| 6:10am: The first cafe employee called off. She was supposed to be in at 5:30am, and the next employee should have been in at 6:00. The reason for this? The cafe opens at 6:00. Now I can tell you from experience that guests get pretty upset when they can't get breakfast or their roomservice doesn't get delivered. But this isn't about the crappy cafe staff. They come in late every day. This is about security deciding to break the habit that the other department heads were in. This habit consists of all other managers passing every managerial duty on to security. My contribution to the revolution started with calling the cafe manager at home and waking her up. I had a pretty damn good reason for it too. You can't open a cafe with no employees. The incompetent cafe manager's response... Other employees will be in eventually, and we shouldn't bother her on her day off. Now that's some good quality managering. Way to keep control of your employees. She just about broke down crying (which happens alot) when I told her I wasn't going to call anyone for her, because we don't have any of their phone numbers. This was also her responsibility as a manager. Whenever she hires a new person, she is supposed to get their information to us. This is how we stop departments from hiring theft felons for housekeeping. That's the kind of person they want cleaning guest's rooms when they are out. For God's sake, he had a prison tatoo on his FACE! But that's another story. So, in the long run, she refused to call one of HER employees in to work, and we couldn't, so guests complained and got their rooms partially comped. Kudos to you, cafe manager. People like you make the world go 'round. So...no crazy guests this time, just incompetent staff. Sorry. |
