| Postaholics Alert in Gryffindor House
By Roxanne Whitez Recently in the month of September, even with the start of muggle schools and Hogwarts' classes starting and such, many and the same as usual are still posting daily, reaching always for higher numbers, trying to beat either the poster with the higher number in front of them or just for the fun of posting. As the order has changed a considerate bit as I had written in the last issue, here are this month's post numbers update! Still holding her position firm and strong, Abigail Rose-Turner has quickly reached her 15000th post in mid September, after posting back and forth with fellow Gryffindors. The two best friends, Kristin and Aerwin follow up with 11000 posts a piece, though the Prefect is leading the ex-Prefect at this rate. Next comes no other than one of our house 'postaholics', Linda Danes, who had hit 7000 the first week of September, only to reach 8000 just recently! Next comes our Chocolate Addict, only behind by a thousand, Kalie Black with 7000 posts, followed closely by the other sugar addict, yours truly with over 6,5k. Our Head of House is still holding a place in the Top Ten, her numbers only a week worth of posting (estimated of course) behind. Writers Adrianna La Cerva and Megan Miller come next; Adrianna reaching 6000 at the same time as Linda and Megan behind just by 400 points. And last by not least, comes our fellow prankster, Amber Potter only behind by another thousand posts. So until next time, fellow school mates! The Gryffs are still roaring. |
True Halloween Traditions at Hogwarts!
Beonca Aims Every Halloween, since the beginning of Pads Hogwarts, the Halloween Dance has always been one everyone looks forward to! Oh its not the typical dance, oh no! This one is the dance that is talked about afterwards for WEEKS! Whats so different about this dance? Well, ask any student that was here last year, or the year before! Always a great time and plenty of laughs, way more then any other dance as even staff lets their hair down and are silly. See, you come in costume! You log-in as the character you dressed as, so in the past, weve had famous kings, queens, knights, pirates, writers, singers, actorspoets, you name it! Indiana Jones, Will Turner, Tiger Lily, even Edgar Allen Poe and Winnie-the-Pooh have come to our dance. Historical, movie characters, fictional, famous dead or alive and the infamous! Food fights, games, and confetti everywhere! Its one dance you will want to clear your calendar for. The closer we get to Halloween, party plans will be made and the announcement and staff contest will be forthcomingso start thinking who or even what you will be coming as! |

| Return To Sender
by Adrianna La Cerva There's something strange in the air as countless carrier owls have been reported missing. For two weeks now, the Ministry of Magic has been receiving increasing amounts of letters from wizarding families and businesses regarding their strangely disappearing messengers. Complaints are flooding in concerning undelivered packages and documents. Even more puzzling, fifty owls were found petrified outside of the Albanian forest amongst various packages and letters strewn about the ground. What does this mean for our community? It seems that the Minister of Magic has no answers for us yet. In a statement made outside of the Post Office in Hogsmeade yesterday, the Minister claimed, "I can assure you that the Ministry is doing all they can at the present time to get answers as to what is going on. Until then, we feel it best to send your messages in person via floo powder and apparition." The Ministry has hired seventy knew employees to deliver messages by hippogriff in order to carry out day to day operations. Until we learn more about this phenomenon, the Ministry feels it best to keep your family owls inside! |

| Something Random and/or funny is happening in Gryffindor!
By Audrea Martin This term, Gryffindor has a new topic in their Common Room where all those useless little facts can be of good use. I, Audrea Martin, started a topic back in June for all those tidbits of information you thought were funny and wanted to share. It started simply, with my observation of the percentage of posts people had made in the CR after the board clean out (for example, Abigail Turner made 348%), and it just got funnier from there. Here are some more things you probably didn't know that we now know in Gryffindor: -racecar is exactly the same spelled backwards and forwards (it's a palindrome) -The longest capital city name in the world is in Thailand. It has 168 characters! -Why do they call a giant baseball a softball? It's no softer than a baseball and since it's bigger than a baseball, it hurts more when it hits you. -ZANDZEEPSODEMINERAAL- WATERSTEENSTRALEN is a 37-letter Dutch word that means 'shove off' or 'take a hike' -"I have six locks on my door all in a row. When I go out, I lock every other one. I figure no matter how long somebody stands there picking the locks, they are always locking three." ~Elayne Boosler -There is an entire website devoted to the proper way to play shotgun (determining who gets the front seat of the car) and there's a book with the rules. -There's 4840 square yards in an acre. -Audrea's favorite top 10 list is "Top 10 bad things about having a summer time share with Darth Vader" -"If your cousin happens to live next to a house painted gold-and-slate, it's probably best not to scream, "Omigod, it's Penshire!" (I think this person would prefer to remain anonymous) -If a cat always lands on its feet and toast always lands butter side down, then what would happen if you strapped toast to a cat's back and dropped it? -If you play football, don't hike on pi! -"Before you criticize someone, you should walk a mile in their shoes. That way, when you criticize them, you're a mile way and you have their shoes." ~Author Unknown |

| Housing Boom
By Adrianna La Cerva Financial analysts are baffled by the sudden boost in housing prices in the Godric's Hollow area. Many of the homes in that community, which were pricing out at a maximum 300,000 Galleons, have tripled their worth in a mere matter of months! This unexplained phenomenon is leaving many people scratching their heads. One theory is that due to the return of You-Know-Who, many of the wizarding world's more wealthy citizens "find comfort in this infamous community of Godric's Hollow that one simply cannot put a price tag on" as one real estate broker, Tom Brewswick, puts it. With the new figures published by The Magical Neighborhood magazine, we couldn't disagree more. A three bedroom, two bath, single family home with a four broom garage is going for an astounding 979,000 Galleons! Even more outrageous, though not surprising, is the cost of homes closest to the one that He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named destroyed that fateful night, home of the late James and Lily Potter, which are going for more than 2 million Galleons! The magazine reveals that buyers feel safe in a community which at one time housed the only one ever to survive Lord Voldemort's wrath, Harry Potter. Could this be true? Could that small house in which, little Harry Potter gave the world hope really be the cause of this real estate phenomenon? Could the nation witches and wizards be buying safety in the form of housing? After all, we heard it a thousand times before: location, location, location! Meanwhile, the Spinner's End community has experienced a definitive decline in sales. Home prices have been down 40% for the past 6 months and experts say it's only going to get worse. |
