The Caladonians are a higly advanced people, more than 150 years ahead of Earths industrial curve. Large scale building and nanotechnology have helped build skyscrapers a mile or so tall. Skycars fly through the canyons of buildings in invisible lanes, leaving the streets below for pedestrians and mass transit monorails. Medicine is advanced enough to prevent many illnesses and sufferings. Organs for replacement are grown in vats in hospitals. Cybernetics also play and important role, many which are innocuous to the real thing. The military usually has the most overt cybernetics, with Marines having gleaming metal arms and glowing cyber eyes. Semi-autonomous robots do most of the labor in the system. Starships run regular buisiness routes from planet to planet or to the orbital stations and rolling space colonies in deep space. The streets are clean enough to walk barefoot. The industrial areas are far from the cicites and run by a few overseers watching the robots work, and produce little pollution thanks to cold fusion. As a matter of fact they havent used fossil fuels since the last Queen more than a thousand years ago!
Concerning cities and architecture- Caledonians pride in thier city planning and architecture skills. Cities are planned in circular patterns spreading out from a main circle in the center, like a web. In the center they plant a seed from the Everlasting Tree. This seed will grow with the settlment, eventually reaching 200 feet with arching branches. Many of the buildings around the circle will have thier structure ingrained ino the limbs of that tree. Buildings as well are built in circular patterns, with opulent houses made of spiraling circular walls and domed ceilings. Many buildings are made of abundant marble or granite. On Dorthonan the cities are built right into the caverns, with whole populations living in giant stalagmites and stalactites. Everhines cities encircle an oasis, where the familiar tree is planted. On the many Islands and archipeligos in the seas of Caledon, many buildings are made of coralstone or local granite from extinct volacnoes or even strong wood.
