happy relationshipBut theres more.
There are more rumors, this time about Kamron and Ryana Cartenich, also of Hufflepuff. Some are even as shocking as this statement, made by a witness who saw it happen:
Kamron's gonna ask Ryana out... should she accept?
Should she indeed! Will Ryana risk her friendship with Maya for a chance to be with Kamron? A close friend of all three in question had this to say:
I'm shocked that Ryana would want to go out with Kamron, since I think Maya and Kamron are very sweet together. But some people are always determined to get what they want.
Indeed, people are determined. This reporter can only hope that in the end everything will turn out alright for all of these students, and that Cupid will shoot his arrow away from Hufflepuff house for the time being.
Some Random Announcements Within the House of Hufflepuff:

Joy Jennings has announced that she has now, after two years of hard work, made it to 1,000 posts.

Zoey Taylor was seen telling the house to blame Professor Lockhart.

Angus Montana was seen announcing that she was the coolest girl in Hufflepuff.

Dakota Tallfeather was spotted letting a newbie know that everyone in the house is pretty cool or at least crazy.

Ciria Cresentlight was seen telling some friends that Ron is a cutie pie. *rolls eyes*

Kamron Flame announced to the house that he woke up one night with bite marks on his arm.

Immediately afterwards Ryana Cartenich let the house know that it could have been Joy but that it definitely wasnt her.

Professor Lockhart was actually seen telling his students to be good while he was away for a weekend.
Delving into the houses: A five-part column
By Araceli Mendoza
Sure, you all know what each house represents, and I'm sure you know at least a couple people from each house. But do you really know about that house? I'm going to delve into each house, one a month, so that YOU know more about each house.
This month is Penshire. The new house, it is probably the one that you know the least about. Well, Penshire is the house for all things creative: musicians, artists, writers, storytellers, everything! The mascot is a crane, and the main color is teal.
As for the people, the Head of House is Professor Ripley. Our Head Girl is from Penshire, Ava Black. The Senior Prefect is Samuel Craft, and the other prefects are Shalamar Magoo, and Sephiroth. The Prefect Assistants are Bryony Casten and Araceli Mendoza. In addition to the staff, there are many other members such as Deirdre Torrey, Thomasina Sealy, Kayla Black, Roger Davies, Lilac Brown, Guin Talaven, Danny Lupin, Riley West, and Lynexe Couronne. The house mood is very cheerful and pleasant. There are always things going on, such as Penvivor (a survivor like game), Spam (a very popular game), and Posting Wars galore!
Now you can see, Penshire is truly an amazing house!
