| In a multi-genre research paper, each piece in the paper is written in a different genre (see attachment) and reveals one facet of the selected topic, and it makes its own point. The project is a collage of writing and artistic expression with a theme that informs and persuades the reader.
Step 1: Working Folder A. First, choose a social issues that is of interest to you B. Read: a good book, Web, newspaper/magazine articles, encyclopedia entries, etc. C. Take good notes and document the appropriate information. D. If you find information, you should have a written copy of the info. in your folder. E. You will keep all this material in your Working Folder. F. REMEMBER TO DOCUMENT ALL SOURCES AS YOU GO ALONG. Step 2: Final Folder A. The exterior of the final folder should be a collage of visual and written pieces found while researching your topic. These are pieces others created and you found. B. The interior should be organized. a. You will need a cover sheet: Name Name of Project English II-period Date b. Table of Contents c. Body (see Literary Requirement below) i. Each selected genre should have internal documentation using MLA format ii. There should be some order to your research format. It doesn�t have to be chronological; however, there should be a natural flow of ideas. Use transitions pieces to connect your selections together (stanzas, �Dear Reader� letters, diary or journal entry, quotation, a timeline, etc.) d. Works Cited Page Literary Requirement: All pieces inside the Final Folder should include internal documentation which is referenced in a final Work Cited page. A. A 1.5-2.5 page persuasive research report, with parenthetical citations using MLA formatting B. In addition, you must choose 4 other genres to write about your selected subject. Information in each piece should be fresh and insightful. Please, no repetitious content. While based on facts found in your research, these are pieces you create: emotion/voice should come through.
