What I Saw
By: Anonymous
As most students have probably heard, the Slytherin Common Room is a
very interesting place! I have noticed just just sitting in my usual comfy chair, and watching what goes on around me can have a high level of entertainment. Not wanting to any of my fellow Slytherins to know who is ratting them out, I had to write this article, about what I saw, anonymously, for fear of repercussions! One Ms. Rosehill was seen stalking our dear Professor Snape, following him around like a puppy waiting for a scrap of food! I fear our HOH may have to hire bodyguards to keep the groupie away from him! Kamron Flame was seen tutoring a new student, Sermara Black, on how to be nice! Not sure how thats going to work out. but Ill keep my eyes peeled for an update. Professor Lockhart was seen starting a thread to celebrate his own coolness! Anyone who can afford to spend THAT MUCH money on hair care products simply MUST be doing something right, somewhere. Darmean Volten was seen passing over 5000 posts! An involved and true Slytherin, Dar has voluntarily joined Posting Addicts Anonymous
(PAA), and we wish him a speedy recovery or NOT! Victoria Malfoy was seen licking a rainbow! I guess she took the commercials about Taste the Rainbow a little TOO seriously! Jennifer Kull and Kayla West, our beloved Prefects, were spotted having a food fight in the common room! Cottage cheese, pizza, scones and mozzarella were flying in every direction. Good thing our HOH was occupied in his garden!
Couples of Gryffindor: An Update
by Megan Miller
It seems that summer has taken its toll amongst many of Gryffindor's couples. Many have been separated and haven't seen or heard from each other for quite a while, a very good example of this is Jared Knight and myself. Amber Potter has also not heard from, or seen, Soul Fire for a few months due to his 6-week absence this summer, hopefully they'll see more of each other once Soul returns.
Recently, Roxanne Whitez and Jack White were seen together in Madame Puddifoot's Tea Shop in Hogsmeade, and though Roxanne has explained that they are not a couple as of yet, this reporter has suspicions that they will be soon.
Still going strong are Manda Black and James Potter, Kristin Johnson and Ed Starwind, Audrea Martin and Vincent Crow, and Aerwin Turner and Alex Potter.
Will they Live Slimily Ever After?
By: Kayla West
The Slytherin Common Room is notorious for it's dank and dull atmosphere, cold, uncomfortable air and nasty, sneaky inhabitants. But over these last few weeks, a significant change has developed in that house, one that is entirely contradictive of the Serpents and all that they stand for.
Yes Folks, you've guessed it. Love is in the air.
And it's all down to Slytherin's Senior Prefect Jennifer Kull, who, only a few weeks ago, announced her engagement to Darmean 'Darklord' Volten, her childhood sweetheart. The entire house has been in a somewhat euphoric state, each student expressing their happiness and delight in the joining of these two students. Everyone has been working around the clock to ensure that this will be the Wedding of the Year. Jennifer, a stunning half-gorgon with a talent for confusion and trouble, will wear a breathtakingly beautiful green gown (like you expected any other color?), while the groom is likely to match, although is keeping mum at the moment. The Best Man and Maid of Honor have been announced, which were Kamron Flame and Rainy Dae. The bride is rumored to have no less than 5 bridesmaids, while it looks pretty much the same figure for Darmean's groomsmen.
The location of the wedding is yet unknown, although we do know that Kayla West, through her infamous connections, has set the couple up with a stunning ten-tier cheese cake, as well as providing them with both a cheese AND a chocolate fountain!
About four hundred guests are expected to attend the weekend-long bash, which is certain to go down in history as one of the most exciting events to happen at Hogwarts! We will keep you updated as the wedding plans commence.
Parties with the Hufflepuffs!
By the Hufflepuffs
In the course of two weeks Hufflepuff has had three parties. What started these parties? Let's find out. The first party was started by, Ronald Weasley. He started to save us all from boredom. We found many ways to entertain ourselves at the party. Talking to friends,
listening to music, playing video games, and truth or dare. Party number two was started by, Elizabeth Crow. This party was to celebrate Joey becoming Hufflepuff representative. The third party was started by our temporary H.O.H., Professor Fairydust, in this party we got to have a chance at flying. So obviously
Hufflepuff is the party house.
Cute Couple...but is Someone Jealous ?
by: Alexis Black, Hufflepuff
Ron and Ciria the perfect Hogwarts couple!  Ron asked Ciria out and can you believe it she said yes!  They are such a cute couple
complete with nicknames and everything!  The only problem is we all think fellow housemate  is green with envy.  A certain Huffie  asked Ron out right before he asked Ciria out and I am not sure she was taking no for an answer very happily.  She has been moping around the common room for almost a week now.  She claims, "I'm happy for the couple," but I think she is just hiding her jealousy.  You figure it out!
Serpents Preparing to Strike
By: Seraphina Rosehill
As always happens with the new term, the Slytherin Quidditch team is being rebuilt and revamped, gearing up for another great season. The new Captain and Co-Captain of the Serpents are Jennifer Kull and Kayla West. House Prefects and two of the hardest working Slytherins around, we are
confident that they will work hard and always do their best to make sure we have the best team possible. Both were given their positions by unanimous decision, and have the full confidence of the entire house. Tryouts have still not ended, with many students eager to participate and help us to win the Quidditch Cup two years running! Keep an eye out for the new Serpent line-up; its sure to be a fantastic team!
Chaos Claws RPG Tryout Results
by Summer Levy, Ravenclaw
Last OG issue, we updated you with a brief summary of the Chaos Claws ryouts. This time, we've got our team! After a discussion between the newly appointed Captain, yours truly, the new co-captain, Raelyn Ethania, with help from our lovely Head of House, Professor Lily, the team has been decided as follows:

Seeker: Alphonse Elric
Keeper: Summer Levy
Beaters: Will Potter and Raelyn Ethania
Chasers: Samantha Hola, Andela Schmorgie, and Matt Driscol

The team players were chosen after an analysis of their activeness and reliability, their role-playing, and most importantly, their
understanding of the new rules.

We've also got a reserve team of experienced players who have played last season.
Interview with the Hufflepuff Team Captain
By Isabella Malfoy

Isabella Malfoy (IM): How do you like your new position of captain?

Zoey Taylor (ZT): It's great, I only hope I can lead the team as well as
last year's captain.

IM: How do you feel about the pressure? Do you think you can handle it
come game time?

ZT:  *smiles* I think I can manage to hold my own.

IM: What are some of your tactics for the coming season?

ZT: Lots and lots of work...

IM: And finally, how much is Hufflepuff going to rock this year?

ZT: I think we are completely going to dominate
*A New Year (And A New Season)
by Anigail Rose Turner
All the Quidditch addicts at Hogwarts will be excited to realize that the new season is nearing. Even though the first game doesn't start right alongside term, preparations have already begun (at least, in Gryffindor). The rosters are being chosen, and the captains have a lot on their minds.

Aerwin Turner, who took over for her sister Leah Black after her graduation, took a while to make her choice as to who would fill her spot as Co-Captain. It must have been a difficult choice, what with all the potentials. Finally, her decision was announced at the Quidditch Tryouts in the R.P.G. section. IC cousin Manda Black was to slip into her old place - it was obvious that Manda had big shoes to fill.

Now, the house is in the final stages of picking an role-playing-team roster. It's going to bring some tough decisions to captains Aerwin and Manda, but the whole house has utter confidence in their ability.
GRYFFINDOR FOR THE CUP!*
Everybody Wants to Play
by Anigail Rose Turner
It must be exciting, thinking of being on the Quidditch team. Imagine being able to say that you were a part of something so historical? The very thought of it is enough to make a person want to try out for their house team. And most everybody goes in hopeful that they're going to be chosen.

With an equal chance, the applicants in Gryffindor got to show their stuff in the R.P.G. section starting in late June/early July. And
though the roster still isn't finalized, it sounds like the Gryffindor Captains have got some ideas.

But even those who aren't chosen for the team are asked to be reserve players for the role-playing team. And that's not all - even those who aren't chosen for the role-playing team can always try out for the screenshots team. Both require skill, and the Gryffindor Captains have high standards. Who has what it takes?*
Quidditch Talk
By Abigail Turner
Even though it's only the summer time, the school is abuzz with talk of Quidditch. Captains are being chosen, rosters are being pulled together carefully, and everybody's waiting in anticipation for the new season. The houses are going in again with a clean slate - and an equal chance to win the cup.

The season doesn't start in alignment with the term beginning, but   it's sure to follow soon after. And even though we're excited for the games to begin, it's obvious that the wait is worthwhile. After all, it gives us time to become accustomed to the altered rules and to make sure everybody is comfortable in their positions before we actually have to start.

Pumped and ready, the houses will enter the Quidditch Pitch with confidence - only time can tell us which house will emerge clutching the ever-coveted Quidditch Cup.
The New Gryffindor Quidditch Team!
by Megan Miller
Whoosh! With the start of a brand new Quidditch season will also come brand new Quidditch teams. Earlier in the summer try-outs for the Gryffindor team were held and newly appointed captain, Aerwin Turner, was left with the task of picking between the many team hopefuls. After careful consideration, the team was finally formed.

Aerwin will return as the team's Seeker, Felicitiy Hedwig will be playing Keeper, newly appointed team co-captain Manda Black, along with Jared Knight, will be playing Beaters, and Kristin Johnson, Abigail Rose-Turner and Roxanne Whitez will be playing Chasers. Subs for this year's team are Amber Potter and Kalie Black.

When asked how she thought the new team would do this season, Aerwin had this to say, "I don't know how we will do. I guess we will find out as the year goes on. I am not about to say we are the best because I don't know about the other teams. I feel our team is good but there is always room for improvement."

Well, there you have it. Good luck to all Quidditch teams this season!
The Tri-Wizard Tournament on Hold...
By Danny Lupin
A few months ago, Hogwarts held it's breath as 5 champions were picked to compete in this Tri-Wizard Tournament that a Professor Sebastian Valient told us all about. We voted in or houses and 5 wizards and witches were draw from the goblet of fire and the tournament was underway!
As an update now, Professor Valiant has left us in the middle of our first task, which means the events are temporarily called off as this is figured out. Use this time as an advantage to train your champion, and create cheers and banners for them! Stay positive, and I'll see you when the tourney re-begins!
Triwizard Tournament
By Abigail Turner
The Triwizard Tournament, which started during the middle of the 2005-2006 term, has been an exciting, if nerve-wrenching, experience for everybody.

The Champions were chosen - one to represent each house - and the first task began. But things were bumpy from there: the first task is a long one, and each of the champions has faced a huge amount of trouble on their journey through the mirror maze.

At the start of August, it was announced that Professor Nathan Weasley would be taking over for the Professor who had started off the tournament. Though we regret that the professor who started things off wasn't able to completely see through the tournament, it's obvious that all of our students have faith that Professor Weasley will bring the tournament to a whole new level.

This is the first time that the Triwizard Tournament has made this much progress in PAD's Hogwarts history and everybody's excited to see how things are going to work out. Only time will tell which of our five champions will emerge victorious.
Personal Opinion
By Lynexe Couronne
Well, some of you might know me; others might have seen me, while most might not even know who I am. Then why am I writing this article? First off, I suppose Im trying to become more of an extrovert. Most students coming in as new students might take on the same tactic I took, to be the mysterious and silent. The person who doesnt seem all friendly. Thats just my character. But during the past few months that Ive settled down in the Penshire house, many things changed my point of view of the school, the students and everything in general. This is my personal opinion.

Penshire, known for their house of uniqueness, creativity, and the joined characteristics of all other four houses put together, is a house of surprise. Sorted into this house, my mind instantly switched onto Grr mode. But I noticed that even if I didnt intend on meeting my housemates, or even think that they would want to meet me, they greeted me despite my arrogant responses. They talked around and even if I werent talking with them, I would feel like I belonged. Many other Penshires were always seen around the common room, helping out the house or just chatting away with newbies or old friends. Encouragement to join in the help or talk was always present while some just sat away, chewing on their candies. Eventually, I found myself grinning every once in a while, greeting the newbies whenever I had the chance and trying to help or joining in any house activities.

What made me change? What in this odd house made me suddenly a bit different? I guess it could be the people I got to know better, or it could just be the Penshire atmosphere that I caught from sunrise to sun down. Whatever it was, Im glad. Im still the Lynexe all the Penshires know from the beginning, but somethings different. And I owe it to the house.
Slytherin V.S. Gryffindor: Why hate?
By: Jennifer Kull (JUNK)
Is it the all Good V.S. Evil? Is it because one side is poor and the other rich? Or is it because one side believes they know it all while the other knows they know it all? Could it be that the one side that knows they know it all is not as knowing as they seem? What if the side that believes they know it all knows that the side who knows they know it all does not know it all?
Does this make sense? No? Then why hate? It doesnt make sense, either! It appears that there have been a few conflicts between the two houses, though the Gryffs are not as much as rivals as the Raves are with the Slytherins. Perhaps there is just a biased opinion of the other from each side. So, how to fix this? Easy. Get over it. Duh.
Why We Dont Belong to Any Other House
Wednesday Addams

First, we dont belong in any other house because we are Slytherins. As Slytherins, we are sorted to the right house and that is where we stay. Oh, sure, a few exceptions have been made to move out or in, but that is due to the Sorting Hat, not the house.

Secondly, lions may be brave, but can they slither through the pipes? And badgers? I like to see one up against a cobra. As for the raven, sure, dark and it can fly, but can it swallow a rat whole? As for the crane, come on, those legs are its weakest point and snakes dont have legs.

Thirdly, we do have the two cups. We did it upright and with hard work. We were cunning in our work, but all was done fairly. We wanted them not only because they mean we did the most, and won our Quidditch games, but we wanted them for one of the hardest working professors here.

FourthlyProfessor Severus Snape, enough said.

Fifthly, there isnt a Slytherin alive who cant whip a potion or use a spell with ease. We can outcast, out mix, and out wit any other house when it comes to those two most important traits of a great witch or wizard.

Sixthly, we dont look good in yellow.
**This is not meant of offend, it was tongue in cheek, take it that way.
Bloody Baron Disappears!
By: Seraphina Rosehill
The Slytherin common room has found itself a bit more quiet, recently, and missing one ghost. The house ghost, the Bloody Baron has disappeared from the common room, and has yet to be found! Mr. Baron, usually cordial and a frequent face in the house, has not been seen for almost a month, and this has the Slytherins concerned. Were left wondering, did one of the other houses play a prank and kidnap our common room mascot? Is there a devious Mastermind behind the disappearance of the His Bloodiness? Or, has he simply gone wandering off and has lost track of time while chasing after the Grey Lady? If you should see a misty looking fellow, with bloodstained clothes, floating about through the castle, please tell him that his Slytherins are looking for him and they want him to come back home!
The Prefect and The New Yorker
by: Jenii Chang, Hufflepuff

Who would have thought our prefect would date our new student from New York?  I wouldn't have.  Well there were hints that new student Joey Rockaway and Prefect Amanda liked each other but even I was surprised when Joey asked Amanda out and she said yes.  Although Joey is still quite shy they are very cute together!
100% Committed
Abigale Turner
After taking two weeks off, Gryffindor was back at work, slapping together all that they could to grab an early lead for the house cup. Even though we've been sitting in the back for a while, we have been working hard and have tons of things planned. But these things couldn't possibly get done without the help of ALL of our active members.
People like Roxanne Whitez & Megan Miller, who wrote almost 20 articles for the paper last month alone and headed off the project of getting Owl Gazette stuff in. But they're not the only ones - others, too, have been working their possibly-now-carpel-tunnel-inflicted hands raw trying to do all that they can for their house.
It seems that Gryffindor's gotten so tight-knit since the end of term, working all that they can to get things done. It's obvious that we're all completely devoted to our house
