Strawberry/Pretzel Salad

submitted by Kay

This recipe is in 3 layers.
Directions are given one layer at a time.

Bottom Layer:

Preheat oven to 400 degrees.
2 cups crushed pretzels
3/4 cup melted margarine
3 tablespoons sugar

Mix these 3 ingredients together, and pour into a 9x13 pan.
Press down to form a crust.
Bake at 400 degrees for 8 minutes.
Cool.

Middle Layer:

1 8 oz. package of cream cheese
1 cup sugar
1 8 oz. bowl of Cool Whip (thawed)

Cream together the cream cheese and sugar.
Fold in the bowl of Cool Whip.
Layer this mixture over the cooled pretzel crust.
Refrigerate while you put together the top layer.

Top Layer:

1 6 oz. package of Strawberry Jello
2 cups boiling water
2 10 oz. packages of frozen strawberries

Stir the boiling water into the dry jello mix.
Add the frozen strawberries.
Chill until syrupy.

When the jello mixture is syrupy, pour over the cream cheese
mixture.
HINT: I hold a large tablespoon just over the cream cheese
mixture, and pour slowly over the bowl of the spoon, to keep
the liquid from messing up the middle layer.
Refrigerate until ready to serve.
Cut into squares.
Garnish each serving with a dollop of Cool Whip and a fresh
strawberry, if you'd like.

ENJOY!!!
