| PADs Seven Worldly Wonders
By: Jennifer Kull (JUNK) 1. The Common Rooms. This is the place where each house can retire and just enjoy the company of their ownspecies, so to speak. It is comfortable and feels like home, and the numbers are always growing. 2. The Bulletin Board. This is where the houses can come together. Sure, there are clashes, but most of all, there are friendships that are allowed to flourish, where in the common rooms they would not, if the friends are in different houses. 3. Diagon/Knockturn Alley, and Hogsmeade. These places, which are where we shop, are so full of tiny little areas and places full of fun and food and supplies, that only one thought comes to mind. Who would ever need, or want, anything else? 4. Room of Requirement. Meant for all of the small clubs, this place holds whatever is necessary to keep them going, for going they still are. Students come to hang out, plot, and much more here. Of course, it is always within the rules, and with adult supervisionright? ;) 5. The Owlery. Not only is this a forum where all animals may be stored, and where the famous Legolas Greenleaf resides, it is another place where the students may come together and have fun. It even has a place for greeting cards. How cool! 6. Kitchens. Known by most of the students as the one source of their greatest enjoyment, food, the kitchens are run by no other than house elves. They are always polite, and only make themselves known in the kitchens. Ever the ones to please, theyll get you anything you wish if you set step inside 7. Quidditch Pitch. This pitch has set aside so many things in one place just for a game! There are rules, the actual practice sessions, the team WebPages, and the schedule for the games for the current season. |
| The Heart of It All
By Wednesday Addams When you think about home, it has a heart; this is usually the parents, or the love or the overall atmosphere of a place. Hogwarts has a heart, the center, and the thing that gives it life and sets the pace of the place. This heart is the Staff, with the Headmistress being the wellHeadmistress! The heart of Hogwarts is a loving heart, a protective heart, and kind and fair heart. But it also is a heart that has boundaries, but these are for those found within to be safe. The heart of Hogwarts shows itself in the Support section, the Introduction section, and the Announcement sectionand all the rest. You can easily see the heart, just read. Once you see the camaraderie of those at Hogwarts, you see that heart is first and foremost. The way you are welcomed, celebrated, and get on with others, all has to do with heart! This place is large, and the heart is everywhere! This tells us a couple things, one, someone has a lot of love to give, two, someone has a lot of patients, and three, someone has a lot of creative ideas. So when you are roaming about, remember the heart of Hogwarts stems from the top on down and being part of that is a wonderful thing!! |
| Summer Club: Success or More?
By: Jennifer Kull (JUNK) The Summer Club for the year 2006 has been deemed a success by most Slytherins. The success is because so much was put into it to be put up and available for this year. YAY! It provided ways for the students to acquire points for their houses during the summer, while in wait of the start of the new term and with it, classes. Perhaps the trivia was not updated as often as some would have wished, and the activities were not as plentiful. But WOW! The amount of students who participated was overwhelming! Congrats to all houses, as it shows that everyone is working their hardest to accomplish the feat of gaining house points and showing house spirit. |
| Who told you about PADs?
I asked this question to many students from different Houses after I've been wondering about how lucky we were that we found this online school and how we've become one big family. But in order to be here, we've all found this school somewhere or someone told us about it. I decided to find out how people found about this school Lucia Valentine: "I was watching my sister on the PC one day when she came on here and I asked her about it then I decided to join" Mr. Kamron Flame: "well I found pads looking on google for Hogwarts RPG's" Avin Lucinda Holmes: "I found pads via a search for online Harry Potter sites." Darmean Volten: "I was told by the Slytherin Prefect Jen. She is a good friend of mine, and told me that I should join here. And I'm glad she did!" Araceli Mendoza: "I found the website through Mugglenet, and have loved it ever since" Summer: "I found Pads one day when I was searching for a Harry Potter Sorting Quiz. I took a lot of them to see which house I would belong to if Hogwarts were real. I was tied between either Ravenclaw or Gryffindor, and then I found PAD's. I had no clue it was an RPG site, but I took the quiz. Soon, I got a e-owl back with a password to the RCR, and I joined, curious to what this is, and that's how all this started." Alphonse Elric: "I found it by looking for Harry Potter Mouse Pads. I saw that they had a Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry named Pads and I was intrigued so I naturally found out and dived on in." Hagrid Black: "I started a little Harry Potter site, No big deal... Then the admin of this teen chat I go to helped out, He found this site and linked it on my site, I came here, I liked it so I signed up...In the meantime, That site was giving to him" Gemini: "I was surfing the net for Harry Potter stuff one day and I found this site with a bunch on Harry Potter games and chats ( www.wizardingworld.com) . In the games section was PADs Hogwarts." Felicity Hedwig: "Well I actually googled for Harry Potter chat and came upon pads and ended up in the great Hall chat, there were a few people in there and told me to take a look around. I have been here since." Kalie Black: "I found Pads through Mugglenet.com" Jennifer Kull: "I love telling this story! ^_^ OK, I was perusing Google for cool HP sites because I was bored...and I found Mugglenet, AWESOME site, by the way. I love the Hall of Shame. Any who, they have a place for links, and Pads was on it...I took a look around, went on a whim and registered...then went to the CR... and WHAM! I was hooked. Of course, I wasn't that active (I registered on May 5th) until school finally let out, but Merlin's endless beard and odiferous arm pits I loved this place! I just joined more and more during last summer, and then when school started again, could not hold it all in and started to tell others. I've probably half a dozen active friends from RL on this site now. J" For next issue, I am going to ask more people about how they found Pads and I will make sure to tell you about it! :D We should be really grateful for those who told us about this website! Thank you!! |

| Summer Dance Arrrrrgh!
A Penshire The summer dance was a great time for all. I was amazed at the gossip flying around the dance floor. What everyone didnt know is that I had a little black book and watched and listen and wrote everything that happened so I wouldnt forget these delicious tidbits! Brace yourselves!! Sam Craft had his head shaved at the dance this rumor is still being confirmed. Prefect Zoey Taylor and Vice-President Roger Davies were caught snogging in the corner. Professor Snape actually does sleep with his Cups Professor Fairydust has an addiction to butterbeer. Kamron and Parvarti were seen holding hands. The above Kamron was in fact seen with different girls ~ from each house throughout the dance. Prefect Zoey Taylor took fencing lessons before the dance. Pad actually fed Professor Fairydust butterbeer to see what might happen Head Girl Ava Black and Head Boy Cedric Cenn Faelad had secret negotiations to take over Hogwarts School. |
| Mysterious Creatures Sighted in Hogwarts Lake
By: Seraphina Rosehill Needing a break from the normalcy of the Common Room (if it is even possible to call the Slytherin CR normal), I decided to take a walk around the grounds. As I passed by the lake while on my hike, I noticed a canoe on the beach and thought it would be a great day to float lazily through the water. I pushed the canoe in the dark lake, and began paddling toward the middle. As I took my first few strokes with the oars, I noticed a viewing window in the bottom, allowing me to see plants and animals as I traveled along. My curiosity piqued, I rowed slowly and took note of everything I could see below me. As I enjoyed my quiet stroll though the dark waters, I saw several creatures. I saw a Giant Squid, Merpeople, and I also noticed a whole pack of Grindylows floating beneath me. They used their sharp little claws, trying to get through the bottom of the boat, but to no avail, as I quickly rowed away. I also happened upon was what Muggles would call the Loch Ness Monster. But we in the Wizarding World know it is just another giant sea creature, a fairly friendly one at that! I stopped my canoe and watched the grand creature swim happily through the lake, before I moved on. As I rowed, getting a bit hot under the glaring summer sun, I came across a group of sharks! I dont know what magic allows these animals to live in fresh water, but they were there, I swear! Next I saw a Giant Sea Turtle, again, a saltwater animal living in our fresh water lake. I wonder if PAD has found some magic to bring these creatures to our lake, and if so, what was her motivation? Could it be that she brought the sharks to help with out over population of Penshires? I am not sure if anyone is going to believe this part, but I came across the strangest thing I have ever seen! A big, pink starfish and a yellow sponge wearing pants! They danced about on the bottom of the lake, using fishing nets to chase bubbles through the water. I still have not identified what these creatures were, or how they ended up in our lake, but I searched through every Bestiary book I can find, and they arent in any of them! Perhaps Hogwarts is home to a new breed of aquatic creaturebeware what you find should you decided to take a stroll through the lake! |
| A Vampires Point of View
By: Darmean Volten In the muggle dictionary, a vampire is a reanimated corpse that is believed to rise from the grave at night and suck the blood of sleeping people. Well, we all know this is not true, as we have many vampiric students here at Hogwarts, including myself. To get a first hand view of what life is like for our resident vampires, I decided to talk to the most beloved Professor Hyde...er...I mean Hyde. Professor...I mean Hyde, is a recently graduated student of Slytherin turned professor. As of now he doesnt teach anything, but he is supposed to teach art and Photoshop classes by this fall. He doesnt have much confidence his classes will be set up by then, unfortunately. He has no house affiliation, though. Well, I asked him what it is like to be a vampire at Hogwarts. He started the interview off with a joke, I guess to lighten the mood, and it certainly did. But after that he clearly stated, Nonetheless...there really is no problem with it. All the students get along perfectly well, and the staff too, so I dont think it matters what you are. He even joked saying it didnt matter if you were from another planet, youd be fine here. Of course, Professor Snape brews every vampy, as he said, a Vamplife Potion. He said it is for preventing students from eating each other...as that would not be very pretty. He did have one problem though, a little self-induced angst every now and then. When asked about accidents, he didnt know of any major ones, just the occasional conflict between students due the depressed vampires. Also, there is Sephiroth, one of the Penshire prefects, with MPD, or Multiple Personality Disorder. He said that Seph and his alter ego, Dante, may sometimes feed off of each other if there is no alternative present. So whether vampire, were-creature, or just a normal student, we all should feel welcome and no threat from anyone at this school. |
| The Switching of the Heads.
By Lavender Moondust As you all probably noticed the Heads of Houses made us a pleasant surprise for this Summer Break, one of many but one that touched us all in many ways. One shiny day the doors to Ravenclaw House opened wide and we all expected to see our beloved Head Prof. Lily when we saw Prof. Lockhart with his never ending smile enter our common room, holding a large stack of signed autographs to give us all along with the secret to his hair products. We had one funny week filled with smiles and lots of new games made by Prof. Lockhart like:" Professor Lockhart is soo cool because" Before we had the time to say "Fly High Breath Deep" non-other then the Head of House Slytherin Prof. Snape entered our house, holding tightly to the 2 cups, told us that he was going to replace our Head yet again. This was a big surprise to all the Ravens, a bitter sweet surprise because it meant that we won't see our own Head for a while, but we all knew we could contact her any time if needed. But it was also a great chance for us to meet the great Potion Master, the bit harsh yet respected teacher around Hogwarts. He was not into all this nonsense of smiles and fooling around but we learned a lot from him and it was a pleasure to have him in our house. Then we had Prof. Opal, Head of Gryffindor and the one of the most creative and artistic witch around, she entered our house wearing a big smile and couldn't wait to join us and meet us all and it was good to have her in there as well Now we wait for Prof. Ripley to visit us and stay with us for one week, we can't wait! Out thoughts are still on our own Head, waiting for her return, to tell us what it was like to spend a few weeks in the other houses |
| Pirates' Dance
By Abigail Turner From August 4th - August 7th, Hogwarts held what appears to be its first-ever Pirates (er, Summer) Dance. Sponsored and pulled together by the hardworking Student Council members, the dance was a huge success. Possibly one of the dance's biggest attractions was the contest held there: members were invited to look at an array of swimsuits and try to guess which suit belonged to which staff member. Not only was the challenge entertaining (and challenging, I soon realized after three hours of squinting at the screen and changing my answers around until they made sense), but it gave an opportunity for each and every member to make a potential 1,150 points for their house! But that's not to say that this was the only attraction of the dance. No, members were able to enjoy mingling and speaking with other students - members from all houses and positions who attended the dance weren't disappointed. Overall, it was a very successful event. If the dance was any indication, our new student council is going to bring a lot to the school. |
| Summer Club
By Lavender Moondust As many of you notice and if you haven't wake up LOL the Summer Break started a few weeks ago. You could actually hear the shouts of happiness and excitement coming from all around the castle areas. The Professors made most of it; let's face it you waited for it as much as we, the students have. The Staff and the Student Council made sure that we won't have one boring moment in our break and they created the Summer Club where you can find, Trivia questions, Movie Club, Caption Contest, Muggle animals for those who just can't have enough of those, spot the differences and even Creative Writing for those of you that just love to write, and Word Finds... so many things to do and so much fun! Thanks from House Ravenclaw for working so hard to make us a memorable summer break |
| A New Term Approaches
By Danny Lupin As the new Term is approaching so many things are beginning to happen at PAD's. Classes are being updated, some old, some new, and almost all interesting! As a student here last year for the start of term I must say it is one of my favorite times, you get to look at a list of classes and begin signing up, taking trips to the malls, and meeting new Professors. Classes are also a great way to score some points! Not only does the start of term mean classes, but the school gets more into routine starting contests, and more activities and dances and such. The New Term to me is a calling, get ready for what PAD's known for, a true Hogwarts experience! |
| Room Raiders at Hogwarts?
Anonymous It seems recently that there has been an outbreak of boredom, with the summer coming to a close and the new term, yet to begin. With little to do, it seems that a few students have taken to playing pranks and creating all types of general mischief. Rumors have been heard, of whispers among the staff, regarding several rooms being raided all over the school. Dorm rooms, common rooms, and even the Prefects Bathroom were raided, each one left with a signature, glaring smiley face, painted on the walls with black paint. It has even been said, the Professor Snapes own Private Storeroom was not left untouched. Reportedly, there were several special items that were taken from his stores, and it has the staff concerned that someone may be brewing a very potent potion. Of the missing items, Boomslang, Lacewing flies and powdered Bicorn horn are thought to be among them, as well as others, that are as of yet, unidentified. One staff member, who wishes to remain anonymous, stated If those items are missing, (the three mentioned previously) it can only mean one thing; Polyjuice Potion. What would any well-intentioned student need with Polyjuice Potion? I think that this all adds up to one thing: someone at Hogwarts is using the Polyjuice Potion, that they brewed with the stolen supplies from the Professors Storeroom, to disguise themselves and raid additional rooms. Be wary of your friends, they may not be who they appear to be, no one can be trusted! |
