Heres what Caledon is:
In the Center of the Calodin world is the Everlasting tree, which holds the Godhead of Gaia. Its roots gorw deep into southern slope of the Sunrise Mountain, whose northern slope steps into the Crystal Sea. South and below the Tree is the Palace Sublime, home of the Queen, her family, and the Dynastic Court. It is here on her Alabaster Throne that she, with the aide of the Court and the approval of Parliment, guides her people by example and decree. Around the foundations of the Palace are some of the most important buildings in Calodin society, such as the Apse of the Mother Goddess, the main center of worship for Gaia. Thes structures support an empire which revolves around the city, the First City, Antioch. While the Historic Quarter surrounding the Palace Citadel has remained by law unmarred and constantly renovated, along the western and eastern feet of the Sunrise Mountain sit the sparkling skyscrapers of the modern and future eras. Antioch is truely cosmopolitan; both ancient and advanced, traditional and innovative.
To the north of the capital lies the vast inland Crystal Sea, whose white cliffs shimmer brilliantly in the winter. South sits the Sunset Valley, breadbasket of Caledon and a highly populated and fertile region. To the east is Antioch's newly renovated port city, Wash Harbor, and in the west are the Scrub Lands. These regions among many others make up the massive pangean continent of Vishtar. Near the equator, west-by-southwest of Vishtar, is a dramatically circular shaped ring of islands called the Pearl Necklace, formed long ago by a meteor strike, with a still active volcano in the center of the archipeligo. South still is Gaia's Tailbone and Tide City, a metroplex built to harness tidal energy and power almost two thrids the planet of Caledon.
Its was from this temeperate world that the Calodins reached for the stars, colonized thier moon, the planets Everhine and Dorthonan, met a sentient species in thier own solar system, and expanded thier infulence through the lazily spinning space colonies and military outposts. Yet none of these would have come to past, were it not for one very brave girl, who was determined to fulfill her destiny. |

Records are sketchy concerning history After the first the First Dynasty, during the Age of Conflict. However some tablets and scroll fragments exist from that era. Before the Unification Charter and its calendar (we are currently at UC 6186), Caledon was made primarily up of several large superpowers and a smattering of smaller nations. This division of the people was the result of the loss of the First Queen and her heir more than 3000 years before. The warring and strife for supremacy left many exhausted and lacking in supplies. Many went hungry and diseased because of the conflict. However, it all changed in a single night. The rightful heir of the Mothertree was found. Before there was speculation, as many have come before her and proved false. However, this young girl, barely out of school, awakened the sleeping giant tree. It swayed in the windless air, and from its trunk the sap poured. The Crowned Lady of that time collected the sap, which was drunk by thie girl, becoming the Queen and gaining the knowledge locked in the tree for eons. Words spread across the world, and after a year of peaceful diplomacy, the Unification Charter was signed. The second Golden Age was born, and the Calendar began as UC 1. The girl, Catrina Marilyn, began the Marilyn Dynasty, which ruled for 3 thousand years. |

For the next 3 millenia the world of Caledon regrew from its dark age and geared its energies toward the sciences and medicine. Sexual openess sprouted forth, bringing back the old traditions. In the middle of this rennaissance, Catrinas granddaughter, Caitlin, was killed in a horseriding accident not far from the palace. There was a hundered days of mourning when news spred, as she did not then birth an heir. According to the law, it stated that her firstborn Seed child would take the throne. Hence the Monaco Dynasty began. Selenas grandmother, Isabella, was the first Monaco on the throne. It was about this time that Caledon began reaching out to the worlds around it, and the people began to settle on Dothonan and Everhine. First contact with the Anthronians came from the colonization of Everhine, and a friendship was immediatly cemented between the two people. Such was the influence of Caledon life to the "Felines" that they united thier tribes in a strong and dedicated confederacy. |

Invasion of the Bugs; The first contact with beings from outside the solar system happened on UC 5545, and it ended with the shedding of blood. These "Bugs" as they were so called, came as an expeditionary inviasion to thier system and desired nothing less than conquest. The Royal fleet engaged them immediatly, beginning the Battle of the Three Moons. It was over these moons that several smaller skirmishes and two more major engagments happened. After 2 years of fighting, what was left of the bug fleet vanished back into the depths of space. The war was finally over, and casualties were fortunatly low, numbering less than 10,000 in a military of tens of millions. According to astronomers, where they came from was 500 lightyears away. Itll take them a half millenia to get back home, then another to come back in a larger force. The military, now having a defensive "shell" of patrols around the system called the Red Line, is anticipating thier return. |
