So explain this to me...

"Who thinks that Kim Dongwan is attractive?"
*Camena raises her hand and grins broadly*
"Who thinks that Lee Minwoo is attractive?"
*Camena raises both hands waves wildly and grins broadly*
"Who thinks that Shin Hyesung is attractive?"
*Every other girl in the world who has heard of Shinhwa raises both her hands and cheers, screams, waves wildly and even faints*
*Camena is astounded and shakes her head in disbelief*
Explain that! WHY on earth do girls finds this guy attractive? And its not just a few girls. It's EVERY girl on EVERY Shinhwa website in existence!
*grumble*
So anyways, there is actually a point to this rant. I’m not just being a teenybopper, I swear… (Well, mostly not J) Because of my new-found attraction to the boys of Shinhwa, I’ve been trying to figure out what people see in this guy, Hyesung. And personally I can’t find anything. Well, you say, everyone has their own opinions on what they find attractive. I will agree that this is true but at the same time, this isn’t a situation where one other person and I disagree on the over looks of someone. No, no, no… This is me versus thousands of other girls.
Perhaps Korean girls have a different ideal and perception of what is attractive. That would solve all my questions. Unfortunately there have been studies done with infants across cultures and continents that show that all the infants were more attracted to (looked longer at) the faces that were most symmetrical. That pretty much cancels out the idea of different cultural perceptions (excluding certain cultures that find tiny feet, long necks or hanging earlobes desirable, of course).
But maybe he has a great personality. That could be true, since I know that people become more attractive because of their fun, outgoing, happy or whatever personalities. Yes, this is very possible. Perhaps I just don’t see it because I don’t understand what he or any of them are saying. From my limited information gleaned from performances, videos and interviews (in Korean of course), I’m getting the idea that he’s the nice one, the sweet, happy one, the Lance, if you will. He strikes me as being rather doofy though. But that’s okay. I don’t hold that against him. Being doofy can be attractive.
I admit, Lance has his moments, and he certainly has his own healthy following. Although Lance’s following is nowhere near as large as Justin’s. See now if, Hyesung was like that, I would understand completely and wouldn’t not be sitting here writing this rant. I would instead be studying for my Psych midterm. (riiiiiiiiiiight….I would be PhotoShop-ing J) But it’s not like that. From what I understand, Hyesung is the most popular. And THAT is why I am here.
Well, I suppose I could just leave it at that, and just be annoyed that everyone else has a different idea of attractiveness than me. But one other thing bothers me. Hyesung is the most popular. But Minwoo is second. Minwoo is the one I like, and is one highly attractive boy. So how then can the same girls who think Hyesung is “hot” also like Minwoo? They are so completely different! But still, there is a difference. So why do people like both, but I like one and really dislike the other? Is anyone else thinking this is odd here?
Well, I’m not finding a solution here. *sigh* So I guess I’ll just have to go with the idea that Hyesung has this massively attractive personality (think charisma that blows Justin Timberlake AND Justin Tsai out of the water). Yes, that could be it. Yup. Right. And if I keep telling myself that, maybe one day I will actually believe it.
It’s either that or I go against all the things I learned in Psych and believe that Korean girls have a different perception of what is attractive than my own perception. Hrm……. That WOULD explain why the audience always cheers louder when one of the guys of Shinhwa touches one of the other guys……….
